Description
発光表示装置は電子と正孔の再結合で発光層を発光させる自発光素子を用いるので、輝度が高くて駆動電圧が低く、超薄膜化が可能であるだけでなく、自由な形状への具現が可能な利点がある。
本発明は、発光素子間の寿命偏差を低減して残像を改善することができる発光表示装置及びその駆動方法を提供する。
図1は本発明の一実施例による発光表示装置の構成を示すブロック図、図2は図1に示す一サブピクセルの構成を例示した等価回路図である。

Claims (14)
- 入力最大輝度によって選択された閾値を基準に、前記閾値未満の映像データを、階調再現マスクを用いて前記閾値と最小値のいずれか一つに変換して出力し、前記閾値以上の映像データは維持して出力する映像処理部と、
発光素子を有する複数のサブピクセルを含むパネルと、
前記映像処理部の出力を前記パネルに提供するパネル駆動部と
を含み、
前記閾値未満の低階調領域で、前記パネルに対する駆動時間の経過によって、前記閾値を表示するサブピクセルの位置と前記最小値を表示するサブピクセルの位置とが可変する、

各発光素子の累積使用量と前記閾値によって、前記閾値を表示するサブピクセルの位置と前記最小値を表示するサブピクセルの位置とが可変する、
発光表示装置。 - 入力最大輝度によって選択された閾値を基準に、前記閾値未満の映像データを、階調再現マスクを用いて前記閾値と最小値のいずれか一つに変換して出力し、前記閾値以上の映像データは維持して出力する映像処理部と、
発光素子を有する複数のサブピクセルを含むパネルと、
前記映像処理部の出力を前記パネルに提供するパネル駆動部と
を含み、
前記映像処理部は、
複数の最大輝度別に、カラー別に異なるように設定された複数の閾値の中で前記入力最大輝度に対応する各カラーの閾値を選択して出力する閾値ルックアップテーブルと、
以前フレームの出力を各発光素子の使用量として累積する素子使用量累積部と、
前記閾値ルックアップテーブルから出力された各カラーの閾値と前記素子使用量累積部に保存された各発光素子の累積使用量を考慮して各カラーの前記階調再現マスクを生成して出力するマスク生成部と、
入力映像データを前記各カラーの閾値と比較し、前記各カラーの閾値未満の映像データは前記各カラーの階調再現マスクで決定された各マスク値と比較し、前記各カラーの閾値又は最小値に変換して出力し、前記各カラーの閾値以上の映像データは維持して出力する階調再現処理部とを含む、
発光表示装置。 - 前記マスク生成部は、
前記各カラーの階調再現マスクに対応するサブピクセルに対する各発光素子の累積使用量によって付与した順序値と、ガンマ定数と、前記各カラーの閾値と、前記階調再現マスクの大きさとを考慮して各サブピクセルに対応する各マスク値を決定し、前記各カラーの階調再現マスクを生成する、請求項3に記載の発光表示装置。 - 前記階調再現処理部は、
前記各カラーの閾値未満の映像データが前記各カラーの階調再現マスクの該当マスク値より大きければ、該当映像データを前記各カラーの閾値に変換して出力し、
前記各カラーの閾値未満の映像データが前記各カラーの階調再現マスクの該当マスク値以下であれば、該当映像データを前記最小値に変換して出力する、請求項4に記載の発光表示装置。 - 前記映像処理部は、
前記各カラーの閾値が階調値であるとき、前記以前フレームの出力を輝度値に変換して前記素子使用量累積部に出力する輝度変換部をさらに含む、請求項3に記載の発光表示装置。 - 前記映像処理部は、
前記各カラーの閾値が輝度値であるとき、前記階調再現処理部の入力端に位置し、前記入力映像データである階調値を輝度値に変換して前記階調再現処理部に出力する輝度変換部と、
前記階調再現処理部の出力である輝度値を階調値に変換して出力する階調変換部と
をさらに含み、
前記素子使用量累積部は、前記階調再現処理部の出力を前記以前フレームの出力として受けて累積する、請求項3に記載の発光表示装置。 - 複数の最大輝度別に、カラー別に異なるように設定された複数の閾値の中で入力最大輝度に対応する各カラーの閾値を選択して出力する閾値選択段階と、
以前フレームの出力を複数のサブピクセルのそれぞれに対する発光素子の使用量として累積する素子使用量累積段階と、
前記選択された各カラーの閾値と前記発光素子のそれぞれの累積使用量を考慮して各カラーの階調再現マスクを生成するマスク生成段階と、
入力映像データを前記各カラーの閾値と比較し、前記各カラーの閾値未満の映像データは前記各カラーの階調再現マスクで該当マスク値と比較して前記各カラーの閾値又は最小値に変換して出力し、前記各カラーの閾値以上の映像データは維持して出力する階調再現段階と、
前記階調再現段階の出力をパネルに表示する表示段階と
を含む、発光表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記マスク生成段階は、
前記各カラーの階調再現マスクに対応するサブピクセルの各発光素子の累積使用量によって付与した順序値と、ガンマ定数と、前記各カラーの閾値と、前記階調再現マスクの大きさとを考慮して前記サブピクセルにそれぞれ対応するマスク値を決定し、前記各カラーの階調再現マスクを生成する、請求項8に記載の発光表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記階調再現段階は、
前記各カラーの閾値未満のデータが前記各カラーの階調再現マスクの各マスク値より大きければ、該当データを前記各カラーの閾値に変換して出力し、
前記各カラーの閾値未満のデータが前記各カラーの階調再現マスクの各マスク値以下であれば、該当データを前記最小値に変換して出力する、請求項9に記載の発光表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記閾値未満の映像データが同一であっても、前記パネルに対する駆動時間の経過によって、前記閾値を表示するサブピクセルの位置と前記最小値を表示するサブピクセルの位置とが可変する、請求項8に記載の発光表示装置の駆動方法。
- 前記各カラーの閾値が階調値であるとき、前記以前フレームの出力を輝度値に変換して前記素子使用量累積段階に出力する輝度変換段階をさらに含む、請求項8に記載の発光表示装置の駆動方法。
- 前記閾値が輝度値であるとき、前記階調再現段階以前に前記入力映像データである階調値を輝度値に変換する段階と、
前記階調再現段階の出力である輝度値を階調値に変換して前記表示段階に出力する段階と
をさらに含む、請求項8に記載の発光表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記各カラーの閾値未満の低階調領域に前記各カラーの階調再現マスクを適用し、前記各カラーの閾値と最小値の組合せで前記低階調領域の輝度を再現する、請求項8に記載の発光表示装置の駆動方法。
