Description

ングの組合わせ使用に関する。

化器の実施上の問題点は、後述されるように、エラー訂
正コーディングを使うシステムで協調的に動作しないこ
とである。
ィジタル情報信号の免疫性を高めるために用いられるコ
ーディング技術である。そのような高い免疫性はデータ
通信システムの受信機ユニット中の情報信号を高精度に
回復させる確率を高める。エラー訂正は、ブロック又は
畳み込みコーディングとして特色づけられている。格子
コーディングは、畳み込みコーディングを用い、通信シ
ステムの要求する帯域幅に悪影響を与えない1つの良く
知られたエラー訂正コーディング技術である。
ー訂正ビットが、1つ又はそれ以上の情報ビットの“ブ
ロック”と共に伝送される。これらの各エラー訂正ビッ
トは、情報ビット又は関連ブロック中のビットの値によ
って決められた値を持っている。エラー訂正のために増
加した数のビットを伝送するこのプロセスは、畳み込み
コーディングでもまた用いられているが、ブロック・コ
ーディングとは異なり、畳み込みコーディング中の各ビ
ットの値は、関連ブロック中の情報ビットの関数であり
、前に送られたブロックの数である。

供する。しかし、判定フィードバック等化器がエラー訂
正を結合するディジタル信号に作用する時は、システム
の性能低下が見られる。事実、エラー訂正又は判定フィ
ードバック等化器のいずれかを単独で使う時に得られる
ものより結果的に性能がかなり下回っている。従って、
もし判定フィードバック等化器とエラー訂正コーディン
グの両方を組合わせた利得を1つの通信システムで得ら
れることができれば、通信の著しい改善が可能となる。

ある。Mが適切に選択されれば、いずれかのデコーダに
よる2つの連続する記号の回復を、ノイズが損なう確率
を低減できる。さらに、判定フィードバック等化器にお
ける固有のエラー伝搬効果は、別々のデコーダにわたっ
て分配される。

ム送信機101は、帯域制限チャネル102への伝送に
適した信号を作る。チャネルでは、直線(振幅や位相)
歪みや付加的なノイズのような各種チャネル損傷が入る
。この損傷した信号はモデム受信機103で処理され、
チャネル損傷結果の訂正が試みられる。
ムに対する従来技術による送信機101においては、2
進法データの連続流は、あるマッピング・ルールによっ
て、別個の多段(普通は多次元)記号をビットの連続ブ
ロックに割当てる記号マッピング装置104へ直接与え
られる。直交振幅変調(QAM)を用いた9,6Kb/
sの非符号化データ伝送のための、CCITTのv.3
2標準に対して用いられる1つのマッピング・ルールは
、第3図に示される16点信号配置(cons t e
1 1.a t ion) 301によって定められ
る。1つの配置の各信号点は、関連したビット・コード
を有している。例えば、信号点304はコード1111
を持つ。この例では4つのビットが16の可能な2次元
(即ち複素数)記号の1つヘマップされる。これらの記
号は、9.6Kb/sの所望ビット速度を生ずる1秒当
たり2400記号速度で作られ、帯域制限電話チャネル
102で伝送される正しいスペクトル形状を与える送信
フィルタ109を通過する。そのような非符号化信号の
ための代表的受信機は、受信機103中にアダプティブ
線形等化器110とスライサ111を有している。線形
等化器110はチャネル中の線形損傷を補償し、スライ
サ111は、第3図の信号配置301の16点のどの1
つが各記号周期中に受信されていたかを決定する。例え
ば、もし等化器110の出力が複素数の点303の場合
には、スライサはユークリッド幾何学(Eucllde
an )距離で最も近い信号配置の点(例示点304)
を選ぶ。スライシングの後、受信機は、受信したスライ
ス記号から9.6Kb/sの2進データ流を回復する記
号対ビット・マッピング動作(図示せず)を行う。勿論
、QAM信号は送信機では変調、受信機では復調が必要
であるが、これらの動作説明は周知なので省略する。

