Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a transfer foil to be transferred at an external appearance of metallic coating tone for exposing a design external appearance substantially equivalent to metallic painting to a transfer medium by forming a transparent picture pattern layer of high transparency picture ink having specific value of more of light beam transmittance. CONSTITUTION:A transparent picture pattern layer 4 is a decorative layer for improving desired decoration properties, and exposes the brightness 4 of a metallic layer 5 as a lower layer of the layer 4 after transferring on an outer surface. Thus, the layer 4 is formed of high transparency picture ink having 40% or more of light beam transmittance. If the ink having less than 40% of the transmittance is used, the layer 4 itself is deteriorated in transparency, it cannot sufficiently transmit the gloss of the metallic layer and cannot expose the external appearance of a beautiful metallic painting tone to be obtained. The high transparency ink is obtained by solely, mixing or adding pigment such as organic pigment, titanium, carbon, silica, etc., with vehicle such as acryl, acrylstyrene copolymer to be used for known printing ink.

As a so-called metallic transfer foil that can give a metallic paint-like design, it has a release layer on a base sheet, a pearl layer made of natural or synthetic pearl pigment and a vehicle, a printed pattern layer,
A transfer foil with an adhesive layer laminated thereon, or a release layer, a pattern layer, and an adhesive layer laminated on a base sheet, and in particular, the pattern layer is coated with titanium oxide, carbon, icridone, cyanine, etc. in an aluminum pigment ink. Transfer foils formed using metallic ink colored by dispersing pigment ink are known.

However, with conventional metallic transfer foils, the former has the warm, soft shine and metallic feel of pearl pigments, while the latter has good aluminum pigment ink and pigment (coloring) ink in the pattern layer. The result is a hard metallic appearance with no depth, and in the end, no transfer foil can express the design characteristics unique to metallic coatings.
There was still room for improvement.

In principle, the base sheet 2 can be the same as those used for this type of transfer foil, and as shown in FIG. Any material may be used as long as it has releasability to the layer. Specifically, synthetic resin films such as polyester typified by polyethylene terephthalate, polypropylene, polyethylene, polyamide, synthetic paper, papers, etc.
Composite materials made by laminating these materials can also be used, if necessary. Moreover, a gloss type base sheet with few fine irregularities on the surface is preferable because it can produce the deep mirror-like design effect unique to metallic coatings. The thickness of the base material is usually 5 to 200 μm, preferably 12 to 50 μm.

The peeling layer 3 remains on the transferred object side when the base sheet is peeled off during transfer, and not only facilitates peeling between the base sheet and the transfer layer side, but also serves to protect the transfer layer after transfer. be. Further, the release layer is a highly transparent resin layer similar to the transparent pattern layer. Examples of the resin material constituting this release layer include polymethacrylate, polybutyl methacrylate, urethane, vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer, and the like, and these may be used alone or in combination.

The transparent pattern layer 4 is a decorative layer for improving desired decorativeness, and also allows the glittering properties of the metallic layer 5, which is the lower layer of the pattern layer 4 after transfer, to be exposed on the outer surface through the pattern layer 4. It is possible to do so. Therefore, the light transmittance of pattern layer 4 is 4.
Formed with highly transparent pattern ink of 0% or more. The above light transmittance was measured using a spectrophotometer. If a pattern ink with a light transmittance of less than 40% is used, the pattern layer 4 itself will be poor in transparency, and the desired beautiful metallic paint-like appearance will be achieved, allowing the glitter of the metallic layer to be fully transmitted through. cannot be expressed. The above-mentioned highly transparent pattern ink is produced by adding azo-based, Ga pigments such as diazo, soanine, quinacridone, and polyazo, titanium, carbon,
Constructed by adding pigments such as warping force alone or in a mixture. In order to create a highly transparent pattern ink, the particle size is 5.
It is desirable to use pigments of less than .mu.m, more preferably from 0.1 to 1 .mu.m, and to add such pigments in a proportion of 30% by weight or less, preferably 5 to 20% by weight, based on the vehicle. The pattern layer 4 is formed by a known printing method or coating method using the above-mentioned pattern ink, and its thickness is usually 1 to 1.
It is about 10 μm. Further, the pattern N4 may be a pattern layer (partially formed) consisting of a pattern, a design, etc., or a hem layer, or may be composed of a combination of these pattern layers and hem layers as appropriate. .

The metallic layer 5 is not particularly limited as long as it emits glitter, and is usually composed of a metallic pigment ink layer, a metal vapor deposition layer, etc., and if necessary, it may be a combination of two or more of these layers. Good too.

The adhesive layer 6 fixes the transfer layer and the object to be transferred upon transfer. It is formed using a conventionally known adhesive material. Specific examples of the adhesive material include acrylic, acrylic-styrene copolymer, vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer, polyurethane, chlorinated rubber, and cyclized rubber. As shown, the transfer foil may be constructed by partially providing a transparent pattern layer 4 and providing a masking pattern layer 8 for concealing the underlying layer in the non-forming portion.

This masking pattern layer 8 may be formed of a pattern ink that can hide the glitter of the underlying metallic layer, and is not particularly limited. In this way, the pattern layer 4 and the pattern layer 8, which are different and partially present in each other, can be formed accurately and easily by using printing means.

As explained above, the transfer foil of the present invention is formed by laminating a metallic layer and a transparent pattern layer with extremely high transparency. It is possible to impart a beautiful decorative appearance to the transferred object, which is very similar to the metallic paint feel that harmonizes with the glittering appearance of the transfer material. In addition, since the transparent pattern layer can be formed using a printing method using highly transparent pattern ink, it is possible to create a new design in which the pattern layer is partially provided and a part of the pattern has a metallic paint-like appearance. It is now possible to add a unique design.
