SOLUTION: A yarn containing at least 20% cellulosic fiber is subjected to mercerization treatment in 10-25wt.% aqueous solution of caustic soda under tension and succesively subjected to liquid ammonia treatment. The treated fiber is woven or knitted and the resultant fabric is retreated with liquid ammonia.
