ライニングパイプ物品の結合方法
本発明は、ライニングパイプ物品の結合技術、およびこのような結合に使用す
るパイプフィッティングに関する。
より詳しくは、本発明は、ライニング、特にポリエチレンまたは他の熱可塑性
材料からなる緊密嵌合ライニングを備えたパイプを結合する技術に関する。これ
らのパイプは、特に、例えば、二酸化炭素、硫化水素、メタンまたは炭化水素を
含む液体炭化水素の搬送に使用することを目的とする。搬送される液体は、例え
ば、160℃までの値の温度、および例えば5,000 lb/in2までの値の圧力を有す
る。搬送される液体として、単独の非脱泡水または炭化水素と一緒の非脱泡水、
またはブラインがある。一般に、これらのパイプは、パイプに通常使用される材
料にとって非常に有害な作用を与える液体を搬送することを目的とする。パイプ
の材料は、通常、金属、例えば鋼または鋳鉄等の鉄系金属である。従って、パイ
プにより搬送される液体の作用を低減させるため、パイプには熱可塑性材料から
なるライナが嵌装される。
このようなライニングパイプは、長いパイプラインを建造するためには、所定
間隔で結合しなければならない。
このようなパイプラインの端部には、例えば弁のような他のパイプに似た物品
が設けられる。本願明細書では、「パイプ物品(pipe item)」という表現は、パ
イプ、および、例えば弁のようなパイプに似た他の物品を意味する。
本発明の目的は、2つの金属パイプ物品を結合する方法、該方法により結合さ
れる2つの金属パイプ物品、およびこのような方法に使用する金属パイプフィッ
ティングを提供することにある。パイプ物品またはパイプフィッティングは、例
えば鋼または鋳鉄等の鉄系金属で形成できる。
米国特許第5,009,737号(発明者:Lescaut、Atochemに譲渡)にはパイプライ
ン構造を作る方法が開示されており、この方法は、内部被覆(internal coverin
g)を軸線方向端部の軸線方向内側に終端させて、前記内部被覆の長手方向端部
の間に位置する非被覆内壁セクションを形成するようにパイプの端同士を位置決
めし、パイプの端同士を一体に溶接し、溶融可能材料のストリップを前記非被覆
内壁セクションの半径方向内方に導入し、ストリップを加熱すると同時に、スト
リップに半径方向外向きの圧力を加えてストリップを非被覆内壁セクションに押
し付け、ストリップの厚さを減少させかつストリップの長手方向幅を増大させて
ストリップを被覆の隣接端部を接触させ、かつ非被覆内壁セクションを完全に被
覆してストリップを被覆に融着させることからなる。
上記米国特許に開示された例では、2つの各隣接パイプが、ポリアミド熱可塑
性材料からなる被覆を有している。各パイプの隣接端部には被覆がなされていな
い。パイプの2つの隣接端部が一体に溶接される。
ストリップもポリアミド熱可塑性材料からなり、6mmの初期厚さおよび80mm
の幅を有している。パイプの隣接端部は、誘導加熱ユニットにより200℃の温
度に加熱されると同時に、ストリップの内面に20kPaの圧力が加えられる。温
度が200℃に到達するやいなや加熱が中止され、かつストリップに加えられる
圧力が除去されると温度が100℃に低下するまで強制冷却が行なわれる。この
結果、ストリップが溶融状態になりかつその幅が拡げられて、ストリップが2つ
のパイプの被覆の端部に融着される。
ストリップには、パイプ内部で移動できる自己推進キャリジに取り付けられた
4つの油圧ラムにより半径方向に移動可能な4つのブレードにより圧力が加えら
れる。このキャリジには、被覆が存在しないパイプ部分(該部分内をキャリジが
移動する)を検出する手段が設けられている。この手段として、例えば、放射性
同位元素または機械的フィーラが使用される。
上記米国特許第5,009,737号は、被覆材料としてポリエチレンを使用すること
に言及しているが、被覆としてのライナの使用を想定しているとは考えられない
。ライナは、スチールパイプ内に引き抜かれるワンピースパイプに似た部材であ
る。これに対し、上記米国特許に開示された被覆は、特定の形態でパイプに徐々
に付着された被覆である。この米国特許において言及されている別の形態の被覆
として、遠心力塗布セメント(centrifuged cement)およびビチューメンがある
。
上記米国特許に開示された方法は、最初に金属パイプを一体に溶接し、次に、
パイプ内で作動する工具を用いて、2つのパイプの被覆にストリップを融接する
ことからなる。
米国特許第4,611,833号(発明者:Lescaut、Atochemに譲渡)には、パイプ内
