Description
Claims (12)
- (1)中心ファイバおよび6本の外側ファイバを有する緊密にパックされた六角 形アレイの7本の光ファイバのファイバ束を形成し、 7本のファイバのそれぞれにおいて光パワー出力を供給するように外側ファイバ の1つに光源を結合し、ファイバ束から融着されたテーパーを有する結合器を形 成し、テーパーは7本のファイバからの光パワー出力の最小のものが最初に最大 にされたときに停止されるステップを含んでいる光ファイバ結合器の形成方法。
- (2)ファイバ束の部分は毛細管内に存在している請求項1および2のいずれか 1項記載の方法。
- (3)結合器は、任意の入力と任意の出力ファイバとの間の装置を通る最大挿入 損失が最小にされるように十分に融着される請求項2記載の光ファイバ結合器の 形成方法。
- (4)ファイバ束は融着されたテーパーを有する結合器を形成する前にねじられ る請求項1乃至3のいずれか1項記載の方法。
- (5)融着の程度は融着されたテーパーを有する結合器の形成中にファイバに与 えられる予め定められた張力プロフィールを得るために融着の温度を制御するこ とによって制御される請求項1乃至4のいずれか1項記載の方法。
- (6)7本のファイバの全てによって出力された光パワーは光パワー出力の最小 のものが最初に最大にされたときを決定するように監視されている請求項1乃至 5のいずれか1項記載の方法。
- (7)光ファイバはシリカベースの光ファイバである請求項1乃至6のいずれか 1項記載の方法。
- (8)光源は1500nmより大きい波長で光パワーを供給する請求項7記載の 方法。
- (9)テーパーは、7本のファイバに外側ファイバから分割された光パワーの最 小値が最大であるようなものである融着されたテーパーを有する中心ファイバと 6本の外側ファイバを有する結合器を含む光ファイバ結合器。
- (10)中心ファイバと任意の外側ファイバとの間の挿入損失は外側ファイバか ら任意の別のファイバまでの最大挿入損失より大きくない請求項9記載の光ファ イバ結合器。
- (11)上記に示されているような光ファイバ結合器を形成する方法。
- (12)上記に示されているような光ファイバ結合器。
