Description
図1は本実施形態に係る記録装置1000の内部の模式図である。

図6に、平地(気圧1atm)と高地(0.7atm)時の正常吐出時の吐出状態の模式図を示す。
図6(b)は、気圧0.7atm時の吐出状態を示す図である。図6(a)と同様にヒータを加熱するための駆動パルスが印加されたタイミングを0μsecとする。図6(a)と同様に1.5μsec経過後にインクの発泡が始まり、3.0μsec付近でインクが外に飛び出す。このとき、気圧が1atmより低いため図6(a)の時よりも発泡が大きくなる速度が速く、インクは早く吐出される。インクを吐出した後、尾引が着滴するが、外気圧が低いため尾引を引き込む力が気圧が1atmの場合よりも小さくなる。そのため、1atmのときには尾引が着滴する4.5μsec付近ではまだ尾引は記録素子309の界面に着滴しない。その後、6.0μsec付近でインク液滴の尾引が記録素子309の界面に着滴する。そして7.5μsec以降になるとインクがリフィルされ、発泡開始前の状態に戻る。
本実施形態では、インク液滴の尾引が記録素子309に着滴するときの記録素子309の温度を高く保つことで、着滴による降温速度の変化量を大きくする。
本実施形態では、吐出状態の判定において印加する駆動パルスについて、インクを吐出するための第1の駆動パルスとは別の第2の駆動パルスを印加する形態を説明する。第1の実施形態と同様の箇所については説明を省略する。
第2の実施形態では、第2の駆動パルスのパルス幅を長くすることによって尾引着滴時の記録素子309の温度を高く保った。本実施形態では第2の駆動パルスを印加するタイミングを変化させることで温度を高く保ち、特徴点における降温速度の変化量を大きくする。上述の実施形態と同様の部分については省略する。
上述の実施形態においては、印加する駆動パルスの印加開始時間、印加終了時間を変化させることで特徴点209の出現タイミング付近の記録素子309の温度を制御した。しかし、制御する対象は時間のみに限定するものではない。例えば記録素子309に印加するパルスの電圧を大きくしても同様の効果が得られる。

Claims (12)
- 複数の吐出口と、各々の前記吐出口に対応する位置に設けられた熱エネルギーを発生する記録素子を備え、前記記録素子の駆動によりインクを前記吐出口から吐出する記録ヘッドと、
前記記録素子を駆動するための駆動パルスを印加する駆動手段と、
インクを吐出するための駆動パルスを印加して前記記録素子を駆動したときの、前記記録素子付近の温度変化を検知する温度検知手段と、
前記温度検知手段によって検知した温度変化に基づいて前記吐出口のインクの吐出状態を判定する判定手段と、
を備える記録装置であって、
前記記録ヘッドの周囲の気圧の情報を取得する取得手段と、
前記取得手段が取得した前記気圧の情報に基づいて、前記駆動手段が、前記判定手段によってインクの吐出状態を判定するときに前記記録素子に印加する駆動パルスを設定する設定手段と、
を有し、
前記駆動手段は、前記判定手段によってインクの吐出状態を判定するときには前記記録素子に、インクを吐出させるための第1の駆動パルスと、前記第1の駆動パルスの後に第2の駆動パルスを印加することを特徴とする記録装置。 - 前記温度検知手段は、前記温度変化を検知するために1つの第1の駆動パルスを印加して前記記録素子を駆動し、
前記設定手段は、前記取得手段が取得した前記気圧の情報に基づいて前記第1の駆動パルスのパルス幅を変更することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の記録装置。 - 前記設定手段は、前記取得手段が取得した前記気圧の情報が示す気圧が第1の気圧の場合に設定する前記第1の駆動パルスのパルス幅よりも、前記取得手段が取得した前記気圧の情報が示す気圧が前記第1の気圧よりも低い第2の気圧の場合に設定する前記第1の駆動パルスのパルス幅の方が長いように1第の駆動パルスを設定することを特徴とする請求項2に記載の記録装置。
- 前記設定手段は、前記取得手段が取得した前記気圧の情報に基づいて前記第2の駆動パルスのパルス幅を変更することを特徴とする請求項1乃至3のいずれか1項に記載の記録装置。
- 前記設定手段は、前記取得手段が取得した前記気圧の情報が示す気圧が第1の気圧の場合に設定する前記第2の駆動パルスよりも、前記取得手段が取得した前記気圧の情報が示す気圧が前記第1の気圧よりも低い第2の気圧の場合に設定する前記第2の駆動パルスの方がパルス幅が長いように駆動パルスを設定することを特徴とする請求項4に記載の記録装置。
- 前記設定手段は、前記取得手段が取得した前記気圧の情報に基づいて、第1の駆動パルスの印加から前記第2の駆動パルスを印加するまでの時間を変更することを特徴とする請求項1乃至5のいずれか1項に記載の記録装置。
- 前記設定手段は、前記取得手段が取得した前記気圧の情報が示す気圧が第1の気圧の場合に設定する前記第2の駆動パルスよりも、前記取得手段が取得した前記気圧の情報が示す気圧が前記第1の気圧よりも低い第2の気圧の場合に設定する前記第2の駆動パルスの方が前記第1の駆動パルスの印加から前記第2の駆動パルスの印加までの時間が長くなるように駆動パルスを設定することを特徴とする請求項6に記載の記録装置。
- 前記設定手段は、印加する前記駆動パルスの電圧を変更することを特徴とする請求項1乃至7のいずれか1項に記載の記録装置。
- 前記取得手段は、気圧を測定するセンサであることを特徴とする請求項1乃至8のいずれか1項に記載の記録装置。
- 前記取得手段は、前記記録装置の設置場所の情報を取得し、前記設置場所の情報に基づいて気圧を決定することを特徴とする請求項1乃至8のいずれか1項に記載の記録装置。
- 前記設置場所の情報は、設置場所の標高、緯度、経度、地域名称のいずれかを含む情報であることを特徴とする請求項10に記載の記録装置。
