実用的でない。B. Prior Art Conventionally, there is an optical printer head using a light emitting diode array, such as Japanese Patent Application Laid-open No. 7185/1985. As shown in FIG. 2, light emitting diode arrays 13, 13, . . . are aligned and fixed on a substrate 11. Such light emitting diode array 13, 13
..., a large number of independent light emitting regions 14, 14, ... are formed on the main surface by selective diffusion or the like. The light emitting regions 14, 14... tend to cause light leakage at the ends of the light emitting diode arrays 13, 13.... This occurs even if the light emitting regions 14, 14, . . . are not exposed. Therefore, Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication No. 136379/1984 claims that it is advisable to provide a light shielding film or a reflective film on the end faces of the light emitting diode arrays 13, 13, . . . However, in order to achieve a sufficient effect, the film must be extremely thick, and the workability is also poor, making it impractical.

3, 13, . . . are provided with light emitting elements that are not energized. Therefore, there is a drawback that the effective length of light emission is shortened accordingly. This is because if a light emitting element that is not energized is provided, the energized light emitting region moves away from the end.

It was found that no changes or undesired light spots occurred, only the light emitting areas at the edge of the line10
It was found that the brightness was ~50% higher.

Effect As described above, since the light-emitting diodes made of substantially the same material as the light-emitting diode array are provided close to the ends of the array of light-emitting diode arrays, there is a gap between the light-emitting diode arrays at the ends and the light-emitting diodes. No special brightness changes.

A plurality of light emitting diode arrays 3, 3, . . . are arranged in a row near the center of the substrate 1, and are made of, for example, GaAsP/GaAs. On the surface of the light emitting diode arrays 3, 3..., a large number of light emitting regions 4, 4... obtained by selective diffusion are provided at equal intervals, and wire bond thin lines 5, 5..., etc. are used to connect the substrate 1.
Wiring is applied to patterns 2, 2, and so on. The light emitting diodes 6, 6 are the light emitting diode array 3,
3 are placed and fixed on the substrate 1 in close proximity to the ends of the array.

要はない。 The light emitting diodes 6, 6 are made of substantially the same material as the light emitting diode arrays 3, 3, . . . , and for example, defective or damaged light emitting diode arrays can be used. Since the light-emitting diodes 6, 6 are simply placed close to the ends of the light-emitting diode arrays 3, 3, . . ., there is no need for wiring with thin wire bond wires or the like.

Effects of the Invention As described above, in the present invention, the light emitting diode 6 made of substantially the same material as the light emitting diode array 3 is provided close to the end light emitting diode array 3. Therefore, similar to the phenomenon in which no special brightness change (light peak) occurs in the gap between adjacent light emitting diode arrays, there is a special brightness change in the gap between the end light emitting diode array 3 and the adjacent light emitting diode 6. Since no changes occur, there are no particular brightness changes at the ends of the light emitting diode array.

Furthermore, unlike conventional methods, difficult thick film work such as a light-shielding film is not required, making manufacturing easier and eliminating short-circuit accidents caused by film attachment.
