Description
第1部分と第2部分とを含む電極パターンを有する液晶素子と、
前記電極パターンに接続された駆動回路と、
前記液晶素子の前後に光軸方向に離して、かつ前記液晶素子の法線方向の射影において、前記液晶素子に対して部分配置され、クロスニコル配置された偏光子/検光子と、
所定の入射角範囲内で前記液晶素子に光を供給する光源と、
前記液晶素子を透過した光を前方に投影できる投影光学系と、
を有し、前記光源点灯時には前記駆動回路は、前記電極パターンの第1部分に対して状況に応じて電圧を印加/解除し、前記電極パターンの第2部分に対して常に電圧を印加し、前記電極パターンの第1部分を通過し、前方に投影される光は前記偏光子/検光子の両方を通過し、前記電極パターンの第2部分を通過し、前方に投影される光は前記偏光子/検光子の少なくとも一方を通過しない成分を含む、照明装置
が提供される。

Claims (10)
- 第1部分と第2部分とを含む電極パターンを有する液晶素子と、
前記電極パターンに接続された駆動回路と、
前記液晶素子の前後に光軸方向に離して、かつ前記液晶素子の法線方向の射影において、前記液晶素子に対して部分配置され、クロスニコル配置された偏光子/検光子と、
所定の入射角範囲内で前記液晶素子に光を供給する光源と、
前記液晶素子を透過した光を前方に投影できる投影光学系と、
を有し、前記光源点灯時には前記駆動回路は、前記電極パターンの第1部分に対して状況に応じて電圧を印加/解除し、前記電極パターンの第2部分に対して常に電圧を印加し、前記電極パターンの第1部分を通過し、前方に投影される光は前記偏光子/検光子の両方を通過し、前記電極パターンの第2部分を通過し、前方に投影される光は前記偏光子/検光子の少なくとも一方を通過しない成分を含む、照明装置。 - 前記液晶素子は、前方に投影された時に、鉛直方向上方に配置されるハイビームエリアと、前記ハイビームエリアより下方に配置されるロービームエリアとを有し、前記電極パターンの第1部分は前記ハイビームエリアに属し、前記電極パターンの第2部分は前記ロービームエリアに属する、請求項1に記載の照明装置。
- 前記液晶素子は、前記電極パターンの前記第2部分に隣接し、かつ前記第1部分と逆側の位置に、電極パターンが存在しない無電極領域を有する、請求項1または2に記載の照明装置。
- 前記液晶素子の前記無電極領域は、前記ロービームエリアに属する、請求項3に記載の照明装置。
- 前記電極パターンの第2部分は照明視野内垂直方向に関して幅bを有し、前記偏光子/検光子の内、前記液晶素子に近い方が前記液晶素子との間に形成する距離をaとし、前記入射角範囲が前記液晶素子の法線に対して形成する角度の内、大きい方をθとした時、
(b/2)≧(a*tanθ)
の関係が満たされる、請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の照明装置。 - 前記偏光子/検光子において、前記偏光子のロービームエリア側領域の一部が取り除かれている、請求項1〜5のいずれか1項に記載の照明装置。
- 前記液晶素子の電極パターンの前記第2部分は照明視野内垂直方向に関して前記偏光子より高さが高い、請求項6に記載の照明装置。
- 前記偏光子/検光子において、前記検光子のロービームエリア側領域の一部が取り除かれている、請求項1〜5のいずれか1項に記載の照明装置。
- 前記液晶素子の電極パターンの前記第2部分は照明視野内垂直方向に関して前記検光子より高さが高い、請求項8に記載の照明装置。
- 前記光源と前記偏光子との間に、前記偏光子に沿った方向に偏光を生じさせる構成をさらに有する、請求項1〜9のいずれか1項に記載の照明装置。