部を腐食または摩擦から保護するため感熱材料で内部がコーティングされかつ溶
接継手により連結された少なくとも2つのパイプセクションからなるパイプライ
ンが開示されている。このパイプラインでは、各金属パイプの内部が、パイプの
端部から、パイプ直径の1/2〜3倍の距離に亘ってステンレス鋼合金でコーテ
ィングされ、感熱材料が存在しない側のパイプの端部には留保ゾーン(reserve
zone)があり、感熱コーティングは、パイプの端部から少なくとも20mmの長さ
に亘ってステンレス鋼合金コーティングとオーバーラップし、各セクションの縁
部はステンレス鋼合金でコーティングされかつ2つのパイプセクション間の溶接
継手を形成し、パイプセクションは、ステンレス鋼合金により形成されたボンド
によりパイプの縁部が一体に結合され、更に、パイプを形成する金属と実質的に
同じ金属からなる金属の外側溶接により結合される。
この米国特許では、500ミクロンの厚さをもつステンレス−フェロクロム合
金が、パイプの端部から測定して120mmの長さに亘って、直径200mmのパイ
プの内壁および縁部に付着される。この被覆はライナではないが、パイプセクシ
ョンの端部から80mmの非被覆保留ゾーンを残して、600ミクロンの厚さを得
るべく静電的に付着されたポリアミド−11からなる被覆である。
パイプの内面に被覆を付着するには、上記米国特許第4,611,833号に開示の方
法は、各パイプの全長に亘ってパイプの内面にアクセスする必要がある。
上記米国特許第5,009,737号および第4,611,833号に開示された方法は、パイプ
物品を結合して前述の種類の長いパイプラインを建造することに適用することは
できない。特に、米国特許第5,009,737号では、2つのスチールパイプが最初に
溶接により結合される。この場合、2つのパイプのライナの結合には、パイプの
内部で作動する機械の使用を必要とする。この作動を遂行できるようにするには
、パイプの長さに制限があることは明らかである。このような作動は、各パイプ
の長さがせいぜい15m程度の場合にのみ可能であり、かつライナ結合作動は、
一定長さのパイプが先行パイプに付加される度毎に行なわれると推測される。
また、上記方法は、各継手においてパイプの回りに配置される誘導ユニットを
使用するものである。この点でも、各継手はパイプに沿ってせいぜい15m毎に
設けられると推測される。
上記米国特許第4,611,833号は、各パイプの端部にステンレス鋼コーティング
の内部肉盛りを行い、その後に静電方法またはディッピングまたは回転鋳造によ
り肉盛りを必要とする方法を開示する。このような方法では、パイプの長さがせ
いぜい15mに制限されてしまう。従って、パイプラインを建造するには、15m
毎に継手を設けなくてはならない。
本発明によれば、2つのパイプ物品を結合する方法が、管状金属フィッティン
グを各パイプ物品の端部に結合し、各フィッティングが、耐食性金属で形成され
かつフィッティングの自由端まで延びている内面を備え、該内面が、隆起部によ
り分離された溝を備え、前記パイプ物品を熱可塑性ライナでライニングし、耐食
性金属からなるそれぞれのリングを各フィッティング内に押し込んで、ライナを
圧縮しかつライナをフィッティングの溝内に押し込み、フィッティングを溶接に
より結合することからなる。
フィッティング内に押し込まれるそれぞれのリングを使用する代わりに、本発
明の他の方法は、各フィッティング内に収容される、フィッティングより小さい
それぞれのリングを使用し、次に、リングが外方に押し付けられてライナを圧縮
しかつ該ライナをフィッティングの溝内に押し込む。
フィッティングを溶接することによりフィッティングを結合する代わりに、フ
ィッティングの自由端に外部フランジを設け、フィッティングのフランジに通さ
れるボルトによりフィッティングを結合することができる。
パイプ物品自体は、その一方は、耐食性金属で作ることができかつ外部フラン
ジおよびフィッティングを設けることができ、前記一方のパイプ物品はフランジ
に通されるボルトにより結合され、一方のパイプ物品はライナまたはリングを収
容していない。
本発明の方法に使用する本発明のパイプフィッティングは、一定長さの耐食性
金属パイプを有し、該パイプの内面には隆起部により分離された溝が設けられて
おり、パイプの内径より小さい直径をもつ耐食性金属からなるリングを有し、前
記フィッティングは、使用に際し、溶接により一方のパイプ物品に結合され、次
