Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily remove a yarn end by stitching a preceeding booklet and a succeeding booklet by continuous sewing yarn and applying circular arc-shape or triangular notch cutting to the start end and terminal of the fine line of each booklet to remove yarn ends. CONSTITUTION:Booklets 1 each consisting of leaves flatly superposed one upon another are preparatorily cut accurately in the previously process to be subjected to dimensional setting and parallel delivery and successively fed on a feed path in a flat state to be subjected to yarn stitching by a sewing machine 2 and brought to a state mutually connected by continuous sewing yarn while they are subjected to yarn stitching along the center lines thereof. After yarn stitching is applied, the sewing yarn connecting the respective booklets 1 is cut to separate the booklets. By this separation, yarn ends 5 are liberated from the start end and terminal of the fine line of each booklet in a hair like state. Each booklet 1 thus separated is fed to punching devices 6 and arc-like, triangular or square notch cutting 13 is applied to the start end and terminal of the fine line 4 to remove the yarn ends.

When binding conventional bound booklets, the sewing machine is operated continuously, so the leading and trailing booklets on the bookbinding line are connected by continuous sewing thread, and the sewing machine hook separates each booklet from behind. A process of separating and removing thread tails is essential. If this thread tail remains and is subjected to a subsequent process such as cover pasting, the thread tail will wrap around the inner surface of the cover and be attached together with the cover, resulting in defective products being discharged.

Conventionally, methods for removing the thread ends include manually cutting off the thread ends using scissors, burning them off with a flame, and cutting off the edges of the booklet to remove the thread ends.

In addition, when using a sewing machine, the method of cutting the edges of the rear booklet and removing the thread tails results in the loss of the reference surface, which has been pre-cut to exact dimensions and is aligned parallel, due to the edge cutting to remove the thread tails. For example, it becomes a hindrance when attaching a cover. In addition, if a mark indicating the direction of the booklet is attached to the corner of the booklet, there is a problem in that the mark is removed by the above-mentioned edge cutting, and furthermore, it becomes difficult to secure a sufficient margin for finishing edge cutting after attaching the cover. It has the following problems.

Means for Solving the Problems The present invention, as a means for achieving the above object, binds the preceding booklet and the succeeding booklet with continuous sewing thread, and then attaches a circle at the beginning and end of the thread of each booklet. This method uses notch cuts such as arcuate, triangular, etc. to remove thread ends.

In the present invention, the sewing thread that connects each booklet is cut and separated, and then a notch cut is made at the beginning and end of the thread, or the thread ends are made by making the above-mentioned notch cut while each booklet is connected with the sewing thread. This is different from the method of cutting off the edges of the booklet and removing the thread tails, so that the thread tails can be effectively removed while leaving the pre-cut reference surface.

In addition, since the 8i section of the booklet edge surface (reference surface) where the end of the thread is released is notched, the reference surface can be left as described above, and a sufficient margin for cutting off the finished edges after attaching the cover can be secured, and the corner portion of the booklet can be cut with a notch. Even if a symbol such as a direction indicator mark is attached, there is no risk of cutting it out.

The lower blade 8 is fitted into the lower blade holding groove 9a of the holder 9 and screwed up, and the lower blade holder 9 is held on a base plate 10 having a through hole 10a concentric with the upper blade 7. By loosely inserting the fixing screw 11 set on the base plate 10 into the long hole 9b drilled in the blade holder 9, the holder 9 and the lower blade tip 8 are removed.

is provided, and the adjustment screw 12 is abutted against the rear end of the holder, and the rotation of the adjustment screw 12 moves the holder 9 back and forth as described above, and the fixing screw 11 is tightened and fixed at a predetermined position. The lower blade 8 is made of Tsuruga metal such as copper alloy, and when the upper blade 7 is lowered and inserted into the through hole 10a, the cutting edge 8a of the lower blade 8 protrudes from the edge of the through hole 10a. The upper blade 7 cuts the surface, and the lower blade 8 sharpens. When the lower blade 8 is worn out, the cutting edge is regenerated by performing the sharpening described above. In addition, the lower blade 8 has a double-edged structure and can be reversed for repeated use, and the upper blade 7 has a double-edged structure that can be used repeatedly.
By rotating it, it can be used repeatedly.

Effects of the Invention According to the present invention, problems with the method of cutting edges and removing thread tails, such as removing the reference surface, difficulty in securing a sufficient margin for finishing edges, and removal of marks, etc. can be solved. This problem has been solved, the reference plane remains as set, and the finishing edge cutting allowance is secured, and there is no fear of cutting off marks. As long as it is within this range, the position and size can be relatively rough, and thread tails can be easily removed.
