Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the polishing where cracks or chips are extremely few, especially for a fragile material easy to cause cracks or chips such as ceramics by putting the motion of media in liquid-form medium in spiral shape by making one side of unbalance weights heavier than the other. CONSTITUTION:Vibration is caused by attaching unbalance weights 2a and 2b to both ends of a vibration motor 3, and it is given to a circle-shaped barrel vessel 1 so as to perform barrel-polishing. At this time, the quantity of liquid- form medium to be put in the barrel vessel 1 is made the one by which a work and media are all under the level of water, and one side 2b of the unbalance weights 2a and 2b at both ends of the vibration motor 3 is adjusted to be heavier than the other 2b so as to put the motion of the media in liquid-form medium in spiral shape at time of vibration.

2. Description of the Related Art Barrel polishing is a widely used method for chamfering and finishing various parts, and barrel methods such as a rotary barrel, a vibrating barrel and a centrifugal barrel have been proposed and widely used. It is also known that barrel polishing can be used for processing such as chamfering of ceramics (for example, "Ceramics Processing Handbook" P309).
~ 319, Construction Industry Research Council, issued November 30, 1987). Further, as a recent improvement of the vibrating barrel, in particular, the above-mentioned "Ceramics Handbook" describes a device for vibrating by providing an unbalanced weight of 1: 1 at both ends of the vibrating motor. In this device, as shown in FIG. 1, a vibration motor 3 having an upper unbalanced weight 2a and a lower unbalanced weight 2b attached thereto is fixed to a circular barrel tank 1 via a rib 4, and the vibration motor 3 is a coil. It is fixed to the frame 6 via the spring 5. To the barrel tank 1, a medium, an object to be processed, and 3 to 10% of water in the barrel tank are added, and vibration is given by a vibration motor 3. Then, the flow state obtained by this device becomes spiral as shown by the arrow in FIG.
In such a spiral flow state, there is less one-dimensional collision between the media and the work piece or the work piece,
The medium and the work piece slide on each other in the process of spirally flowing in the same direction, and the polishing progresses gently. Therefore, it is said that it is suitable for processing such as bending of a particularly brittle material.

When the above-mentioned barrel polishing is applied to a particularly brittle material such as ceramics, it is liable to be chipped when shocked, and it is a hard material that is difficult to polish. It must be done in a way that doesn't give. Of the various barrel methods, the vibrating barrel is considered to be the most suitable method for these purposes and is often used. However, chipping occurs even in the vibrating barrel that can obtain the above-mentioned three-dimensional spiral flow state, and especially when barrel polishing a large number of small parts, in addition to impact by the barrel, parts contact each other. However, there is a problem in that this causes chipping and cracks. An object of the present invention is to provide a method of polishing by chamfering or finish polishing with a barrel for a large number of small parts which are likely to be cracked or chipped.

Means for Solving the Problems The present inventor has studied the conditions for suppressing the occurrence of cracks and chips using the vibrating barrel device having an unbalanced weight as shown in FIG. The invention has been reached. That is, according to the present invention, in the vibrating barrel polishing method in which vibration is generated by attaching unbalanced weights to both ends of the vibration motor to give vibration to the circular barrel tank and barrel polishing is performed, the amount of the liquid medium to be put in the barrel tank is , The work piece and the media are all below the water level when horizontal, and one of the unbalance weights at both ends of the vibration motor is adjusted to be heavier than the other so that the motion of the media in the liquid medium becomes spiral when vibrating. It is a vibrating barrel polishing method characterized by the above. Further, in the apparatus of the present invention, vibration is generated by attaching unbalanced weights to both ends of the vibration motor to give vibration to a circular barrel tank to perform barrel polishing. Is a heavier than the other, and is a vibrating barrel polishing device.

The most important feature of the present invention is that the amount of liquid medium, which is only 3 to 10% of the barrel tank volume in the ordinary barrel polishing, is such that when the barrel tank is horizontal, the work piece and the medium are all under water. The above has been made, and even when such a large amount of liquid medium is contained, it has been found that the movement of the medium in the liquid medium can be made spiral by making the unbalanced weight heavier than that of the other.
In the method of the present invention, since the medium can be moved spirally in the liquid medium, the occurrence of chipping or chipping due to the collision of the workpieces can be significantly reduced as compared with the case where the conventional liquid medium is used in a small amount. .. Further, the method of the present invention can suppress the occurrence of defects such as chipping even when polishing ceramics that are prone to cracks and chips. The liquid medium of the present invention,
Water, alcohol, or other degreasing solvent can be used. The device of the present invention can spiral the movement of media in a liquid medium when it contains a large amount of the liquid medium. In particular, when the vibration motor is provided such that its axis is substantially vertical when the vibration motor is stationary, it is preferable that the lower unbalance weight be heavier than the upper unbalance weight. At this time, the weight ratio of the upper and lower unbalanced weights is preferably 3/4 or less.

EXAMPLES The present invention will be described in more detail based on examples. Using the vibrating barrel device shown in FIG. 1 having a tank volume of 60 liters, barrel polishing of an alumina part (5 × 10 × 3 mm) as a workpiece was performed under the conditions shown in Table 1. The medium was a sintered medium containing fused alumina as a main component, and a spherical one having a diameter of 5 was used in an apparent volume of 50 liters. By changing the weight ratio of the upper and lower unbalance weights, the amount of water, and the number of alumina parts charged, the movement of the media and the occurrence of cracks and cracks were observed. The results are shown in Table 1. Inventive Example 1 in Table 1
5 and Comparative Examples 1 and 2 are different in the weight ratio of the upper and lower unbalanced weights. At this time, the amount of water is 20
The media and alumina parts are all under water when the barrel tank is horizontal.
From Table 1, under these conditions, if the weight ratio of the upper and lower unbalanced weights is 3/4 or less, the movement of the medium becomes spiral, and polishing with less occurrence of chipping and cracks could be performed. On the other hand, in Comparative Examples 1 and 2 in which the weight ratio of the upper and lower unbalanced weights is 4/5 and 1/1,
The movement of the media was only vibration, and it was not possible to take music. The evaluation was performed by the frequency of occurrence of cracks and cracks of 0.2 mm or more and the corner radius (curving).

Further, in Comparative Examples 3 to 5 in which the amount of water is reduced to 2 liters so that the workpiece and the media are all exposed on the water surface when the barrel tank is horizontal, the media is changed even if the frequency given to the barrel is changed. Although a spiral movement was obtained, the number of occurrences of chips and cracks was significantly larger than that of the examples of the present invention, which was not preferable.