に、パイプ物品およびフィッティングが熱可塑性ライナによりライニングされ、
次に、リングが溝に対向するようにしてライナ内に配置されてライナを溝内に押
し込み、フィッティングが溶接により同類のフィッティングに結合される。
フィッティングは、これと一体の外部フランジを有し、かつ、フランジに通さ
れるボルトにより、一体の外部フランジを備えた同類のフィッティングまたは他
のパイプ物品に結合される。
本発明の方法に使用する別の構成のパイプフィッティングは、耐食性金属から
なる内部クラッディングを備えた一定長さの金属パイプを有し、クラッディング
はフィッティングの第1端部まで延びており、クラッディングの内面は隆起部に
より分離された溝を有し、耐食性金属からなりかつパイプの内径より小さい直径
をもつリングを有し、フィッティングは、使用に際し、前記第1端部とは反対側
の端部が一方のパイプ物品に結合され、次に、パイプ物品およびフィッティング
が熱可塑性ライナによりライニングされ、次に、リングが、溝に対向するように
してライナ内に配置されかつライナを溝内に押し込み、フィッティングが溶接に
より同類のフィッティングに結合される。
このようなフィッティングには、ボルト孔および作用面を備えた一体の外部フ
ランジを設け、作用面がフィッティングの前記第1端部から外方に延びておりか
つ作用面には環状溝が形成されており、前記クラッディングは、前記溝を備えた
前記作用面上にも延びており、該作用面で前記クラッディングは環状溝を形成し
、該環状溝は、使用に際し、両フランジのボルト孔に通されるボルトの作用によ
り、同類のフィッティングまたは他のパイプ物品のフランジの溝に対して圧縮さ
れる。
本発明はまた、本発明の方法により一体に結合される2つのパイプ物品を提供
する。
前記パイプ物品またはパイプフィッティングが鋳鉄で形成されておりかつ別の
鋳鉄または何らかの他の溶接可能な金属に溶接すべき場合には、溶接は、鋳鉄溶
接技術分野で知られている注意を払って溶接を行なわなくてはならない。
以下、添付図面を参照して、2つのパイプ物品の結合方法の実施例を説明する
。
第1A図および第1B図は、2つのパイプ物品間の継手の第1形態の一部を通
る縦断面図である。
第2図は、第1A図および第1B図に示す溝および隆起部を示す拡大部分断面
図である。
第3図は、継手の第2形態に使用されるフィッティングを通る断面図である。
第4図は、パイプ物品に結合された第3図に示すフィッティング(第3図に示
すフィッティングは単なる例示であり、第1A図、第1B図または第7図に示す
種類のフィッティングも同様に使用できる)の一部を通る縦断面図であり、リン
グをフィッティングに押し付ける装置を示すものである。
第5図は、第4図と同様な断面図であるが、リングの別の形態およびリングを
拡大する装置を示すものである。
第6図は、第5図と同様な断面図であるが、リングを拡大する装置の別の実施
例を示すものである。
第7図は、第1図と同様な断面図であるが、外部フランジを備えたフィッティ
ングの別の形態を示すものである。
第1A図および第1B図は、2つのパイプ物品10のうちの一方のパイプ物品
10を示す。この場合の各物品はスチールパイプである。図示しかつ以下に説明
する右側フィッティングの右側端部には、他のパイプ(図示せず)が結合される
。パイプ10および他のパイプは、炭素鋼からなる。
各パイプ10は、環状ガース溶接14により管状炭素鋼フィッティング12に
結合される。両フィッティング12は、環状ガース溶接15により結合される。
各フィッティング12の内部は参照番号16で示す箇所が除去されており、フ
ィッティング12には、溶着により、高耐食性合金クラッディング材料18が肉
盛りされる。クラッディング材料18は、例えば、Inconel 625溶着肉盛り材料
である。材料18の内面は後で機械加工され、環状内側隆起部22により分離さ
れる一連の環状内側溝20を形成する。
除去領域16の内端部と隆起部22との間で、材料18の内面が機械加工され
、幅広溝24が形成されている。隆起部22を越え、フィッティング12の端部
に至る右側領域において、材料18の内面が機械加工され、凹部26が形成され
る。
各パイプ10は管状ライナ30を有している。この例では、ライナ30は中密
度ポリエチレンからなる。ライナ30はパイプ10内に緊密嵌合されかつ緊密嵌
合ライナを固定する任意の方法で取り付けられている。好ましい固定方法は、「
スエージライニング」法である。「スエージライニング」は、British Gasplc.
