波を照射し電磁界を発生させて導電材1aを発熱させ、
導電材近辺の溶着部材1とそれに接する部分の被溶着部
材2とを溶解させて、その両者を溶着接合させる。

Description

【発明の詳細な説明】
【0001】
【産業上の利用分野】本発明は、熱可塑性部材を溶着接
合させる方法であって、詳しくは、ガス、上下水道など
に用いる熱可塑性樹脂製の管継手と管とにマイクロ波を
照射して熱溶解させる熱可塑性部材の溶着接合方法に関
するものである。

【従来の技術】従来、熱可塑性部材を溶着接合させる方
法として、例えば、特開平4ー41224号記載の技術
が知られている。この技術は、継手本体が熱可塑性樹脂
で形成され、加熱要素が前記継手本体の内周部に埋設さ
れ、前記加熱要素の両端と接続した端子が、前記加熱要
素埋設領域の外周部に形成された端子用凹部に配設さ
れ、インジケータ用凹部が、前記端子を貫通して形成さ
れているものである。そして、加熱要素の両端と接続し
た端子が、前記加熱要素埋設領域の外周部に形成された
端子用凹部に配設され、インジケータ用凹部が、前記端
子を貫通して形成されているので、コントローラのコネ
クタを間違いなく端子用凹部に差し込んで通電すること
ができる。また、加熱要素の発熱により、継手本体の内
周部及び継手本体に差し込んだ熱可塑性樹脂の外周部が
溶解すると、熱膨張による圧力で溶融樹脂の一部がイン
ジケータ用凹部に浸入するようになり、更に、加熱要素
の発熱により周囲の樹脂が加熱膨張して融着し継手を接
着させるようにしたものである。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】しかしながら、この技
術は、加熱要素を発熱させる手段として、外部より電気
エネルギーを端子を介して行なっているため、コネクタ
を端子に接続したり、外したりする施工に時間がかかる
だけでなく、継手本体を製作する段階で継手本体に端子
を埋め込む必要があり、製作コストが高くなっている。
更に、端子部における接触抵抗のバラツキが直接溶着状
態の不安定さになり、品質的な面からもその信頼性に問
題がある。
【0004】本発明は、前述の課題を解決することを目
的として開発したものである。
【0005】
【課題を解決するための手段】本発明の理論として、誘
電物質にマイクロ波磁界Hを照射すると、Maxwellの電
磁方程式で明らかなように、次の式で表わされる。 rot H=J+(δD/δt)・・・・(1) J=σE がベクトルで表示される。ここで、J:伝導
電流、σ:電気伝導度、E:電界強度、D:変位電流成
分、t:照射時間、(δD/δt):変位電流密度であ
る。そして、マイクロ波磁界Hが誘電物質に照射される
と、(δD/δt)の変位電流成分によりマイクロ波損
失を生じ、熱が発生するが、一方、σEで誘電物質に電
流が流れジュール熱により発熱する。
【0006】従来、マイクロ波電界での食品などの加熱
時、その食品中に異物として金属が混入していると、金
属が異常発熱し金属周辺の食品などを焦がしたり、極端
な時には発火させる現象は広く経験されてきたところで
あるが、この現象を積極的に利用した事例はほとんど知
られていなかった。
【0007】本発明は、前記理論に基づき、誘電物質と
して溶着部材に金属製の導電材を埋設せしめ、マイクロ
波電界内で金属の誘電加熱を生じさせる現象を積極的に
利用したものである。
【0008】本発明は、具体的には、図1ないし図4に
示すように、熱可塑性の被溶着部材2に接する近辺に導
電材1aを埋設せしめた熱可塑性の溶着部材1に、被溶
着部材2を密着させて保持し、次いで、前記溶着部材の
導電材1aにマイクロ波を照射し電磁界を発生させて導
電材1aを発熱させ、導電材1a近辺の溶着部材1とそ
れに接する部分の被溶着部材2とを溶解させて、その両
者を溶着接合させるようにしたものである。

