本開示の材料のポリマー及び炭素同素体材料は、市販製品であっても合成品であってもよい。市販されているポリマーには、PANI、PEDOT:PSS、ポリウレタン、及びエポキシがあり、例えば、ヘレウス(Heraeus)又はシグマアルドリッチ(SigmaAldric
h)から入手可能である。本開示のポリマーは、複数のモノマーを混合して混合物とし、

ン(NMP)(バーディック・アンド・ジャクソン社:Burdick & Jackson Co.)を、移
動相とポリマー溶媒として使用してもよい。流速の設定値として0.5mL/minを使用できる。
試薬(東ソー株式会社)で行うことができる。ポリスチレン校正試薬の固有粘度は、前記SEC/粘度検出器で測定してよい。これらの値は、ユニバーサルキャリブレーション(universal calibration)によるサイズ排除クロマトグラフ校正用の、NMP/0.02
M-NH4HCO2中のポリスチレンに対する45℃でのマーク・ホーウィンク式(Mark-Houwink expression)を与える。
吸収の測定は、大気下で汎用の測定付属品(UMA:Universal Measurement Attachment)を用いCary5000スペクトロメータで行うことができる。溶液試料は、1cmの石英キュベット中でトルエンの希薄溶液として測定できる。サンプリング周波数は、測定する波長幅によるが1nmと2nmの間であってよい。試料測定の前に溶媒のバックグラウンドを測定し、後でそれを除く必要がある。乾燥フィルムの測定は、ガラススライド上に1000rpmのスピン回転速度で30秒間、キシレン又はトルエンの溶液からスピンコートし、このようにして得られた試料として測定できる。ガラス基材上でバックグラウンド透過を測定する必要がある。不均一な試料表面からの光散乱効果を最小に抑えるために、試料をガラス基材側とともに光の導入口に向けて配列する必要がある。
抵抗値の測定は、電極と測定装置、例えばケースレー4200SCS(Keithley 4200SCS)とを適切に組み合わせて実施できる。抵抗値の測定はファンデルパウの方法(van der Pauw method)を用いて行うことが好ましい。この四点法は、試料表面を横断する電流
と電圧の平行的なソース・センス測定を用いて行う。二極性をテストするため各接点に加わる電流と電圧の極性を切り替える。試料の直接比較を可能とするために、試料の形状を一定とする必要がある。表1と図1に示すように、電荷方向性の差を考慮して、可能な配列のそれぞれで電流と電圧の測定を回転切替させる。図1は、抵抗値測定に可能な電極配

EISでは、異なる周波数での試料のインピーダンスの変化を調べるために可変周波数交流源を使用する。抵抗体と同様に、インピーダンスは、印加される交流と測定される電圧変化の間の遅れである。電気回路の部品は周波数に依存して応答するが、これを測定対象塗膜に特異な特性を見つけるのに使用できる。真のオーム抵抗体は、直流(DC)源と交流(AC)源に同様に応答し、このため周波数依存性の抵抗応答を示さない。キャパシター(また、より複雑な電気部品)は、周波数依存性の応答をもつ。低周波数ではインピーダンスが非常に高く、高周波数では電気インピーダンスが低い。EISデータの解析においては、予測モデル(等価回路モデルとして知られる)は、厳密に試料システムを近似するため、真正電気部品と疑似電気部品とから構成される。次いで、このモデルで計算されるインピーダンススペクトルが、測定されたスペクトルと比較される。

となる。少なくとも一態様において、2つの異なる等価回路モデルを比較するにあたり、この数値の1/3より小さな差は、区別不能とみなされる。