社の商標である。この方法では、ポリエチレンライナが、該ライナの直径を減少
させるダイを通して引き抜かれる。次に、ライナはスチールパイプを通して引き
抜かれる。ライナは弛緩でき、一定時間経過後にライナがその元の直径に復元し
て、パイプ内に緊密嵌合される。
各ライナ30は、溝20および隆起部22の領域においてリング32により圧
縮される。リング32は、例えばInconel 625溶着肉盛り材料のクラッディング
で形成された耐食性外側コーティング33を備えた適当な金属で形成できる。別
の方法として、リング32の全体をステンレス鋼で形成することもできる。各リ
ング32はフィッティング12内に押し込まれ、ライナ30を溝20内に押し込
む。
各ライナ30はフィッティング12の端部から短い位置に終端し、ライナ材料
からなる環状帯40が、2つのライナ30の端部間のギャップ内に収容される。
環状帯40は外側環状溝42を有し、該溝42内には断熱材からなる環状本体4
4が受け入れられる。好ましい材料として、Burnstone Ceramic Limited社(19
Redgates,Walkington,Beverly,North Humberside HU17 8TS、英国)からRefra
ctory Sheet Type A Moldableの名称で市販されているものがある。この材料は
、酸化アルミニウムと、約35〜40%の水(この水は、乾燥すると喪失する)
、1%の有機質粘結剤および微量のアンモニアを含むケイ酸アルミニウム繊維と
の混合物からなる。溝内に受け入れられると、矩形ストリップの形態をなす材料
18が容易に環状本体44に成形され、その両端部が一体に押圧される。ストリ
ップの両端部のシェーピングおよびモールディングの後、ストリップを加熱して
乾燥させれば、硬い本体44が得られる。
本体44は両フィッティング12間の環状ガース溶接15に跨がり、この下の
ライナ材料のリング40を保護する。
2つのパイプ10を結合する手順は次の通りである。すなわち、
(a)フィッティング12を溶接によりパイプに結合する。
(b)各パイプ10は、ポリエチレンライナ30を、ダイに通し、更にパイプ
10およびフィッティング12に通して引き抜くことにより、「スエージライニ
ング」法を用いてライニングする。24時間の弛緩期間の経過後、ポリエチレン
ライナ30を、パイプおよびフィッティングより僅かに短く切断する。
(c)圧縮リング32を各フィッティング12内に押し込む。ポリエチレンラ
イナ30は、正に10〜20%圧縮されて、フィッティング12の溝20内にお
よび隆起部22に対し押し込まれる。いずれの場合でも、リング32の挿入によ
りフィッティング12内に押し込まれたあらゆる余分のポリエチレンは、クラッ
ディング材料18の内面に機械加工された長溝24に収容される。
(d)ライナが存在しない各フィッティング12の長さを残して、ポリエチレ
ンライナ30を最終長さに切断する。
(e)ライナ材料からなる環状帯40を一方のフィッティング12内に配置し
、他方のフィッティング12を環状帯40上で引き抜く。
(f)環状ガース溶接15により2つのフィッティング12を結合する。溶接
が完全な耐食性を有しかつクラックが存在しないようにするため、TIG(tung
stn inert gas welding)溶接法を使用し、かつクラッディング材料18と相容
性をもつ溶加棒を使用する。断熱材44は、溶接時にリング40を保護する。
第2図は、フィッティング12の溝20および隆起部22の詳細を示す。第2
図における特徴の値を下記の表に示す。

上記例では、パイプ10は219.1mmの外径および200mmの内径を有する。各
フィッティング12の長さは500mmである。
この例では、各パイプ10は、0.5〜1.0kmの長さを有する。パイプラインを建
造する場合、一般的条件は、ライニングパイプ間に全部で2〜3個の継手を設け
ることである。本発明による方法の長所は、このようなパイプラインの大部分
を炭素鋼を用いて建造できることであり、このため、全部に高合金鋼(Duplex)
