Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the production efficiency and prevent fluctuations of the quality by introducing insulated core wires into a twisting device, in which the twisting direction is alternately reversed, to form a quad or the like and then securing the outer surface with a filler type insulator.
CONSTITUTION: Four core wires 2 each clad with a foamed insulating cover are introduced into a quad twisting device I to provide a quad twisting with capstans A and B alternately rotated in the directions of arrows in correspondence to the periods of forward and reverse rotations without causing the rotation of a take-up bobbin 16 in the longitudinal direction of the quad 6. The quad 6 thus obtained is introduced into an insulation cover device II, in which the surface of the quad 6 is covered with a fused filler type plastic insulating material 12 supplied from a hopper 7 and extruded to the surface of a nipple 11 as it is being thermally fused. By effecting the provision of insulation while forming the quad in this way, it is possible to increase the production efficiency and prevent the fluctuations of the quality of the product.