本開示の材料は、第1ポリマーを炭素同素体材料に塗布して形成することができる。また、材料は、第1ポリマーと第2ポリマーを混合して第1材料を形成し、第1材料を炭素同素体材料に塗布して形成することもできる。また、材料は、第1ポリマーを炭素同素体材料に塗布して第1材料を作り、第1材料の上に第2ポリマーを塗布して第2材料を作って形成することもできる。また、スルホン酸を、第1ポリマー、第2ポリマー、及び/又は炭素同素体材料と混合してもよい。本開示の材料には、硬化処理、及び/又は、イソプロピルアルコール及び/又はパラトルエンスルホン酸などの洗浄剤で洗浄処理した材料であってもよい。
材料の厚みは、白色光干渉分光法により、カットステップ高さから求められる。材料表面の微細構造は、いずれか適当な3Dレーザー走査型共焦点顕微鏡により、例えばキーエンスVK-X(Keyence VK-X)により観察できる。
カーボンナノチューブシート(製品ID:GN-N8-LD10)をジェネラルナノ社(General Nano Corp.)から入手した。ポリアニリンジノニルナフタレンスルホン酸(PANI-DNNSA)は、上述のようにして合成した。銀インク(AG530)はコンダクティブコンパウンズ社(Conductive Compounds Corp.)から入手し、電気接続に使用した。8663HSポリウレタン保護テープは、3M社(3M Company)より入手した。
2.5cm×2.5cmの角型カーボンナノチューブシートに、マイクロピペットを用いて0.5mLのPANI-DNNSA溶液を塗布して、入念にその面を覆った。このポリマー溶液は均一な塗膜を与えた。電気接続のためこのシートの両端に銀インクをブラシで塗布した。この塗布シートを対流炉中大気下で60℃で乾燥させた。このシートの抵抗値は、ケースレー4200-SCSシステムを用いて作成した電流/電圧曲線から計算した。
21cm×7.5cmのカーボンナノチューブシートを、1mm厚のガラス繊維パネルの上に置いた。このCNTシート上にPANI-DNNSA溶液を滴下塗布し、このシートの両端に銀インクを塗布した。このパネルを90℃で空気乾燥させた。次いで、この塗布パネルに保護層としてポリウレタンテープを貼り付けた。自動オン/オフタイマー(422ARR100S0X、オートマチック・タイミング・アンド・コントロールズ社(Automatic Timing and Controls Co.))を用いて、所定間隔でこのパネルに電力を印加し
た。タイマーにより、60Hzのバリアック電源を、30秒間オン、60秒間オフのサイクルで印加した。印加電圧と測定電流は、HP34401Aマルチメータで同時に測定した。ファンを取り付けて空気を直接このパネルに吹き付けて、過熱を防止した。
-カーボンナノチューブシートを含む材料は、2.7W/in2の発熱を示し、30秒間
で約51℃~約62℃の温度を達成することが示された。また、PANI-DNNSA-カーボンナノチューブシート材料を水で洗っても、この材料からDNNSAが脱ドープすることはない。実際、湿潤条件への感受性は、輸送体用途向け静電除去材料としての既知材料の実用性を阻害していた。
PANI-カーボンナノチューブ-HClは、前記カーボンナノチューブシートの存在下で過硫酸アンモニウムを酸化剤として用いて酸性溶液浴(1M-HCl)中でアニリンを反応容器中重合(in situ polymerization)して製造した。シート対アニリンの重量比は1:5であり、アニリンモノマー対酸化剤のモル比は1:1であった。CNT単体のDC導電率は、342±37S/cmであったが、PANI-カーボンナノチューブシート-HClの導電率は621±10S/cmであった。この材料を水で洗浄すると材料の電気特性が大きく変わり、このような材料の実用性をさらに低下させた。また、HClは、いくつかの硬化温度で、また、航空機部品の表面が晒される典型的な温度で揮発性であるので、材料の電気特性を大きく変動させ、このような材料の実用性をさらに低下させる。
本開示の材料は、炭素同素体材料の上及び/又は中に設けられたいずれか適当な導電性ポリマーを含む。実施例2の材料を表2に示す。成分Aは、2個以上のヒドロキシル基をもつポリオールである。成分Bは、2個以上のイソシアネート基をもつイソシアネートである。成分Cは、キシレン及び/又はトルエンで固体含量が約8%にまで稀釈されたPANI/DNNSAである。
