Abstract
PURPOSE:To carry out overaging of a zinc plated steel strip at a suitable temp. by feeding the strip into an overaging furnace in a zigzag direction and blowing the circulating atmospheric gas in the furnace in parallel with the strip. CONSTITUTION:Zinc plated steel strip 10 is fed into overaging furnace 1 in a vertical zigzag direction with upper and lower hearth rolls 11, 12. The inside of furnace 1 is under an atmosphere of inert or reducing gas. This atmospheric gas is taken out from furnace 1 with a circulation system, regulated to a predetermined temp. with heater 5, temp. controller 21, etc., and supplied into furnace 1 again through gas mixer 6. The gas is vertically blown from blow ducts 7 in parallel with strip 10. By this method superheat of the strip is avoided, overaging is carried out suitably, and the furnace can elongate its life.
