Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a water-retaining sheet for a plant-growing mat having sufficiently high water retainability and effective in preventing the invasion of weeds by forming a number of water-retaining recesses on the upper surface of a water-retaining sheet and opening a number of through-holes in the sheet. CONSTITUTION:A number of water-retaining recesses 8 are formed on the upper surface of a sheet made of foamed plastic, etc., and a plurality of through holes 7 are opened in the sheet to drain excess water. A plurality of protrusions 9, 10 are formed on the upper and the lower surfaces of the sheet to secure spaces above and below the sheet. The water-retaining sheet 5 produced by the above process is laminated with a lower fleece layer 2 made of a decomposable natural fiber, a decomposable plastic foil 3 having a number of holes 4 and an upper fleece layer 1 to obtain a plant-growing mat 11.

Reference numeral 5 denotes a water-retaining sheet made of foamed plastic or the like provided on the lower surface of the lower fleece layer 2, and the upper surface thereof has a number of water-retaining recesses 6 formed therein, as well as a plurality of through holes 7 for draining excess water. It is a provision.

Therefore, when seeds 8 are sown on the upper surface of the upper fleece layer 1 as shown in FIG.
It passes through the eyes of the fibers and gradually descends. When water is poured from above the upper fleece layer 1, moisture is supplied to the seeds 8 and they germinate. In addition, the injected water is poured into plastic foil 3
Excess water passes through the lower fleece layer 2 through the holes 4 and accumulates in the water retention recesses 6 of the water retention sheet 5, and excess water is discharged through the through holes 7.
