Description
本発明が解決しようとする他の課題は、同じ個数のLEDを使用しながらより細かい制御が可能な表示装置を提供することである。
Claims (18)
- 複数のブロックに分割されて前記分割されたブロックごとに駆動され、前記それぞれのブロックは複数の光源パッケージを含む、バックライトユニット、
前記バックライトユニットの上部に配置される表示パネル、
前記表示パネルに表示される映像に応じて、前記複数のブロックの中で一部のブロックそれぞれの明るさに対応するローカルディミングデータを出力する制御部、及び
前記ローカルディミングデータを利用して、前記複数のブロックの中で前記一部のブロックに隣接する残りのブロックそれぞれの明るさに対応する追加ローカルディミングデータを生成するバックライトユニット(backlight unit;BLU)駆動部
を含み、
前記BLU駆動部は、複数の駆動ユニットを含み、
前記駆動ユニットは、前記制御部から前記ローカルディミングデータの入力を受ける輝度制御部、及び前記ローカルディミングデータと前記追加ローカルディミングデータを出力する複数のドライバICを含み、
1ブロック当たりの前記光源パッケージの数が減少して前記ブロックの総数が増加することで、前記BLU駆動部に必要な前記ローカルディミングデータの個数が不足する場合に、前記輝度制御部が、前記制御部により出力された前記ローカルディミングデータを用いて、前記一部のブロックに隣接する残りのブロックそれぞれの明るさに対応する前記追加ローカルディミングデータを生成することにより、補完されたバックライト駆動データを生成するよう構成されている、表示装置。 - 前記輝度制御部は、直列(serial)に入力される前記ローカルディミングデータ、及び前記追加ローカルディミングデータを並列(parallel)に出力して、前記複数のドライバICそれぞれに伝達する、請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記輝度制御部は、FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array)で構成される、請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記それぞれのブロックは、4個(=2×2)の前記光源パッケージを含む、請求項2に記載の表示装置。
- 前記輝度制御部は、
ローカルディミングデータ格納部、
ローカルディミングデータ生成部、
ローカルディミングデータ整列部、及び
ローカルディミングデータマッピング部を含む、請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 前記ローカルディミングデータ格納部は、前記制御部から順次に入力された前記ローカルディミングデータを格納する、請求項5に記載の表示装置。
- 前記ローカルディミングデータ生成部は、前記ローカルディミングデータを利用して前記追加ローカルディミングデータを生成する、請求項5に記載の表示装置。
- 前記ローカルディミングデータ整列部は、前記ローカルディミングデータ及び前記追加ローカルディミングデータを整列する、請求項5に記載の表示装置。
- 前記ローカルディミングデータ格納部は、前記ローカルディミングデータ整列部を通して整列された前記ローカルディミングデータ及び前記追加ローカルディミングデータを格納する、請求項8に記載の表示装置。
- 前記ローカルディミングデータマッピング部は、前記ローカルディミングデータ格納部に格納された前記ローカルディミングデータと前記追加ローカルディミングデータをマッピング及びSPI(Serial Peripheral Interface)変換して前記それぞれのブロックのLEDドライバICに伝達する、請求項9に記載の表示装置。
- 前記複数のブロックは、N×M(N、Mは、1以上の自然数)のマトリックス形態に配置され、
前記ローカルディミングデータは、奇数番目の行の前記ブロックそれぞれの明るさに対応する前記奇数番目の行のローカルディミングデータを意味し、
前記追加ローカルディミングデータは、前記奇数番目の行に隣接する偶数番目の行の前記ブロックそれぞれの明るさに対応する前記偶数番目の行のローカルディミングデータを意味する、請求項5に記載の表示装置。 - 前記ローカルディミングデータ生成部は、隣接する奇数番目の行のローカルディミングデータを利用して前記偶数番目の行のローカルディミングデータを生成する、請求項11に記載の表示装置。
- 前記ローカルディミングデータ生成部は、前記隣接する奇数番目の行のローカルディミングデータの平均値で前記偶数番目の行のローカルディミングデータを生成する、請求項12に記載の表示装置。
- 前記ローカルディミングデータ生成部は、前記隣接する奇数番目の行のローカルディミングデータの最小値で前記偶数番目の行のローカルディミングデータを生成する、請求項12に記載の表示装置。
- 前記ローカルディミングデータ生成部は、前記隣接する奇数番目の行のローカルディミングデータの最大値で前記偶数番目の行のローカルディミングデータを生成する、請求項12に記載の表示装置。
- 前記ローカルディミングデータ整列部は、前記奇数番目の行のローカルディミングデータ及び前記偶数番目の行のローカルディミングデータを整列する、請求項12に記載の表示装置。
- 前記ローカルディミングデータ格納部は、前記ローカルディミングデータ整列部を通して整列された前記奇数番目の行のローカルディミングデータ及び前記偶数番目の行のローカルディミングデータを格納する、請求項16に記載の表示装置。
- 前記ローカルディミングデータマッピング部は、前記ローカルディミングデータ格納部に格納された前記奇数番目の行のローカルディミングデータと前記偶数番目の行のローカルディミングデータをマッピング及びSPI変換して前記それぞれのブロックのLEDドライバICに伝達する、請求項17に記載の表示装置。