定義され、許可された記号シーケンスのみが送信される
ことを保証するため、信号配置における重複を用いる。

経験的にも確認されている。 v.32モデムのコード
化改訂版は、約14.4Kb/s迄のデータ速度におい
て、公衆交換電話網に使用し、十分な性能を違或可能で
ある。ただし、そのためには信号配置302の点の数を
増さねばならない。14.4Kb/sのデータ速度は、
2400ボーの記号速度と1記号当たり6ビットの情報
で達成できる。追加ビットがコーディングのために必要
なので、合計128の2次元点が信号配置中に必要にな
る。19.2Kb/s及びそれ以上のデータ速度に対し
ては、モデムは、たとえコーディングできたとしても、
電話チャネルに発生する付加的ノイズに余りに敏感にな
り過ぎるため、信号配置の中の点の数を増すことは困難
である。その代わり、合理的な量の点の数を保有するこ
とや、チャネルを通して送られる記号速度を均すことは
可能である。悪いことには、記号速度の増加は送信アナ
ログ信号用の帯域幅の増大を来たし、更に電話チャネル
を通る低、高周波数の信号の過酷な振幅歪みを生じるこ
とになる。過酷な振幅歪みを扱うことは、いわゆるノイ
ズ増大問題を生じるため、第1図の線形等化器110に
とり大変具合の悪いことである。線形等化器は本質的に
チャネルを“反転”し、即ち、それはチャネルに過酷な
損失を生ずる周波数領域で大きなゲインを生ずる。その
ような動作は、チャネルを等化し、記号間干渉を排除す
る一方、ノイズを増幅し、受信機の性能を低下させる。

作る記号マッピング装置208へそれらを送る。ここで
Tは記号周期である。
この実施例では、記号マッピング装置208を伴うエン
コーダ206−iのカスケードは、格子エンコーダと機
能的に同じものと考えることができる。エンコーダ20

ライサ213が誤った記号を選択することによってエラ
ーを生じると、たとえ追加ノイズが単独でこれらのエラ
ーを生成したのではなかったとしても、このエラーは通
常、減算器212によって作られる次のサンプルのスラ
イシングに影響を及ぼし、より多くのスライシング・エ
ラーを招く。この現象は、フィードバック・フィルタ2
14によって設けられたフィードバック経路に起因する
、DFEの動作に固有のものであり、エラー伝搬と呼ば

ィングとDFEを使うシステムより良い性能を提供する
ことが経験的に見出だされている。

する、2つの訂正動作の連携によるものである。第1の

なデコーディング装置によって容易に扱えるような小さ

いる記号周期中で、減算器212の出力は、スイッチ2
15を経て洛子デコ−ダ216−1の入力と接続されて

v.32の信号配置302について簡単に説明する。

どちらか1つのみを使用して、チャネルによって伝送さ
れねばならぬ記号を選ぶことができる。使用すべき部分
集合は、この記号周期中のエンコーダのいわゆる状態に
よって決められる。与えられた記号周期中の1つの状態
から、次の記号周期中の他の状態への移行は、任意では
なく、選ばれた畳み込みエンコーダによって決められる
。受信機203に戻って、格子デコーダ216−1が、
減算器212からスイッチ215を介して新しい入力サ
ンプルを受信したと仮定する。格子デコーダ216−1
は状態移行の許された全てのシーケンスを監視すること
ができ、入力サンプルの十分長い記号列を処理すること
によって各シーケンスに有望な距離を付与することがで
きる。この様にして、それは、新しく受信したサンプル
は部分集合AかBかのどちらに属すのがより好ましいか
を決めることができる。

