Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible reproduction of high fidelity which has no relation to the intensities of reflected light by detecting the displacement quantity of the interference fringes obtained as the reflected light from the modulated groove walls of record and part of laser light interfere thereby obtaining reproduction signal.
CONSTITUTION: Laser light 3 is divided to reference light and radiation light 5. The radiation light 5 is radiated to the wall surface 1a on one side of the modulated grooves 1 of a record and the reflected light thereof is entered to a CCD image sensor 13 being a photoelectric transducer. The reference light 4 is also entered to another image sensor 14 and both are superposed to form interference fringes. Next, the functions (n), (h) which represent the displacement quantity of said interference fringes are detected from the sensors 13, 14 respectively and are added via counters 15, 16 to constitute the reproducer so that the electric signal proportional to the displacement quantity of the wall surface 1a of the modulated grooves 1 is thereby obtained. This enables the noise occuring in the intensity change and reflectance change of the light source to be eliminated and the reproduction of high fidelity to be obtained.