を使用する場合または腐食防止剤を用いる場合に比べ非常に安価である。
パイプを一体結合する本発明の方法を用いて建造されたパイプラインの作動中
、パイプラインにより搬送される腐食生成物は、最終的にライナ30を透過する
。これにより、スチールパイプ10の内面には非常に小さい腐食が生じる。しか
しながら、一定時間が経過すると腐食生成物の沈着のため、このような腐食作用
は停止する。
フィッティング12のクラッディング18の内面に到達した腐食生成物は、い
かなる腐食をも引き起こさない。各ライナ30は圧縮されかつクラッディング1
8に押し付けられているため、クラッディング18とライナ30との間には、パ
イプラインにより搬送される腐食生成物のためのいかなる通路も存在しない。
前述の環状帯40の使用は任意である。パイプラインにピグが使用される場合
、ピグがライナ30の端部間のギャップを横切るときに、(環状帯40が存在し
なければ)ピグに何らかのダメージが付与される可能性があるため、環状帯40
が設けられる。ピグ作業が不要であることが判明している場合には、環状帯40
を省略できる。
第3図は、フィッティングの変更態様50を示す。フィッティング50は、そ
の全部がDuplexステンレス鋼または他の耐食性金属で形成される。
2つのフィッティング50が、フィッティング12を用いることなく、溶接に
よりパイプ10に結合される。参照番号14で示す箇所の溶接は、Duplex鋼と相
容性のある溶加材を用いて行なわれ、2つのDuplexフィッティング間の参照番号
15で示す箇所の溶接は、適当な溶加材を用いて行なわれる。
第4図は、パイプ10と、溶接14によりパイプ10に結合されたフィッティ
ング50とを示す。ライナ30は、パイプ10およびフィッティング50を通し
て既に挿入されている。
リング32は、ライナ30の内径より大きい外径を有する。リング32がフィ
ッティング50の溝20に対向する位置に到達すると、リング32は、該リング
32自体と隆起部22との間でライナ30を圧縮し、該ライナ30を溝20内に
押し込む。
第4図の部品は、リング32がライナ30内に挿入される直前の位置を示して
いる。
リング32は、フィッティング50の周囲に配置されたクランピング組立体6
6にタイロッド64を介して連結された板62に反力を作用する流体シリンダ6
0を用いて、所定位置に押し込まれる。クランピング組立体66はタイロッド6
4に連結されたクサビ68を有し、該クサビ68は、フィッティング50と係合
する内側のクサビ70に対して反作用する。シリンダ60のピストンロッド72
は、リング32と係合する負荷板74に作用する。
リング32の外面にはシリコーングリースが塗布される。これにより、摩擦が
低減され、ライナ30内へのリング32の挿入が比較的容易になり、従ってライ
ナ30を圧縮して溝20内に押し込むのに必要な力を大幅に減少できる。
リング32が、溝20に対向する最終位置に押し込まれると、ライナ30がそ
の最終長さ(すなわち、フィッティング50の自由端のレベル)に切断される。
フィッティング50の形式の代わりに、第1図に示すフィッティング12の形式
を使用する場合には、ライナ30は、第1図に示すように、フィッティングの内
部の最終長さに切断することができる。
第5図は、ライナ30を圧縮して該ライナ30を溝20内に押し込むのに使用
されるリングの別の形態を示す。この場合、リング80は、最初は、ライナ30
の内径より小さい外径を有する。第5図に示す部品は、リング80が拡大されて
ライナ30を圧縮する直前の位置にある。リング80は溝20に対向する位置に
配置され、流体シリンダ82を使用してリング80を外方に押し拡げる。リング
80はその弾性限度を超えて変形され、ライナ30をリング80とフィッティン
グ50の隆起部22との間で圧縮する。リング80はステンレス鋼または他の耐
食性金属で作られる。
シリンダ82は、クサビ86(その1つのみを示す)に連結されたピストンロ
ッド84を有している。クサビ86は別のクサビ88(その1つのみを示す)に
作用する。クサビ88はリング80に作用する。ピストンロッド84が図面で見
