Description
This disclosure relates to a laminate and a package constructed from the laminate.
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, resin films made of resin materials have been used as a constituent material of packaging bodies.
For example, laminates composed of different resin films, including a polyethylene terephthalate film as a substrate and a polyethylene film as a sealant layer, have been used to make packages.
In addition, various functions such as gas barrier properties (oxygen barrier properties and water vapor barrier properties) are required for the package depending on the contents to be filled. In such cases, a polyamide film or the like is further provided as an intermediate layer of the above-mentioned laminate.
In recent years, with the growing demand for a recycling-oriented society, attempts have been made to recycle and reuse packaging. However, packaging made of laminated films made by bonding together multiple different resin films is difficult to separate into its individual layers, and packaging collected after use is not suitable for recycling, so there has been a demand for using packaging that places less strain on the environment.
A laminate that includes a stretched polypropylene film, an adhesive layer made of a two-component curing urethane adhesive, an aluminum vapor deposition film, and an unstretched polypropylene film is widely known as a laminate used to make packaging for filling snack foods and the like. This type of laminate can be recycled as is without the need to separate the layers.
A new problem was discovered in that the packaging made of the above laminate did not have sufficient barrier properties against ultraviolet light, and depending on the contents, this could cause deterioration in quality, taste, and aroma.

(Barrier Adhesive Layer)
The barrier adhesive layer is a layer constituted by an adhesive having gas barrier properties that suppress the transmission of oxygen and water vapor.
The barrier adhesive layer is a layer provided to suppress the passage of oxygen and water vapor through the laminate, which cannot be completely suppressed by the vapor-deposited film. More specifically, since the surface of the vapor-deposited film has a fine uneven shape, the thickness of the vapor-deposited film is not completely uniform, and the barrier properties of the relatively thin parts are reduced. By providing the barrier adhesive layer adjacent to the vapor-deposited film, the uneven shape of the vapor-deposited film is flattened, and the barrier properties can be made uniform.
The barrier adhesive layer is composed of a cured resin composition that contains a resin (polyol resin) that has two or more hydroxyl groups per molecule and an isocyanate compound (polyisocyanate) that has two or more isocyanate groups per molecule.

The gas barrier layer can be formed by applying a composition containing an upper material onto a substrate by a conventionally known means such as roll coating using a gravure roll coater or the like, spray coating, spin coating, dipping, brushing, bar coating, applicator, or the like, and then polycondensing the composition by a sol-gel method.
The sol-gel catalyst is preferably an acid or an amine compound. As the amine compound, a tertiary amine that is substantially insoluble in water and soluble in an organic solvent is preferable, and examples thereof include N,N-dimethylbenzylamine, tripropylamine, tributylamine, and tripentylamine.
An embodiment of a method for forming a gas barrier layer will be described below.
First, a composition is prepared by mixing a metal alkoxide, a water-soluble polymer, a sol-gel catalyst, water, an organic solvent, and, if necessary, a silane coupling agent, etc. In the composition, a polycondensation reaction gradually proceeds.
Next, the composition is applied onto a substrate by the above-mentioned conventionally known method, and then dried.
This drying causes the polycondensation reaction of the alkoxide and the water-soluble polymer (as well as the silane coupling agent, if the composition contains a silane coupling agent) to proceed further, forming a composite polymer layer.
Finally, the composition is heated at a temperature of 20 to 250° C., preferably 50 to 220° C., for 1 second to 10 minutes to form a gas barrier layer.

Example 2-1
As a substrate, a biaxially oriented polypropylene (PP) film having a thickness of 25 μm (manufactured by Futamura Chemical Co., Ltd., product name: FOR) having one surface corona-treated was prepared.
A print layer was formed on the corona-treated surface of the substrate by gravure printing using Lamic FB701 White (containing titanium oxide particles (25 to 35% by mass) having a primary particle size of 200 to 400 nm) manufactured by Dainichi Seikagaku Kabushiki Kaisha.
The printing layer was formed over the entire surface of the substrate, and had a thickness of 1 μm.
On the printed layer forming surface of the substrate, UV-cut ink A (Dainichiseika Color & Chemicals Mfg. Co., Ltd., Lamic F220 UV Resistancer, containing titanium oxide particles with a primary particle size of 15 nm (5-10% by mass)) was applied by gravure printing and dried to form a UV barrier layer with a thickness of 1 μm.
An unstretched PP film (manufactured by Toray Processing Films Co., Ltd., product name: 2703, thickness: 25 μm) with a 40 nm thick aluminum vapor deposition film on one side was prepared.
The ultraviolet barrier layer and the vapor deposition surface of the unstretched PP film were laminated via a two-component curing adhesive (manufactured by DIC Corporation, product name: PASLIM NS-680A/HA-680B). The thickness of the barrier adhesive layer formed by the two-component curing adhesive was 2 μm. After lamination, the laminate was aged at 40°C for two days to obtain a laminate. The proportion of PP in the laminate thus obtained was 92% by mass.
