Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an optimum impact absorption characteristic of an instrument panel for an automobile without deteriorating its strength and rigidity by forming a hollow part formed across a rib part and a base material and having the thin portion of the base material, where the thickness has partially reduced because of forming the hollow part, be made as an easily breakable part. CONSTITUTION:A rib part 10 and a hollow part 9 are formed by the rib part swelling on the back surface of the base material 6 by blowing an air 5 by means of air injection forming when the base material 6 is formed. The hollow part 9 is provided in the striding manner over the rib part 10 and the base material 6 causing to make a thin portion by the reduction of thickness of the base material 6 at the portion where the hollow part 9 is formed and this portion is made as an easily breakable part 16 which strength and rigidity become deteriorated due to its nature but the arch shaped part along the hollow part 9 of the rib part 10 compensates for the deterioration of the strength and the rigidity.

2. Description of the Related Art Some instrument panels for automobiles are shown in FIG. In the figure, reference numeral 1 denotes a resin base material, and the surface of the base material 1 is covered with a shock absorbing pad 7, which is used when a head of an occupant or the like collides during a vehicle front collision. By compressing 2, the impact force applied to the occupant is reduced and the occupant is protected. In addition, 3 shows an epidermis.

Further, as shown in FIG. 5, a notch groove 4 is provided in the longitudinal direction and the lateral direction on the back side of the base material 1, particularly on the front side of the passenger seat occupant. When the pad 2 alone cannot absorb the impact force because the impact force is too large, the load on the occupant is reduced by breaking the base material 1 in the notch groove 4 (this type of technique is, for example, an actual one). (Kaisho 52-153243).

However, in the above-mentioned conventional vehicle instrument panel, the notch groove 4 has an advantage that the occupant can be protected against a large impact force that cannot be absorbed by the pad 2. Due to the presence of the notch groove 4, the plate thickness of the base material 1 is not constant, and as a result, warpage and deformation occur in the notch groove 4 portion, which causes a decrease in strength and rigidity.

In an instrument panel for an automobile having a base material and a shock absorbing pad covering a front side of the base material, a backside of the base material, at least a portion corresponding to a collision area, By blowing air by air injection molding, a rib portion that bulges on the back surface of the base material and a hollow portion formed over the rib portion and the base material are formed, and this hollow portion partially increases the wall thickness. The thin portion of the base material in which the amount is reduced is configured as an easily breakable portion.

When the occupant collides with the instrument panel during a vehicle frontal collision and the impact force cannot be completely absorbed by the pad, the base material is bent or broken by the easily breakable portion and cannot be completely absorbed by the pad. Absorbs the impact force. On the other hand, the strength and rigidity of the base material, which has been damaged by the formation of the easily breakable portion, is compensated by the rib portion on the back surface of the base material.

1 to 3, reference numeral 5 denotes an instrument panel for an automobile. As shown in FIG. 1, the instrument panel 5 includes a base material 6 made of polypropylene composite material.
And a shock absorbing pad 7 made of urethane foam or the like for covering the front side of the base material 6. In addition, 8 shows an epidermis. On the back surface of the base material 6 of the instrument panel 5, at the position shown by hatching in FIG. 2, as shown in FIG.
The rib portion 10 having is formed.

The rib portion 10 and the hollow portion 9 are formed by air injection molding when the base material 6 is molded.
The rib portion 10 is formed by bulging on the back surface of the base material 6 by blowing. The hollow portion 9 is provided so as to straddle the rib portion 10 and the base material 6 as shown in FIG.
Therefore, in the portion where the hollow portion 9 is formed, the thickness of the base material 6 is reduced to form a thin portion, and this portion is configured as the easily breakable portion 16.

On the other hand, although the strength and rigidity of the easily breakable portion 16 are deteriorated due to its nature, the arched portion of the rib portion 10 along the hollow portion 9 compensates for the lowering of strength and rigidity. The instrument panel 5 is not warped or deformed starting from the rib portion 10.

The present invention is not limited to the above embodiment. For example, when the strength and rigidity cannot be compensated by only the rib portion 10 in the above embodiment, as shown in FIG. By adding more ribs 17,
You may make it match with optimal strength and rigidity. The ribs may be set only in the area where the occupant can collide.

As described above, according to the present invention, since the easily breakable portion is provided, the easily breakable portion is used as a starting point even when an impact force that cannot be absorbed by the pad is applied. By bending or breaking the base material, the impact force can be absorbed, and the occupant can be reliably protected.