PANI:DNNSA濃縮物をキシレン又はトルエン中で百分率固体含量を約8%にまで稀釈して、成分Cを得た。成分Cを成分Aとよく混合して実質的に凝集物又は粒子を含まない均一な溶液として成分A/成分Cの混合物を得た。次いで、成分Bをこの成分A/成分Cの混合物に添加してよく混合した。実施例2のPANI:DNNSA濃縮物はキシレン又はトルエン中で百分率固体含量を約8%にまで稀釈したが、少なくとも一態様において、ポリマーは溶媒中に百分率固体含量として約0.1重量%~約30重量%、例えば約1重量%~約15重量%で存在する。イソシアネートには、アリールイソシアネートと脂肪族のイソシアネート、脂環式イソシアネートが含まれる。少なくとも一態様において、イソシアネートは、トルエンジイソシアネート(TDI)、メチレンジフェニルジイソシアネート(MDI)、1,6-ヘキサメチレンジイソシアネート(HDI)、及びこれらの混合物を含む。ポリオールには、アリールポリオールと脂肪族ポリオール、脂環式ポリオールが含まれる。少なくとも一態様では、ポリオールはC1-C15のポリオールを含む。少なくとも一態様において、成分Aと成分Bが合成されるか、アプテク社(Aptek
)(例えばアプテク2100:Aptek 2100)、ハンツマン・コーポレーション(Huntsman
Corporation)(例えば、ハンツマン5750:Huntsman 5750)、BASF、バイエル
社(Bayer AG)などから商業的に入手される。
リア部分、例えば赤外領域にまで移動するS字状の部分は、自由キャリアテール(free carrier tail)と呼ばれ、ポリマーの導電率に関わっている。小さな自由キャリアテール
(又は自由キャリアテールの不存在)は、ポリマーが(あるとしても)低い導電率を持つことを示す。図4に示すように、PANI:DNNSA:PTSAを含む材料の自由キャリアテール(ライン402)はPTSA不存在下でのPANI:DNNSAを含む材料の自由キャリアテール(ライン404)より小さい。
PEDOT:PSSは、水やDMSOなどの極性溶媒に可溶なポリマー系である。この溶解性のため、エポキシ及び/又はポリウレタンなどの第2ポリマーとともに水溶性分散液を形成する。
始まり、厚みが増えると低下し、約6μmの厚みの暗青色の材料になると約20Ω/□に減少する。
本開示の材料は、例えば表面に塗布した後で硬化の前又は後に、1つ以上の洗浄剤で洗ってもよい。洗浄剤には、イソプロピルアルコール(IPA)、パラトルエンスルホン酸、アセトン、メタノール、これらの塩類、及びこれらの混合物が含まれる。少なくとも一態様において、材料で基材を被覆し、1つ以上の洗浄剤を含む溶液中に浸漬される。少なくとも一態様において、洗浄は、基材に塗布された材料の表面への洗浄剤の吹き付けを含む。少なくとも一態様において、洗浄剤は材料の表面に約1秒~約10分、例えば約30秒~約2分の間、噴霧される。少なくとも一態様において、洗浄剤は材料の表面上に、約1mL~約25kLの量、例えば約100L~約1kLの量で噴霧される。少なくとも一態様において、ある用途にはより大きな抵抗値をもつ材料が適当であることがあり、したがって洗浄剤による洗浄を省いてもよい。例えば、特定の用途には、無洗浄のPANI:DNNSA:カーボンナノチューブ塗膜の抵抗値が適切であり、このPANI:DNNSA:カーボンナノチューブ塗膜を無洗浄のまま硬化させることができる。
