Off-road vehicles used for driving on rough terrain, etc.
It is also required from the viewpoint of safety that the driver obtains stable maneuverability. A suspension installed in a vehicle in order to obtain such stable maneuverability is particularly important in this type of vehicle. By the way, in conventional tricycles developed for this type of purpose, a drive axle with a rear wheel attached thereto is supported by a swing arm, and a rear suspension is disposed between the swing arm and the frame. However, with such tricycles, when either of the left or right wheels receives an impact from an uneven road surface while driving, the vehicle body may tilt or the like.
The impact applied to the wheels was directly applied to the car body, resulting in poor driving stability. On the other hand, this is not a desirable structure for four-wheeled vehicles as well, as it has poor followability to the road surface.

The present invention was made in view of the above circumstances, and
It is an object of the present invention to provide a wheel suspension system for a straddle-type four-wheeled vehicle that can absorb shock from the road surface and improve the stability of the vehicle body during driving.

A feature of the present invention is that each rear wheel is provided with a separate drive shaft, each of these drive shafts is supported by an individual swing arm and suspension, and the output of the engine is transmitted to each sprocket provided on the drive shaft. In the wheel suspension system for a straddle-type four-wheeled vehicle, one end of the swing arm is rotatably supported on the main frame, and the other end is bifurcated to sandwich the sprocket and drive the drive shaft. This is supported by two points.

In Figures 1 to 3, 1 is the front wheel 2.
It is a straddle-type four-wheeled vehicle with two rear wheels and three rear wheels.
The rear wheels 3 are supported by separate drive shafts 4 1 and 4 2 . These drive shafts 4 1 , 4 2 are supported by separate swing arms 5 1 , 5 2 and suspensions 6 1 , 6 2 , respectively, and the output from the engine 7 is transmitted to each drive shaft via a transmission means 8 . This will be communicated separately. The swing arms 5 1 and 5 2 have one end supported by a main frame 10 located on the rear side of the engine 7 via a swing arm pivot 9, and the other end of the swing arm 5 1 , 5 2 is bifurcated, as shown in FIG. Drive shafts 4 1 and 4 2 are supported via bearings 11 in this manner.

Next, to explain the operation of the present invention, the engine 7
The output is transmitted to the output shaft 13, and the left and right sprockets 14 1 and 14 2 rotate simultaneously. The rotational power of these sprockets 14 1 and 14 2 is transmitted to the sprockets 15 1 and 15 1 through chains 16 1 and 16 2 .
15 2 will be transmitted separately. Next, as the sprockets 15 1 and 15 2 rotate, the drive shafts 4 1 and 4 2
rotate, and the rear wheels 3 supported by the drive shafts 4 1 and 4 2 rotate at the same time. And when running,
When an impact is applied to one rear wheel 3 due to unevenness of the road surface, only the rear wheel 3 to which the impact is applied vibrates, and the vibration is absorbed by the suspension 6 1 or 6 2 . In this way, the impact applied to one rear wheel 3 is not transmitted to the other rear wheel 3, so that the vehicle body can maintain a stable posture.

Also, when the brakes are applied while driving, the caliper 19 comes into pressure contact with the disc plate 18,
Stop rotation of drive shaft 41 . The braking force applied to the rotating shaft 4 1 is transmitted from the sprocket 15 1 via the chain 16 1 to the sprocket 14 1 and the output shaft 13, and from the sprocket 14 2 to the drive shaft via the chain 16 2 and the sprocket 15 2 . 4 2
is transmitted, and both rear wheels 3 stop.

In the above embodiment, a four-wheeled vehicle has been described, but the same effect can be achieved with a three-wheeled vehicle. Moreover, what drives the rear wheels 3 is not limited to a chain drive, but may also be a shaft drive, and brakes may also be provided on the drive shafts 4 1 and 4 2 on both sides.

As described above, according to the wheel suspension system for a straddle-type four-wheeled vehicle according to the present invention, the other end of the swing arm is bifurcated and the sprocket is sandwiched between the drive shafts and the drive shaft is supported at two points. It is possible to reliably support the suspension and absorb shocks caused when driving on rough terrain.
