Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.その長さにそって幅と厚さの均一な寸法を有し、本質的に長方形から長円 形の横断面寸法の外側表面を有し、折畳まれておらず、この結果、その外側表面 が完全に露出された延伸膨張ポリテトラフルオロエチレン(PTFE)繊維であ って、 その繊維は本質的に平行な露出したエッジを有し、そのエッジは使用に際 しフィブリル化に抵抗する繊維であり、 その繊維が布帛に織り込まれた織物。 2.布帛が、延伸膨張PTFE繊維に加え、他の繊維もまた含む請求の範囲第 1項に記載の布帛。 3.繊維が、その元の厚さの少なくとも40%までその繊維を圧縮することを 可能にするに十分な気孔体積を有する請求の範囲第1項に記載の布帛。 4.布帛の中に織り込まれた繊維が平坦な配向を維持し、この結果、布帛が平 坦な外側表面を有する請求の範囲第1項に記載の布帛。 5.繊維の幅が0.5〜3.0mmであり、繊維の厚さが50〜250μmで ある請求の範囲第1項に記載の布帛。 6.繊維が加工の際にフィブリル化に抵抗する請求の範囲第1項に記載の布帛 。 7.その全長にそって幅が均一な寸法の延伸膨張ポリテトラフルオロエチレン (PTFE)のストランドを含む繊維であって、 その繊維は、本質的に長方形から長円形の横断面寸法の外側表面を有し、 折畳まれておらず、この結果、その外側表面は完全に露出されており且つ本質的 に平坦であり、 折り畳まれていない配向において、少なくとも0.5mmの 幅と少なくとも50μmの厚さを有する繊維。 8.繊維が圧縮可能であり、13%〜55%の気孔体積を有する請求の範囲第 7項に記載の繊維。 9.繊維が布帛に織り込まれ、平坦な織物を形成するように布帛の中でその繊 維が平坦な配向を保有した請求の範囲第7項に記載の繊維。 10.繊維がフィブリル化に抵抗する請求の範囲第7項に記載の繊維。 11.繊維が、その元の厚さの少なくとも40%までその繊維を圧縮すること を可能にするに十分な気孔体積を有する請求の範囲第7項に記載の繊維。 12.繊維が、15μm未満の根平均二乗の表面仕上まで滑らかである請求の 範囲第7項に記載の繊維。 13.繊維が1.0〜1.9g/ccの範囲の密度を有する請求の範囲第7項 に記載の繊維。 14.延伸膨張多孔質ポリテトラフルオロエチレン(PTFE)のシートを用 意し、そのシートは少なくとも50μmの厚さを有し、 そのPTFEシートをPTFE繊維の多数のストランドにスリットし、 各々のストランドは、少なくとも幅が0.5mmで厚さが50μmであり、且つ その長さにそって実質的に均一な寸法を有し、そして そのPTFE繊維をスプール上に巻取り、そのストランドを平坦な折畳 まれていない配向に維持する、 ことを含む改良された繊維の製造方法。 15.スリットした後、ストランドを高温で処理することをさらに含む請求の 範囲第14項に記載の方法。 16.スリットした後、ストランドを加熱し、延伸膨張させることをさらに含 む請求の範囲第15項に記載の方法。 17.0.5〜3.0mmの幅と50〜250μmの厚さを有するPTFE繊 維を作成することをさらに含む請求の範囲第14項に記載の方法。 18.平坦な織物を作成するように、ストランドを平坦な折畳まれていない配 向に維持しながら、PTFE繊維を布帛に織り込むことをさらに含む請求の範囲 第14項に記載の方法。
