Abstract
PURPOSE:To safely manufacture a one-side hot dipped metal sheet of high quality at a low cost with high productivity by spouting a molten metal to a position higher than the surface of a bath with electromagnetic pumps and contacting the metal to the under surface of the sheet running over the bath surface. CONSTITUTION:Two electromagnetic pumps 8, 8' each composed of opposite inductors 5a, 5b or 5'a, 5'b are placed along the proceeding direction of steel sheet 4. The bottom of each pump 8, 8' is the blowing side. When a progressive magnetic field is generated from the multi-layer winding of the primary iron core of inductor 5a, ..., induced current flows in molten metal bath 1 and propulsive force is produced in the molten metal itself with the field and current. Thus, the molten metal moves upward along the arrows, contacts to the under surface of sheet 4 to carry out one-side hot dipping, and falls onto bath 1. Since pumps 8, 8' such the molten metal at a sufficiently deep position, dross 6 does not contact to sheet 4 to prevent deterioration in quality. In addn., splashing does not occure, resulting in safe operation.
