A direct drive wheel incorporating the stator and rotor of an electric motor, which is a driving power source, is disclosed in, for example, Japanese Utility Model Application Laid-Open No. 62-139814. Research and development is progressing on two-, three-, and four-wheel electric vehicles that use these direct drive wheels as drive wheels, and some have been successfully implemented.

A brake disc C is arranged, and a wheel e incorporating a direct drive motor d is further arranged outside the brake disc C, and the wheel e and the brake disc C are directly connected.

This is probably due to the fact that such a structure is reasonable for the arrangement of rotating parts and there is no problem in terms of ensuring strength.

Therefore, in the arrangement of the conventional structure described above, the distance 191 between the connection point of the suspension arm a to the upright) b and the center of the tire f, which is the final point of application of the vehicle weight, is increased, thus supporting the rotating part. A large moment will be generated in the structure. For this reason, not only is there a significant disadvantage in terms of the strength of each component, but in the case of steering wheels, input from the road surface (support reaction force) generates a large moment, making it extremely difficult to ensure steering stability. These are issues that need to be solved.

In a wheeled electric vehicle, a direct drive motor 3 is placed at an outside position of an upright 2 to which a suspension arm l is connected, and a brake mechanism 4 is placed at an inside position. The direct drive motor 3 and the brake alui, 4 are connected via a rotating shaft 6 that passes through the upright 2 on the central axis of the wheel 5, making it possible to transmit rotational force and braking force. It is characterized by having direct drive wheels.

Therefore, the distance from the connection point of the suspension arm l to the upright 2 to the center of the tire 11 is reduced, and the generated moment is also reduced.

The rotor bracket 8 of the direct drive motor 3 is fixedly attached to the inside of the wheel disc 7 with several ports 9 and cap nuts 10. A rotor (field) made of permanent magnets placed around the outer periphery of the stator 13 of the direct drive motor 3! 4 is supported by the rotor bracket 8 and the opposite bracket 15.

The rotating shaft 6 is disposed so as to pass through the hollow portion of the stator 13 and the hollow portion of the upright 2 disposed adjacent to the direct drive motor 3, respectively. A brake drum 18 of a brake mechanism 4 disposed inside the upright 2 is integrally connected to the left end of the rotating shaft 6 protruding from the hollow portion of the upright 2 by a spline 17. Therefore, the wheel 5, the rotating portion of the direct drive motor 3, and the brake drum 18 are in an integral relationship such that rotational force and braking force are transmitted via the rotating shaft 6.

Even if a direct drive motor 3) is adopted,
Since the distance gI from the connection point of the suspension arm l to the upright 2 to the center of the tire 11 is not very large (it is kept at the same level as a conventional vehicle), the moment generated due to the distance is also small. Therefore, it is extremely useful for ensuring the strength of each part. That is, sufficient strength can be ensured even if the parts are lightweight and small, and furthermore, due to the weight reduction, rotational resistance is also achieved by downsizing the bearings, etc., and the output load is significantly reduced.
