Claims (19)
- 복수의 블록들로 분할되어 상기 분할된 블록별로 구동되며, 적어도 하나의 광학 어셈블리를 포함하는 백라이트 유닛;상기 백라이트 유닛의 상측에 위치하는 표시 패널;상기 표시 패널에서 디스플레이되는 영상에 따라 상기 백라이트 유닛의 블록들 각각의 밝기에 대응되는 블록별 로컬 디밍값을 출력하는 제어부; 및상기 블록별 로컬 디밍값을 이용하여 상기 백라이트 유닛의 블록들의 밝기를 제어하는 BLU 구동부를 포함하고,상기 광학 어셈블리는제1 층;상기 제1 층 상에 형성되어 광을 방출하며, 발광면이 상기 제1 층과 교차하는 방향으로 형성된 복수의 광원들;상기 제1 층의 상측에 배치되며, 상기 복수의 광원들을 감싸도록 형성되는 제2 층; 및상기 제1, 2 층 사이에 배치되는 반사층을 포함하며,상기 BLU 구동부는 상기 블록별 로컬 디밍값을 입력받아 복수의 구동 신호들을 출력하며, 상기 복수의 구동 신호들은 각각 상기 백라이트 유닛의 블록들 중 2 이상의 블록들의 밝기를 제어하는 디스플레이 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 표시 패널은 복수의 영역들로 분할되며,상기 제어부는 상기 표시 패널의 영역들 각각의 휘도에 따라 상기 영역에 대응되는 상기 백라이트 유닛의 블록의 밝기가 조절되도록 하는 디스플레이 장치.
- 제2항에 있어서, 상기 제어부는영상의 평균 휘도 레벨을 측정하는 영상 분석부; 및상기 측정된 영상의 평균 휘도 레벨을 이용하여 상기 백라이트 유닛의 블록별로 상기 로컬 디밍값을 결정하는 밝기 결정부를 포함하는 디스플레이 장치.
- 제3항에 있어서, 상기 밝기 결정부는상기 영상의 평균 휘도 레벨과 상기 표시 패널의 제1 영역에 대한 평균 휘도 레벨을 이용하여, 상기 제1 영역에 대응되는 상기 백라이트 유닛의 블록에 포함된광원들의 밝기를 결정하는 디스플레이 장치.
- 제3항에 있어서,상기 측정된 영상의 평균 휘도 레벨을 이용하여, 입력되는 영상 신호에 대한 게인(gain)을 조정하는 픽셀 보상부; 및상기 픽셀 보상부로부터 출력되는 영상 신호에 따라 상기 표시 패널을 구동시키는 패널 구동부를 더 포함하는 디스플레이 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 BLU 구동부는SPI(Serial Peripheral Interface) 통신을 이용하여 상기 제어부로부터 상기 블록별 로컬 디밍값을 입력받는 디스플레이 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제1 층은상기 광원이 실장되는 기판인 디스플레이 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제2 층은실리콘계 또는 아크릴계 수지로 구성되는 디스플레이 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제2 층은복수의 산란 입자들을 포함하는 디스플레이 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 광원들의 위치에 대응되도록 상기 제2 층 상에 형성되는 차광 패턴을 더 포함하는 디스플레이 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 백라이트 유닛은상기 광학 어셈블리를 복수 개 구비하는 디스플레이 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 제2 층의 두께는 0.1 내지 4.5mm인 디스플레이 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 광학 어셈블리에 포함된 복수의 광원들은 2 이상의 블록들로 분할되어 구동되는 디스플레이 장치.
- 복수의 블록들로 분할되어 상기 분할된 블록별로 구동되며, 적어도 하나의 광학 어셈블리를 포함하는 백라이트 유닛;상기 백라이트 유닛의 상측에 위치하는 표시 패널;상기 표시 패널에서 디스플레이되는 영상에 따라 상기 백라이트 유닛의 블록들 각각의 밝기에 대응되는 블록별 로컬 디밍값을 출력하는 제어부; 및상기 블록별 로컬 디밍값을 이용하여 상기 백라이트 유닛의 블록들의 밝기를 제어하는 BLU 구동부를 포함하고,상기 광학 어셈블리는제1 층;상기 제1 층 상에 형성되어 광을 방출하며, 발광면이 상기 제1 층과 교차하는 방향으로 형성된 복수의 광원들;상기 제1 층의 상측에 배치되며, 상기 복수의 광원들을 감싸도록 형성되는 제2 층; 및상기 제1, 2 층 사이에 배치되는 반사층을 포함하며,상기 BLU 구동부는 구동 유닛을 포함하여 구성되며,상기 구동 유닛은 상기 제어부로부터 블록별 로컬 디밍값을 입력받는 제어 유닛 및 2 이상의 상기 블록들의 밝기를 제어하기 위한 구동 신호를 각각 출력하는 복수의 드라이버 IC들을 포함하는 디스플레이 장치.
- 제14항에 있어서, 상기 제어 유닛은직렬(serial)로 입력되는 상기 블록별 로컬 디밍값을 병렬(parallel)로 출력하여, 상기 복수의 드라이버 IC들 각각으로 전달하는 디스플레이 장치.
- 제14항에 있어서, 상기 드라이버 IC는n개 채널을 이용하여, n개의 블록들에 포함된 광원들로 구동 신호를 공급하는 디스플레이 장치.
- 제14항에 있어서, 상기 BLU 구동부는상기 구동 유닛을 복수 개 구비하는 디스플레이 장치.
- 제14항에 있어서,상기 광학 어셈블리에 포함된 복수의 광원들은 2 이상의 블록들로 분할되어 구동되는 디스플레이 장치.
- 제14항에 있어서, 상기 백라이트 유닛은상기 광학 어셈블리를 복수 개 구비하는 디스플레이 장치.
