Abstract

PURPOSE:To obviate the generation of rubbing flaw on the rear surface of the photosensitive material even if the injection rate of a processing liquid is increased by providing means of spraying the processing liquid to the photosensitive material from both surface directions thereof in the processing liquid. CONSTITUTION:This device is equipped with a processing tank 1, rollers 2a-2c for transportation, the processing liquid spraying member 3, guide members 4 for the photosensitive material, nozzles 3a, 4a, a transporting route 5 for the photosensitive material, and the processing liquid 6. Namely, the processing liquid spraying member 3 and the guide members 4 respectively have the nozzles 3a and 4a provided across the width for transportation of the photosensitive material so as to face the transportation route 5 for the photosensitive material. The processing liquid 6 is sprayed from the nozzles 3a to the front surface of the photosensitive material (the surface having the photosensitive layer) and is sprayed from the nozzles 4a to the rear surface of the photosensitive material, respectively. The contact of the rear surface of the photosensitive material with the guide members is, therefore, obviated even if the injection rates of the processing liquid to the rear surface of the photosensitive layer is increased in order to speed up the processing. The generation of the rubbing flaws on the rear surface of the photosensitive material is prevented in this way and the processing is speeded up.

In recent years, there has been a strong demand in the industry to shorten the time required for processing, and various means are known to increase the flow rate of the processing solution on the surface of the photosensitive material. As a specific method, a method of jetting a processing liquid onto the surface of a photosensitive material from a slit, a nozzle, etc. is disclosed in U.S. Pat. Disclosed in the No.

However, in such a method, if the jetting speed of the processing liquid is increased in order to speed up the processing, the back surface of the photosensitive material comes into contact with the conveyance guide, which tends to cause scratches. This problem can be solved by increasing the distance between the conveyance guide and the back side of the photosensitive material, but this would require an increase in the size of the device.
The disadvantage is that the crossing time (crossover time) is also long.

Therefore, an object of the present invention is to speed up the processing so that scratches do not occur on the back side of the photosensitive material even if the speed of jetting the processing liquid onto the surface of the photosensitive material is increased, and in addition, it is possible to increase the size of the device and reduce the transfer time. An object of the present invention is to provide a processing apparatus for photosensitive materials that does not cause an increase in the amount of water.

The processing liquid spraying member 3 and the guide member 4 have nozzles 3a and 4a, respectively, which face the photosensitive material conveyance path 5 and are provided across the conveyance width of the photosensitive material. The processing liquid is sprayed from the nozzle 4a onto the back surface of the photosensitive material (on the side where the photosensitive layer is located). The spray angle from these nozzles to the surface of the photosensitive material is determined by (a) the conveyance direction of the photosensitive material (
It is preferable to spray the photosensitive material diagonally in the opposite direction (indicated by the dotted chain arrow), that is, so that the angle between the spraying direction and the transport path 5 is an acute angle. It may also be sprayed perpendicularly to the transport path, or (

In this example, the guide member and the treatment liquid spraying member are separated. As shown in FIGS. 6(b) and 6(c), the processing liquid spraying member 11 has its processing liquid discharge port arranged between the gap between the slits lla and the holes ITo so that the amount of processing liquid discharged is equal in the width direction. In the present invention, it is preferable to have an adjusting means for balancing the spraying pressure of the processing liquid from both sides of the photosensitive material in order to prevent the photosensitive material from coming into contact with the guide member and to ensure smooth conveyance. As the adjustment means, a metering pump is used as a pump for pumping the processing liquid to the respective spraying members on both the front and back sides of the photosensitive material, and the metering pump is divided into two systems, one for the front side and the other for the back side of the photosensitive material. It is possible to use a method of balancing the spray pressure by controlling the discharge flow rate of a metering pump, a method of providing a valve for each nozzle and adjusting it by the valve opening, and a combination of these methods.

According to the present invention, in the process of processing a photosensitive material, the processing liquid is ejected onto the photosensitive layer surface of the photosensitive material and also onto the back side of the photosensitive material, so that the processing liquid is ejected onto the photosensitive layer surface in order to speed up the processing. Even when the jetting speed of the processing liquid is increased, the back surface of the photosensitive material does not come into contact with the guide member, and therefore, processing can be speeded up without causing scratches on the back surface of the photosensitive material. Furthermore, scratches on the back surface can be solved by increasing the distance between the back surface of the photosensitive material and the conveyance guide, but such a measure increases the size of the processing apparatus and increases the transit time. According to the present invention, the problem of scratches on the back surface of a photosensitive material can be solved without such drawbacks.