図6Aは、PANI:DNNSA(ポリウレタン中40%)の抵抗値/材料厚みを示し、図6Bは、PANI:DNNSA(ポリウレタン中40重量%)をIPAで洗浄した場合の抵抗値/材料厚みを示す。図6Aに示すように、IPAで洗浄されていないPANI:DNNSA(ポリウレタン中40%)を含む材料(ライン602と604と606)の抵抗値は、厚みが約3μm~約5μmでMΩ/□である。しかし図6Bに示すように、IPA洗浄の後のこれらの材料の抵抗値(ライン608と610と612)は、IPA洗浄により、厚みが約2μm~約5μmでkΩ/□に大幅に低下する。図6Aと6Bに示すように、材料厚みが増加すると、材料の抵抗値(ライン602、604、606、608、610及び612)もまた低下する。これらの材料を、カーボンナノチューブ、グラフェン、フラーレン、ポリカーボネート、及びこれらの組み合わせなどの炭素同素体材料の上に及び/又は中に配置すると、改善された電気的及び機械的特性を持つ第2材料が形成される。
図7に、未処理のPANI:DNNSA材料(neat PANI:DNNSA material)の、インピーダンス/周波数特性としてプロットしたインピーダンススペクトルのボード線図(Bode
plot)を示す。図7用のデータはEISにより決定した。浸漬処理は、前記洗浄剤への
浸漬又は二次ドーパント処理からなり、各々について10秒間行った。図7に示すように、インピーダンスは、無洗浄のPANI:DNNSA(ライン702)とパラトルエンスルホン酸(PTSA)で洗浄したPANI:DNNSA(ライン704)が最高であった。IPAで洗浄したPANI:DNNSA(ライン706)は、ライン702と704の材料と比較して低いインピーダンスをもつ材料を与える。また、IPAで洗浄し、空気乾燥し、次いでブトキシエタノール中1%のPTSA/PTSAM溶液で洗浄したPANI:DNNSA(ライン708)は、ブトキシエタノール中1%のPTSA/PTSAM溶液で洗浄し、空気乾燥し、次いでIPAで洗浄したPANI:DNNSA(ライン710)より、また、ライン702と704と706の材料より小さなインピーダンスを与える。

PANIPOLは、ドデシルベンゼンスルホン酸(DBSA)でドープされた高導電性ポリマー(PANI:DNNSAとは異なり材料洗浄の前)であり、トルエンに少し可溶で、ポリウレタン塗液中で使用可能である。PANIPOLを含む材料は、トルエンとキシレン中のポリマー分散物から形成できる。これらの分散物のシート抵抗はそれぞれ12.8と16.2Ωである。このポリマーは、複数の溶媒、例えばキシレン類やトルエンにほんの少し可溶であり、このため塗布すると基材上に粗い材料を与える。これらの材料の表面粗さは、PANIPOL材料の「耐空性」を損なうこととなる。これは、これらの材料がクラッキングを受けやすく、下層/基材が化学的損傷やUVによる損傷を受けやすくなるためである。図9に、トルエン溶液の形態で塗布形成したPANIPOL材料の抵抗値(kΩ)/アニーリング温度を示す。図9に示すように、アニーリング温度の上昇で、PANIPOL材料の抵抗値が上昇する(データポイントを黒ダイアモンド印で示す)。
し高いエネルギー吸収を持つ。このように、この吸収を考えると、PANI:DBSAフィル(PANI:DBSA fill)での低エネルギー遷移へのブロードニング(broadening)は、バイポーラロン遷移のいくつかの単独ポーラロンへの変換(脱ドープ)であると考えてよい。これは、この材料がDBSAを失い、これが導電率の差の原因であることを意味するのであろう。
従来の表面塗膜は、下層の表面及び/又は表面塗膜の他成分の混合したポリマーとの親和性に欠ける。例えば、エポキシ樹脂は多くの望ましい物理特性を持つが、それでも多数の求核性化合物、例えばPANIなどのアニリンと反応する。望ましくない反応性の結果、副産物の析出及び/又は凝集が起こる。反応性種、例えばポリアニリンを、適合した溶媒へ溶解すると、分散性を改善し、これが、反応性の表面及び/又は反応種と混合されたポリマー、例えばポリウレタンとの望まざる反応を減少させることが明らかとなっている。反応種の溶解は、適合した耐空性のある材料であって、輸送体部品の表面、又は輸送体部品上に設けられた炭素同素体材料の上及び/又は中に利用可能な材料の形成を促進する。このことは、耐空性のための所望の物理特性を持つことに加えて、表面塗膜の周辺の材料との適合性が重要であることを示す。ポリアニリンに適当な溶媒には、キシレン類、トルエン、ベンゼンや、これらの混合物が含まれる。PEDOT:PSSに適当な溶媒には、高極性プロトン性溶媒(例えば水)やDMSOが含まれる。

