Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deformation of a frame-like body and the breakage of glass by providing a gap part between a liquid crystal panel and a rib, filling the gap part with a flexible resin having elasticity and sealing the gap part. SOLUTION: The gap part G is provided between the corner part and the rib parts 3a, 3b, 3c and 3d of the liquid crystal panel 1, and filld with the flexible resin 7a, 7b, 7c and 7d so as to cover the gap part and then sealed to fix the panel 1 to the frame-like body 2. Silicone resin whose elastic modulus Ea is 150 kg/mm<=Ea<=250 kg/mm is used as the resin 7b. Thus, thermal impact and mechanical impact applied to the liquid crystal display device are absorbed by the flexible resin 7a, 7b, 7c and 7d, so that the deformation of the body 2 and the breakage of the glass of the panel 1 are prevented. Even when the device is constituted in such a way, the display characteristic and the reliability of the liquid crystal display device and not changed at all and the device is excellently operated.

However, in such a configuration, deformation of the frame or cracking of the glass is caused by the difference in the thermal expansion coefficient between the glass forming the liquid crystal panel and the resin material forming the frame. In addition, when a mechanical shock is applied to the liquid crystal display device, the reliability of the liquid crystal panel is significantly reduced, for example, the liquid crystal panel is shocked and the glass is broken. Therefore, various measures have been taken to remove initial cracks that cause cracks, to reduce the coefficient of thermal expansion of the material of the frame, and to match the coefficient of thermal expansion of glass. There is a problem that leads to up.