【実施例】以下、添付図面に従い本発明の実施例を説明
する。本発明を実施する装置は、図1ないし図4に示す
ように、熱可塑性の被溶着部材2に接する近辺に導電材
1aを埋設せしめた熱可塑性の溶着部材1と被溶着部材
2とを接合して収容すると共に電磁波をシールドするよ
う設けたオーブンAと、前記接合する溶着部材1と被溶
着部材2とを密着させて保持する部材保持手段Cと、マ
イクロ波を照射して熱可塑性の溶着部材1に埋設せしめ
た導電材1aを発熱させる導電材発熱手段Cと、前記導
電材発熱手段により溶着せしめた溶着部材1と被溶着部
材2とを速やかに冷却硬化させる部材冷却手段Dと、よ
り構成したものである。
【0010】次に、各部材及び各装置、各手段について
その詳細を説明する。被溶着部材2は、熱可塑性樹脂製
より成り、例えば、ポリエチレン樹脂、ポリプロピレン
樹脂、ポリ塩化ビニール樹脂、ポリブデン樹脂などが好
ましい。また、用途及び形状的には、配管用のソケッ
ト、チーズ、エルボ、レジューサ、サドル、キャップな
どの管継手、管、容器などである。
【0011】溶着部材1は、熱可塑性樹脂より成り、図
3に示すように、被溶着部材2に接する近辺に導電材1
aを埋設せしめたもので、熱可塑性樹脂としては、例え
ば、ポリエチレン樹脂、ポリプロピレン樹脂、ポリ塩化
ビニール樹脂、ポリブデン樹脂などが好ましい。また、
用途及び形状的には、配管用のソケット、チーズ、エル
ボ、レジューサ、サドル、キャップなどの管継手、管、
容器などである。また、導電材1aは、例えば、ニッケ
ルククロム、銅、銅・ニッケル合金、アンガン・ニッケ
ル合金、クロメル、鉄、鉄クロムなど各種金属製の線や
小片であり、それら線材や小片を被溶着部材2に接する
近辺に合わせて埋没できる形状、例えば、本実施例では
被溶着部材が管であるためコイル状にしたものである。
なお、溶着部材1と被溶着部材2aとの違いは材質及び
形状的に共通するものがあるが、溶着部材1には、被溶
着部材2に接する近辺に導電材1aを埋設せしめたとこ
ろに特徴がある。
【0012】オーブンAは、図1及び図2に示すよう
に、接続させた溶着部材1と被溶着部材2とを保持する
受け具5を支持するケーシング3と、被溶着部材2を保
持する押え具6を備えた開閉用の蓋4と、該蓋を閉じて
接続させる溶着部材1と被溶着部材2とを収容すると共
に保持できるよう構成したものである。なお、蓋4の内
側上端部位置には後述するマイクロ波照射部13が設け
られており、該マイクロ波照射部は同軸ケーブル12に
接続されているが、蓋4が開閉により移動する場合は、
同軸ケーブル12をフレキシブルなものを用いている。
また、オーブンAの別の例として、図4に示すように、
ケーシングと蓋とを一体的に構成し、一体的に構成され
たケーシング3aには受け具5を備え、側面より押え具
6を移動可能に構成してもよく、本発明は本実施例には
限定されない。
【0013】部材保持手段Bは、接続する溶着部材1と
被溶着部材2とを密着して保持すると共にその保持を解
放可能に設けたもので、図1、図2に示す受け具5と押
え具6とは被溶着部材2の外形に合わせて形成せしめ、
その被溶着部材2のクランプは、図2に示すように、前
記オーブンの蓋4のケーシング3との接合部の一部に切
り溝7を設け、該切り溝部のケーシング端部にボルト8
を回動可能に設け、該ボルトの先端部にはレバー付ナッ
ト9を螺子合わせ、蓋4を閉じた時、ボルト8を切り溝
7部に挿入しレバー付ナット9を廻して蓋4をクランプ
し、押え具6が被溶着部材2を押えて保持できるよう構
成したものである。なお、他の実施例として、図4に示
す一体的に構成されたケーシング3aには受け具5を備
え、側面より押え具6を移動台6aにて移動可能に設
け、受け具5と押え具6とを開けて被溶着部材2を取り
付け後、押え具6を移動させて被溶着部材2をクランプ
し保持できるように構成してもよく、また、蓋4を閉じ