た電気的及び機械的特性を持つ第2材料を形成する。
PEDOTは、高い固有導電率を持つ導電性ポリマーである。これは、有機薄膜太陽電池中の電子選択的輸送材料として使用可能であり、静電気拡散性塗膜中で使用可能である。例えば、実施例8では、市販のPEDOT:PSSを、例えばアルクラッド表面(Alclad surfaces)用の接着促進前処理剤であるグリシジル-Si-Zr-含有ゾルゲル(glycidyl-Si-Zr-containing solgel)であるボーゲル(Boegel)に加えた。
高温硬化型エポキシ樹脂を用いて、多数の市販の分散剤のPEDOT:PSSを分散させる効力を試験した。ルーブリゾール社(Lubrizol)製ソルプラスR700(Solplus R700)分散剤を含むエポキシ中の添加量レベルが0.1%~2.0%であるPEDOT:PSSの試料と分散剤を含まない試料との比較を行った。全ての試料中のPEDOT:PSSに相分離が認められたが、ソルプラス含有試料は、粒子凝集が劇的に減少した。ソルプラスR700を含む試料は、特に低添加量レベルで反応性が低い。
本開示の態様には、基材上に複数の層として形成されて多層スタックを形成する材料が含まれる。少なくとも一態様において、多層スタックは、同一材料で同一厚みの単層と比べて、全体として低い電気抵抗値を与える。多層スタックはまた、例えば輸送体部品の塗膜/表面に全体としてより大きな強度を与える。
実施例9は、4層の多層スタックであり、各層は、各層塗布後にIPAで洗浄されたPANI:DNNSAである。各々の塗布と洗浄後の多層スタックの厚みと表面抵抗値を、下表6に示す。IPA処理された試料では、100Ω/□より小さな抵抗値が達成された。
本開示の材料の用途の非限定例には、熱可塑性材料としての用途及び/又はプリプレグ材料の成分としての用途が含まれる。プリプレグ材料用途では、本開示の材料が、グラファイトやガラス繊維、ナイロン、ケブラー(登録商標)等の材料(例えば、他のアラミドポリマー)、ポリエチレン等からなる繊維材料の上及び/又は中に設けられてもよい。

シート材料を、基板上に配置し、1種類以上のポリマーを適当な溶媒(例えば、キシレン類、トルエン、水等)と混合し、十分な層厚になるまでシート材料の上及び/又は中に噴霧して望ましい表面抵抗を得る。次いで、溶媒を室温(又はより高温)で蒸発させると、基材の表面に硬化した材料層が形成される。
材料の厚みを利用して、塗布材料の導電率や抵抗値を精密に調整することができ、そのために、例えば、基材にPANI:DNNSAシートを異なるチャック回転数(chuck rotations)でスピンコートする。図12に、スピン速度と材料厚みとを示す。図12に示
すように、未処理の材料(黒丸)は、塗布スピン速度に大きく依存する。面白いことに、最終材料の厚みの差異は、材料を処理(洗浄剤に浸漬)すると低減する(白丸)。少なくとも一態様では、本開示の材料は、約100rpm~約4,000rpm、例えば約1,000rpm~約3,000rpmのスピン速度にてスピンコーティングにより塗布される。少なくとも一態様において、材料は、シート材料からなる。
輸送体部品に1つ以上の本開示の材料を塗布し(必要なら硬化させ)ることにより、例えば過酷な気候条件の結果として1つ以上の輸送体部品上に氷が堆積した場合、この輸送体部品を「除氷」することができる。本開示の材料は導電性であるため、材料を含む表面に電圧を印加すると、この表面の温度が上昇し、この表面に堆積した氷の一部が溶融する。少なくとも一態様において、この導電性材料層は電極である。これに加えてあるいはこれに代えて、この導電性材料層に電極が取り付けられる。
