Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to simply and accurately accomplish the alignment of a multicore connector by monitoring the aligning conditions of grouped fiber wires with the use of short optical fibers which are mounted in the connector. CONSTITUTION:Short optical fiber wires 5 and 5' are fixed in two grooves at the both sides of connectors 6 and 6', and a light 3 is guided from one end and received at the other end 4 so that the fiber wires may be adjusted to be aligned. If this alignment is performed, the remaining wires are also aligned. More specifically, the aligning condition of long fiber wires 1 and 1' can be monitored with the use of the wires 5 and 5'. By using the short wires in that way, the setting of the light guiding and receiving operations and the connection can be accomplished at the same point with the resultant advantage in the workability and economy. Since, moreover, the distance between the light guiding and receiving portions is short, the receiving power is so high that the alignment can be accomplished accurately.