・スライサ213は、デコーダ216−1から受信した
情報によって、部分集合AかBかのどちらかの基準点に
関してスライスする。
情報が常に正しければ、その性能(エラーを生じる確率
)は、非コード化信号配置301を操作する、より単純
化された“おし(dumb)″のスライサの性能と同じ
である。実際には多少の性能低下が観察されるが、スマ
ート・スライサはコード化配置302を操作するときは
、常におし(dumn)のスライサを性能的に凌いでい
る。
示される大部分のモデム機能に関する場合のように、ス
マート◆スライサはディジタル信号プロセッサ(DSP
)によって実行されるプログラムのサブルーチンとして
便利に使用できる。

Claims (14)
- (1)出力を有する判定フィードバック等化器(例えば
、210)、 前記判定フィードバック等化器に接続された複数のデコ
ーダ(例えば、216−1…216−M)前記複数のデ
コーダ間で、前記判定フィードバック等化器の出力から
のデータをインタリーブする手段(例えば、215)、 を有することを特徴とする通信システム用受信機。 - (2)前記デコーダの各々は格子デコーダであることを
特徴とする請求項1に記載の通信システム用受信機。 - (3)更に、前記複数のデコーダの各々のデコーダの出
力を循環式に受信する手段(例えば、217)を含むこ
とを特徴とする請求項1に記載の通信システム用受信機
。 - (4)更に、前記第1デコーダと異なったコーディング
方法を用いる第2デコーダ(例えば、218)を含み、
前記第2デコーダは前記インタリーブ手段の出力に接続
されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の通信シス
テム用受信機。 - (5)前記第2デコーダは、リード・ソロモン・デコー
ディングを用いることを特徴とする請求項4に記載の通
信システム用受信機。 - (6)前記判定フィードバック等化器は、判定をし、そ
の判定をするために前記複数のデコーダから受信した情
報を用いるスライサ(例えば、213)を含むことを特
徴とする請求項1に記載の通信システム用受信機。 - (7)データを、出力を有する判定フィードバック等化
器に結合するステップ、及び 複数のデコーダ間において前記出力で前記データをイン
タリーブするステップ、 を有することを特徴とする通信システム用データ回復方
法。 - (8)更に、前記複数のデコーダの各々の出力を、前記
複数のデコーダとは異なるデコーディング処理を用いる
第2のデコーダに結合するステップを含むことを特徴と
する請求項7に記載の通信システム用データ回復方法。 - (9)前記デコーディング処理は、リード・ソロモン・
デコーディングであることを特徴とする請求項8に記載
の通信システム用データ回復方法。 - (10)第1コーディング方法を用いてデータ記号をコ
ーディングする第1エンコーダ(例えば、204)、 前記第1エンコーダとは異なる第2コーディング方法を
用いて、前記第1エンコーダより出力されたデータ記号
を更にコーディングする複数の第2エンコーダ(例えば
206−1…206−M)、及び 前記複数の第2エンコーダ間で前記第1エンコーダの出
力をインタリーブする手段(例えば、205)を有する
ことを特徴とする通信システム用送信機。 - (11)更に、前記複数の第2エンコーダの出力を、伝
送チャネルへ、循環式に結合する手段(例えば、207
)を含むことを特徴とする請求項10に記載の通信シス
テム用送信機。 - (12)前記第1エンコーダは、リード・ソロモン・コ
ーディングを用いることを特徴とする請求項10に記載
の通信システム用送信機。 - (13)前記複数の第2エンコーダの各々は、格子コー
ダであることを特徴とする請求項10に記載の通信シス
テム用送信機。 - (14)送信機(例えば、201)は、複数のコーダ(
例えば、206−1…206−M)、前記複数のコーダ
間で伝送される記号をインタリーブする手段(例えば、
205)、伝送チャネルを経て前記コーダの出力を結合
する手段(例えば、207−209)を含み、かつ 受信機(例えば、203)は、判定フィードバック等化
器(例えば、210)、前記判定フィードバック等化器
に接続された複数のデコーダ(例えば、216−1…2
16−M)、及び、前記複数のデコーダ間で前記判定フ
ィードバック等化器の出力からのデータをインタリーブ
する手段(例えば、215)を含むことを特徴とする通
信システム。
