CONSTITUTION:An ethylene-propylene rubber and a natural rubber are compounded pref. in a ratio of (20/80)-(40/60). EPDM is the most suitable as the former rubber.

【従来の技術】従来、防舷材として、天然ゴムの優れた
ゴム弾性を利用して、カ−ボンブラック補強系のもの
(いわゆる黒物)が広く使用されているが、近年、黒物
だけでなく、カラフルな色物のニ−ズが増している。し
かしながら、非カ−ボンブラック補強系のもの(いわゆ
る色物)は、耐候性などが悪く、いまだ実用されるには
いたっていない。すなわち、天然ゴムとスチレン−ブタ
ヂエンゴム系によるものは、耐候性が劣り、塗装をおこ
なうと、衝突時に塗膜が剥離し易い。クロロプレンゴム
系のもは、コスト上問題があり、耐摩耗性が劣る。ポリ
オレフィン系樹脂のものは、耐衝撃性と復元性のバラン
スをとるのが困難である。

【課題を解決するための手段】すなわち、本発明は色物
防舷材用のゴム組成物として、エチレン−プロピレン系
弾性共重合体および天然ゴム成分を含有するものを見出
すにいたった。 そして、両者の好ましい配合比は、エ
チレン−プロピレン系弾性共重合体が20〜40重量
%、天然ゴムが60〜80重量%である。エチレン−プ
ロピレン系弾性共重合体は、20重量%以下で耐候性が
悪化し、40重量%以上で引張強度や引張伸びが低下し
て好ましくない。エチレンン−プロピレン系弾性共重合
体は、エチレン含有量が50〜85重量%の範囲のもの
が好ましく、たとえばEPDM(エチレン−プロピレン
−ジエンメチレンゴム)を選択使用することができる。
なお、天然ゴムはそのまま使用することができる。

式混練機に入れ、混練してコンパウンドを作成する。つ
ぎに、これをロ−ルなどに通して、所定の厚さのシ−ト
に成形する。得られたシ−トを金型などを用いて、所定
の温度、時間で加硫をおこない、所定形状の防舷材に成
形して製品を得る。

物性を測定した結果を第2表−1(実施例1〜4)およ
び第2表−2(比較例1〜5)に示す。なお、防舷材と
して要求される物性値は、一般に引張強度が180以
上、引張伸びが400以上、引裂強度が50以上、硬さ
が72以下、耐摩耗性が0.2以下、永久伸びが15以
下が望ましく、耐候性はここにおける試験でクラック発
生をしないもの(○印)である。クラックが発生したも
のは×印としてある。以上の結果から明らかなように、
実施例のものは、防舷材として必要な物性をすべて具備
するが、比較例のものは、いずれかを欠く。