た時、該蓋の重量で被溶着部材2が保持できる場合は、
特別なクランプ機構は不要であり、本発明は本実施例に
は限定されない。また、部材保持手段BはオーブンA内
のマイクロ波が外部に漏洩しないようシールド効果を考
慮した構造としている。
【0014】導電材発熱手段Cは、図1に示すように、
オーブンAの外部位置にマイクロ波発振器10を設置
し、前記オーブンAの上方部位置にはマイクロ波照射部
13を設け、マイクロ波発振器10は同軸導波管変換器
11〜同軸ケーブル12〜マイクロ波照射部13を介し
て電磁波をシールドするオーブンAに接続されている。
そして、マイクロ波発振器10を作動させることによ
り、同軸導波管変換器11〜同軸ケーブル12〜マイク
ロ波照射部13を介してマイクロ波が溶着部材(実施例
では熱可塑性ソケット)に埋没せしめた導電材1aに照
射できるよう構成したものである。
【0015】部材冷却手段Dは、図2に示すように、ケ
ーシング3にはオーブンA内に冷風を送り込む冷却ブロ
ア14を設け、蓋4には排気口15を設け、また、図4
に示すケーシング3の上部側面には排気口15を設け、
導電材発熱手段Cにより溶着せしめた溶着部材1と被溶
着部材2とを速やかに冷却硬化させるよう構成したもの
である。
【0016】次に、その作用を説明する。図3に示すよ
うに、熱可塑性の被溶着部材2に接する近辺に導電材1
aを埋設せしめた熱可塑性の溶着部材1に、被溶着部材
2を密着させ、次いで、オーブンAに設けた受け具5に
取り付け、オーブンの蓋4を閉じてクランプし、密着さ
せた溶着部材1と被溶着部材2とを拘束保持すると共に
シールドする。次いで、マイクロ波発振器10を発振さ
せ同軸導波管変換器11〜同軸ケーブル12〜マイクロ
波照射部13から溶着部材の導電材1aにマイクロ波を
照射し電磁界を発生させて導電材1aを発熱させ、その
発熱により導電材1a周囲の樹脂を加熱し溶解し、それ
に接する部分の被溶着部材2とを溶解膨張させて、溶着
部材1と被溶着部材2とを溶着接合させる。次いで、部
材冷却手段Dを作動させて溶着せしめた溶着部材1と被
溶着部材2とを速やかに冷却硬化させる。そして、クラ
ンプを外し蓋4を開け、接合された溶着部材1と被溶着
部材2とを取外し一工程が完了する。
【0017】前記方法により、以下の条件にて溶着部材
1と被溶着部材2とを溶解させ、溶着部材と被溶着部材
とを溶着接合させた。 実施例 対象物 溶着部材:エスロンガス用EF継手 被溶着部材:エスロンガス用ポリエチレンパイプ 材質 両者ともポリエチレン 寸法 50A マイクロ波発振器 2,450MHZ 1.5KW 加熱溶着時間 25秒 その結果、従来の加熱要素に通電して発熱させる方法と
同じ溶着接合ができ、強度的にも遜色のない製品が得ら
れた。

【発明の効果】本発明は、以上のように構成しているか
ら、被溶着部材に接する近辺に導電材を埋設せしめた溶
着部材に端子を埋め込む必要がないため、溶着部材の製
作コストが低減できる。また、その端子にコネクターを
接続することも無く導電材を発熱させて導電材周囲の樹
脂を加熱し溶解させることができるため、コネクターの
着脱する施工時間が短縮できる。更に、コネクターを接
続する端子部の接触抵抗によるバラツキが無くなり溶着
状態が安定し品質的信頼性も高まるなど多様な効果が期
待できる。

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項1】 熱可塑性の被溶着部材2に接する近辺に
    導電材1aを埋設せしめた熱可塑性の溶着部材1に、被
    溶着部材2を密着させて保持し、次いで、前記溶着部材
    の導電材1aにマイクロ波を照射し電磁界を発生させて
    導電材1aを発熱させ、導電材1a近辺の溶着部材1と
    それに接する部分の被溶着部材2とを溶解させて、その
    両者を溶着接合させることを特徴とする熱可塑性部材の
    溶着接合方法。
