Abstract

PURPOSE:To secure the strength of a header and facilitate the fixing of tubes by a method wherein the cylindrical wall of the header is constituted of a header pipe, on which an opening for inserting a working jig is formed with a given width, and a header cover, inserted into the pipe. CONSTITUTION:An opening 12, notched with a given width, is formed on the circular cylindrical body of a header pipe 11. A header cover 13, inserted into the pipe 11 and closing the opening 12, is formed on the inner periphery of the pipe 11. The cover 13 is provided with an arced configuration and the outer peripheral surfaces of both end rims 131, 132 of the same are connected to the inner peripheral surface of the opening rims of the pipe 11. The opening 12 is for inserting a jig for forming the attaching hole 4 of a tube 2 by applying burring work on the remaining side wall of the pipe 11. According to this method, stress concentration will never be generated on the connecting part of a cylindrical plate whereby the strength of a heat exchanger may be secured. On the other hand, the inserting opening of the jig is provided and, therefore, burring work may be facilitated and the fixing as well as the positioning of the tube 2 can also be facilitated.

ー13を挿通し、セパレータ5を取付けた後、一体ろう
付けして製品とする。