て左方に移動すると、クサビ88が外方に移動され、これにより、リング80が
その弾性限度を超えて外方に押し拡げられる。
第6図は、ライナ30をフィッティング50の溝20内に押し込むリングを使
用する更に別の方法を示す。
リング90は、最初は、ライナ30の内径より小さい外径を有する。第6図に
は、リングが拡大される直前の部品の状態が示されている。
最初に、マンドレル91がライナ30内に挿入される。第6図で見て、マンド
レル91の最も左側の端部は、ライナ30の内径にほぼ等しい直径を有している
。マンドレル91は、流体シリンダ(図示せず)に連結されたプルロッド92に
取り付けられている。
リング90が溝20に対向する位置に配置され、次に、リング90と同じ外径
をもつ管状スチール部材94が、図面で見てリング90の右側に配置される。部
材94は、右方への移動が拘束されている。
次に、流体シリンダを作動して、マンドレル91を、リング90上で、第6図
で見て右方に引き出す。リング90は、その弾性限度を超えて外方に拡大される
。リング90の厚さは、該リング90がマンドレル91により拡大されると、ラ
イナ30を、リング90と隆起部22との間で圧縮して、ライナ30を溝20内
に押し込むことができるように選択される。
マンドレル91によってリング90が拡大されたならば、部材94がライナ3
0から除去され、次に、マンドレルもライナ30から除去される。
第7図は、パイプを、弁のような他のパイプ物品に結合する必要がある場合に
使用できるフィッティングの変更形態を示す。この場合には、部品を溶接で結合
する代わりにボルト組立体を用いて結合する必要がある。
この場合、フィッティング100は一体の外部フランジ102を有し、該フラ
ンジ102は、参照番号14で示す箇所でパイプ10に溶接されるフィッティン
グの端部から離れた端部から、半径方向外方に延びた作用面104を有している
。フィッティング100は、参照番号116で示す箇所が除去されており、フィ
ッティング100の除去領域116上には、高耐食性合金クラッディング材料1
18が、溶接肉盛りとして溶着されている。
フィッティング100は、環状溝122を含む作用面120上の参照番号12
0示す箇所も除去されている。クラッディング118は、領域116上だけ
でなく、溝122を含む除去領域120上にも一連続層として肉盛りされている
。また、クラッディング118は、溝122上に環状溝124を形成している。
溝124は、スチールリング形継手126の一部を収容している。この継手は
、他のパイプ物品132の作用面130内の対応溝128内に一部が収容される
。他方のパイプ物品132は、フィッティング100と同じもので構成できる。
或いは、この他方のパイプ物品132は、例えばステンレス鋼のような耐食性金
属でその全体を作ることができる。
フランジ102はボルト孔136(これらのうちの1つのみを示す)を有して
いる。フィッティング100は、ボルト孔136に通されかつナット(図示せず
)で緊締されるボルト(図示せず)により、他方のフィッティング132または
他方のパイプ物品132に結合される。スチール継手126は、両フランジ間で
圧縮される。
第7図に示す構造の更に別の変更例として、フィッティングの全体を耐食性金
属(例えば、ステンレス鋼)で作ることができる。もちろん、この場合には、い
かなるクラッディングも不要である。
第7図に示したフィッティングは、パイプを他の何らかの種類のパイプ物品に
結合するのに使用されるものとして説明したが、もちろん、第7図に示すフィッ
ティングは2つのパイプを結合するのに使用できる。
リングを使用してライナをフィッティングの溝内に押し込むことについて第1
図、第4図、第5図、第6図および第7図に関連して説明した全ての方法は、本
願に説明した種々のフィッティングとの選択の問題として、互換可能に使用でき
る。
上記任意のパイプ物品10、またはフィッティング12、50または100は
鋳鉄で形成でき、このような鋳鉄物品を含むあらゆる溶接は、鋳鉄に適した既知
