Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.複数のデータ要素から成るディジタルデータを処理するシステムであって、 前記データ要素に応答して、データを表わす係数の木構造を発生する手段であっ て、該木構造は最も粗い情報のレベルで発生される係数から比較的細かい情報の レベルで発生される係数に至る多数の経路を有する、前記木構造を発生する手段 (1408)と、 前記係数を評価して、重要である係数と重要でない係数を判別する手段(141 0)と、 前記木構造のレベルにある根係数から該木構造の1組の端末係数に至るまで該木 構造内の関連する重要でない係数を表わす記号を発生する第1の手段であって、 該記号は前記根係数もその子孫も所定の基準レベルよりも大きい値を持たないこ とを表わしている、前記第1の手段(1412)と、 前記記号を符号化して、出力ビットストリームを発生する手段(1418,14 20)とを含んでいる、前記ディジタル・データを処理するシステム。 2.前記根係数が重要でないと考えられ、前記根係数は根係数の子孫ではなく、 また前記根係数の子孫係数のすべてが重要なものでないと考えられる、請求項1 記載のシステム。 3.重要な子孫係数を有する重要でない係数を表す記号を発生する第2の手段を 含んでいる、請求項1記載のシステム。 4.重要な係数を表す記号を発生する第3の手段を含んでいる、請求項1記載の システム。 5.重要でない係数に対応するエントリーの主リストと重要な係数に対応するエ ントリーの副リストとを発生する手段を含んでいる、請求項4記載のシステム。 6.前記評価手段が次第により細かい関値で前記主リストおよび副リストの各エ ントリーに関連する各係数を評価し、前記主リストおよび副リストの内容を順次 細分化する、請求項5記載のシステム。 7.前記係数はグループ化されない個別の係数である請求項1記載のシステム。 8.前記関値が順次半分にされる請求項6記載のシステム。 9.前記ディジタル・データが画素から成る画像を表わし、複数の分解レベルの 各々において画像を表わす複数のサブバンドに前記画像を分解する変換手段であ って、該変換手段は、前記画素の各々に対して、前記画素の予め定められた特性 を表す係数を発生し、前記木構造が複数の分解レベルからの関連のある係数を含 んでいる、請求項1記載のシステム。 10.その子孫が現われる分解レベルでのより細かい情報に比べて粗い情報を表 す分解レベルで現われる根係数を前記符号が表し、且つ前記根係数が前記より細 かい情報分解レベルにおいて重要でない係数を予測通りに決定する、請求項9記 載のシステム。 11.前記根係数は重要でないものと考えられ、前記根係数は根係数の子孫では なく、前記根係数の子孫係数のすべてが重要なものでないと考えられる、請求項 9記載のシステム。 12.重要な子孫係数を有する重要でない係数を表わす記号を発生する第2の手 段を含んでいる、請求項9記載のシステム。 13.重要な係数を表す記号を発生する第3の手段を含んでいる請求項9記載の システム。 14.重要でない係数に対応するエントリーの主リストと重要な係数に対応する エントリーの副リストを発生する手段を含んでいる、請求項13記載のシステム 。 15.前記評価手段が次第により細かい関値で前記主リストおよび副リストの各 エントリーに関連する各係数を評価し、前記主リストおよび副リストの内容を順 次細分化する、請求項14記載のシステム。 16.前記符号化手段が、入力記号に応じて出力ビットストリームを発生するエ ントリー・コーダーである請求項9記載のシステム。 17.前記係数の各々が関連する画素の振幅を表す請求項9記載のシステム。 18.データ要素を表す符号化されたディジタルのデータ・ストリームを処理す るシステムであって、前記ピット・ストリームに応答し、最も粗い情報レベルで 発生される係数から比較的細かい情報レベルで発生される係数に至る複数の経路 を有する木構造の重要な係数と重要でない係数を表す出力記号を発生するデコー ダー手段(1812)と、 前記記号を評価し、重要な係数を表す第1の記号の発生、および前記木構造のレ ベルにおける根係数から前記木構造の一組の終端係数までの前記木構造内の関連 のある重要でない係数を表す第2の記号の発生を示す出力を発生する手段(18 16,1818)であって、該第2の記号が前記根係数とその子孫の何れも所定 の基準レベルより大きい大きさでないことを表わす、前記データストリームを処 理するシステム。 19.前記根係数が重要でないものと考えられ、前記根係数は根係数の子孫では なく、また前記根係数のすべての子孫係数も重要なものでないと考えられる請求 項18記載のシステム。 20.前記評価手段が、重要な子孫係数を持った重要でない係数を表わす第3の 記号を発生を示す、請求項18記載のシステム。 21.前記評価手段の前記出力に応答し、前記第2の記号の発生の関係として重 要でない係数に対応するエントリーの主リストおよび前記第1の記号の発生の関 係として重要な係数に対応するエントリーの副リストを発生する手段を含んでい る、請求項18記載のシステム。 22.前記係数がグループ化されていない個別の係数であり、且つ前記デコーダ ー手段がエントロピー・デコーダーである、請求項18記載のシステム。 23.次第により細かい関値で前記主リストおよび副リストの各エントリーに関 連する各係数を処理し、前記主リストおよび副リストの内容を順次細分化する手 段を含む、請求項21記載のシステム。 24.前記ディジタル・データが、各々が関連する係数を持った画素から成る画 像を表す、請求項18記載のシステム。 25.前記ディジタル・データが、複数の分解レベルの各々で画像を表す複数の サブバンドに分解される画像を表し、画像を表すサブバンドは各係数で表わされ る複数の画素により構成され、且つ、 前記木構造が複数の分解レベルからの係数の関連するものを包含する、請求項2 4記載のシステム。 26.前記第2の記号が、その子孫が現われる分解レベルでのより細かい情報に 比べて粗い情報を表す分解レベルにおいて現われる根係数を表わし、前記根係数 が、前記より細かい情報分解レベルにおける重要でない係数を予測可能に決定す る、請求項25記載のシステム。 27.前記根係数は重要でないものと考えられ、前記根係数は根係数の子孫では なく、また前記根係数のすべての子孫係数も重要なものでないと考えられる、請 求項25記載のシステム。 28.前記評価手段が、重要な子孫を持った重要でない係数を表わす第3の記号 の発生も示す、請求項25記載のシステム。 29.前記評価手段の前記出力に応答し、前記第2の記号の発生の関数として重 要でない係数に対応するエントリーの主リストおよび前記第1の記号の発生の関 数として重要である係数に対応するエントリーの副リストを発生する手段を含ん でいる、請求項25記載のシステム。 30.前記評価手段が次第により細かい関値で前記主リストおよび副リストの各 エントリーに関連する各係数を評価し、前記主リストおよび副リストの内容を順 次細分化する、請求項29記載のシステム。 31.前記各係数が関連する画素の振幅を表わす、請求項25記載のシステム。
