Claims (14)
- 測定軸方向に沿って延在し、信号変調スケールパターンを有するスケールと、
検出器と、
前記検出器によって与えられる検出器信号に基づいて前記スケールに沿った前記検出器のアブソリュート位置を決定する信号処理部と、を備え、
前記スケールは、
前記スケール上の周期的スケールトラックにおいて、前記測定軸方向に沿って延在する空間波長Wfを有する周期的パターンと、
前記スケール上のコードスケールトラックにおいて、前記測定軸方向に沿って延在するコードビット長Wcodeを有するアブソリュート位置コードパターンと、を備え、
前記アブソリュート位置コードパターンでは、当該アブソリュート位置コードパターンがアブソリュートコード範囲ACRを与え、N個の連続コードビットのグループのそれぞれが、前記アブソリュートコード範囲ACR内の対応するアブソリュート位置を一意に識別し、
前記検出器は、
前記スケールに対して前記測定軸方向に相対的に移動可能なように前記スケールに近接して搭載され、変動磁場を生成する少なくとも1つの導電性ループを有する磁場生成部と、
少なくとも前記変動磁場の一部を受け取って、前記スケールの隣接部分上の前記信号変調スケールパターンに依存した対応する信号を生成する複数の導電性ループを有する検出素子と、を備え、
前記検出素子は、
前記周期的パターンと重なるように配置され、かつ、前記スケール上の前記隣接部分上の前記周期的パターンに依存する空間周期的検出器信号のセットを与える周期的パターン検出素子のセットと、
前記アブソリュート位置コードパターンに重なるように配置され、かつ、コード検出器信号のM個のセットを与えるコードパターン検出素子のM個のセットと、を備え、
前記周期的パターン検出素子のセットの素子のそれぞれが、空間位相を有する周期的信号を与え、
Mは2以上であり、前記コードパターン検出素子のM個のセットは、前記スケールの前記隣接部分上の少なくともN個の連続コードビットを検出するために前記測定軸方向に離隔した少なくともN個の素子を有し、かつ、対応する第1及び第2のコード検出器信号のセットを与える第1及び第2のコードパターン検出素子のセットを少なくとも含み、
Wcodeは、Wfよりも大きく、かつ、M×Wf以下であり、
前記コードパターン検出素子のM個のセットは、それぞれの配列位置で、前記測定軸方向に沿って配置され、
前記それぞれの配列位置は、前記測定軸方向に連接したWf以下の間隔で互いにオフセットされており、
前記信号処理部は、前記コード検出器信号のM個のセットのそれぞれを入力とし、かつ、前記コード検出器信号のM個のセットに基づいて少なくともWfの分解能で前記スケールの前記隣接部分の粗いアブソリュート位置を決定し、また、少なくとも前記空間周期的検出器信号に基づいて、少なくとも0.1×Wfの分解能で前記スケールの前記隣接部分の詳細なアブソリュート位置を決定する、
エンコーダ。 - Mは2である、
請求項1に記載のエンコーダ。 - 前記第1及び第2のコード検出器信号のセットは、それぞれ、少なくともN個のコード検出器信号を与える、
請求項2に記載のエンコーダ。 - Mは、3以上である、
請求項1に記載のエンコーダ。 - 前記コードパターン検出素子のM個のセットは、それぞれ、少なくともN個のコード検出器信号を与える、
請求項1に記載のエンコーダ。 - Wfは2mm以下であり、Nは8以下である、
請求項1に記載のエンコーダ。 - Nは6以下である、
請求項6に記載のエンコーダ。 - Mは2であり、Wcodeは1.25Wf以上、かつ、1.75×Wf以下である、
請求項6に記載のエンコーダ。 - Wfは、1mm以下である、
請求項6に記載のエンコーダ。 - 前記検出器は、前記測定軸方向に沿った寸法Ldetを有し、
Ldetは、20mm以下である、

請求項6に記載のエンコーダ。 - 前記連接したWf以下の間隔のそれぞれは、ほぼ同じである、

請求項12に記載のエンコーダ。 - 前記検出器及び前記スケールは、変動磁場を生成することで動作する渦電流トランスデューサである、
