Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate disposal of the waste toner of an electrophotographic printer and to enable its discard without staining hands and clothing by heating the waste toner to solidify it. CONSTITUTION:The waste toner 2 is placed in a vessel and heated with a heater 1 to melt it and it is made solid after cooling. For example, the toner 2 is heated with the heater 1 as a heating unit or by using the heat of a fixing device, and the accumulated toner 2 is heated by heat conduction from the heat 1, and melted and gradually made solid as it is cooled. The heat of the heater 1 is insulated by setting a heat insulating board 4 in order to avoid unfavorable effect on the electrophotographic printer (EP) system 3. When the toner 2 is fully accumulated and melted and solidified, it is separated from the vessel, and discarded, thus permitting the waste toner to be easily discarded without staining hands and clothing.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION [Field of Industrial Application] The present invention relates to waste toner processing for electrophotographic printers. [Prior Art] Conventionally, in this type of electrophotographic printer, waste toner that could not be transferred was stored in a container. For this reason, once the container was full of waste toner, it was disposed of as a powder. [Problems to be Solved by the Invention] The conventional waste toner treatment described above has the drawbacks of handling colored powder and staining hands and clothing. [Means for Solving the Problems] In the waste toner processing method for an electrophotographic printer of the present invention, waste toner is received in a container, and the waste toner is heated with a heater to melt and solidify.