航空機には、航空機のノーズの後方にレーダーが存在する。ノーズには、プレシピテーションスタチック(precipitation static)(Pスタチック:P-static)と呼ばれるある種の静電気が蓄積することが多い。
従来の塗膜は、蓄積電荷を放散できないことに加えて、「耐空性」があるとはいえない。例えば、航空機などの輸送体の表面に用いられてきた従来の表面塗膜では、雨による侵食、紫外光耐性、高温耐性、低温耐性、砂や雹によるダメージへの耐性などの耐久性パラメーターに関する性能が、不十分である。また、戦闘用ジェット機のキャノピーの塗膜、及び/又は、民間航空機や戦闘用ジェット機の風防ガラスや窓の塗膜の場合、これらの表面の塗膜は、当該表面越しの可視性を高めるために、実質的に透明でなければならない。
本開示の材料は「耐空性」があり、例えば雨による侵食、紫外光耐性、高温耐性、低温耐性、砂や雹によるダメージへの耐性、改善された柔軟性、及び改善された視認性など、1つ以上の耐空性パラメーターが(従来の塗膜と比べて)改善されている。

Claims (9)
- 炭素同素体材料、ポリマー、及びスルホン酸を含むコーティング材料に電圧を印加することを含み、前記コーティング材料は、輸送体部品の表面に設けられている、輸送体部品の表面を加熱する方法であって、
前記スルホン酸は、ナフチルスルホン酸、アントラセニルスルホン酸、ピレニルスルホン酸、又はこれらの混合物を含み、
前記ポリマーは、ポリアニリン、ポリ(エチレンジオキシチオフェン)、ポリ(スチレンスルホネート)、及びこれらの混合物からなる群より選択される第1ポリマーを含み、
前記ポリマーは、ポリビニルブチラール、グリシジル-Si-Zr-含有ゾルゲル、これらの混合物、及びこれらの塩からなる群より選択される第2ポリマーをさらに含む、方法。 - 前記コーティング材料の表面に電圧を印加することで、前記輸送体部品の表面に付着した固相の水が少なくとも部分的に溶融する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記輸送体部品は、ノーズ、燃料タンク、テールコーン、パネル、2つ以上のパネル間の被覆ラップジョイント、翼と胴体部のアセンブリ、航空機複合構造材、胴体部ジョイント、翼リブと外皮のジョイント、及び/又はその他の内部部品からなる群から選択される、請求項1又は2に記載の方法。
- 前記電圧は、約10ヘルツから約2000ヘルツ、及び/又は約10ボルトから約2000ボルトの交流電圧である、請求項1~3のいずれか1つに記載の方法。
- 前記炭素同素体材料はシート材料である、請求項1~4のいずれかに記載の方法。
- 前記炭素同素体材料は、カーボンナノチューブ、グラフェン、フラーレン、又はこれらの組み合わせを含む、請求項1~5のいずれか1つに記載の方法。
- 少なくとも1種類のポリマーと、
少なくとも1種類のスルホン酸と、
炭素同素体材料と、を含む、導電性コーティング材料であって、
前記スルホン酸は、ナフチルスルホン酸、アントラセニルスルホン酸、ピレニルスルホン酸、又はこれらの混合物を含み、
前記少なくとも1種類のポリマーは、ポリアニリン、ポリ(エチレンジオキシチオフェン)、ポリ(スチレンスルホネート)、及びこれらの混合物からなる群より選択される第1ポリマーを含み、
前記少なくとも1種類のポリマーは、ポリビニルブチラール、グリシジル-Si-Zr-含有ゾルゲル、これらの混合物、及びこれらの塩からなる群より選択される第2ポリマーをさらに含む、導電性コーティング材料。 - 前記炭素同素体材料は、単層カーボンナノチューブ、多層カーボンナノチューブ、グラフェン、フラーレン、又はこれらの組み合わせを含む、請求項7に記載の導電性コーティング材料。
- 前記導電性コーティング材料のオーム/平方値は、前記炭素同素体材料のオーム/平方値より約1.2倍から約20倍大きい、請求項7又は8に記載の導電性コーティング材料。
