Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a character frame boundary value from being used in an abnormal state by deciding whether or not abnormality is generated in the character frame boundary value stored in a character frame boundary value storage part from character frame width calculated based on the content of the character frame boundary value storage part, and issuing an alarm. CONSTITUTION:X character frame width set as decision criterion is calculated at an X character frame width calculation part 110 based on the content of an X character frame boundary value storage part 100. Also, Y character frame width set as the decision criterion is calculated at a Y character frame width calculation part 210 based on the content of a Y character frame boundary value storage part 200. At an X character frame boundary value decision part 130 and a Y character frame boundary value decision part 230, it is decided whether or not the abnormality is generated in the X character and the Y character frame boundary values stored in the storage parts 100 and 200 based on the output of the calculation parts 110 and 210, respectively. An alarm part 300 informs the abnormality when it is decided that the abnormality exists in a decision result. It is possible to perform the re-setting of the character frame boundary value according to the information of the alarm, and to prevent the character frame boundary value from being used in the abnormal state.

In the character frame position storage circuit of the present invention, a character frame width is calculated as a determination criterion based on the contents of a character frame boundary value storage section, and the character frame width is stored in the character frame boundary value storage section based on this character frame width. This prevents the character frame boundary value from being used in an abnormal state by determining whether the character frame boundary has changed and issuing a warning if it has changed.

Conventionally, character recognition devices find the position of the currently written character frame and use that position to cut out each character. This determination of the position of the character frame is performed based on a character frame position storage circuit including a character frame boundary value storage section that stores in advance the boundary values of each character frame arranged on the writing surface.

Based on the contents of the character frame boundary value storage unit, a character frame width calculation unit calculates a character frame width to be used as a determination criterion. The character frame boundary value determination section determines whether there is any abnormality in the character frame boundary value stored in the character frame boundary value storage section based on the output of the character frame width calculation section. The alarm unit notifies the user of the abnormality when the determination result of the character frame boundary value determination unit indicates that there is an abnormality. The character frame boundary value can be reset according to this abnormality notification. The above operations can prevent character frame boundary values from being used in an abnormal state.

First, in a character recognition device, character frames are generally arranged in the X direction or at equal intervals in the X direction, and in the character frame position storage circuit, all stored character frame boundary values are It is rare for the difference to break down to a constant value. In the present invention, this property is used to check for abnormalities in the character frame boundary value storage section and issue a warning. This method will be explained in detail below with reference to FIG. 1.
