1504142 Door closure mechanism EATON Ltd 16 April 1975 [23 May 1974] 23083/74 Heading E2M In a door closure mechanism, an elongate housing 10 is provided by a cylindrical bore filled with liquid, a first piston head 25 is slidable in the bore and a pinion 27 is in mesh with a rack 26 extending from the first piston head 25 such that the pinion 27 is rotated by means of longitudinal movement of the rack to cause movement of an actuating arm (not shown) connected to the pinion and the door. The first piston head 25 is provided with a unidirectional valve to permit liquid to flow through the piston head only in one direction. A flexible tube 43 extends from one end of the housing through a hole in the first piston head 25 and a flexible sealing washer 45 is associated with the first piston head 25 to make a fluid-tight seal with the bore and with the flexible tube 43 passing through a hole in the washer. When the first piston head 25 is moving towards one end of the housing the flow of liquid can take place only via a valve controlled inlet to the tube adjacent one end of the housing. A second flexible tube 39 extends from one end of the housing through a second hole in the first piston head and a second hole in the washer 45, the second tube 39 being closed at its remote end by a plug 42 but having an aperture 40 in the wall of the second tube. The first piston head 25 is connected by the rack 26 to a second piston head 21 and a third flexible tube 15 extends from the other end of the housing through holes in the second piston head 21 and associated washer 22. A unidirectional valve 24 is provided in the second piston. The flow rate through the ports is controlled by valves 37, 38 and 14.
