(a)少なくとも1種の発光マトリックス材料及び少なくとも1種の更なる発光材料を含む粉末形態の出発材料を提供する工程;
(b)所望により設けられる成形する工程、特に軸プレス及び/若しくは冷間静水圧プレス、並びに/又はテープ成形若しくはスロットダイプロセス、並びに/又は熱可塑性プロセス(射出成形、高温注型(低圧又は中圧射出成形)、押出し)によって成形する工程;
(c)出発材料を焼結及び/又はホットプレスしてセラミック化する工程;
(d)所望により設けられる、焼結したセラミックを熱間静水圧プレスによって再圧縮する工程;
(e)所望により設けられる、焼結したセラミックを再加工する工程、特にイオンビーム作製プロセスによって、又は確定された若しくは不定の切削エッジを用いた機械加工若しくは微細粉砕プロセスによって、焼結したセラミックを再加工する工程;
を含む。
蛍光体セラミックは、LEDダイス上に、場合によってはシリコーン、ゾルゲル、又はガラス等の中間接合材料を用いて、薄板として直接適用される。
「リモート蛍光体(remote phosphor)」システムとは、蛍光体(発光団(luminophore)、英語:phosphor)が、狭い波長範囲で発光する発光光源から離れて配置され、通常は、ポリマー、ガラス、又はセラミックマトリックスの中に埋め込まれるか又は結合されているデバイスを特に意味する。従って、リモート蛍光体システムは、蛍光体が発光ダイスに直接適用されているLED光源等、光源に蛍光体が直接付与されているシステムとは根本的に異なっている。通常、2つの基本的構造で区別が成され、それらから多くの変型例が誘導され得る:
−オフィス照明システム(office lighting systems)、
−家庭用途システム(householf application systems)、
−店舗照明システム(shop lighting systems)、
−家庭照明システム(home lighting systems)、
−アクセント照明システム(accent lighting systems)、
−スポット照明システム(spot lighting systems)、
−劇場照明システム(theater lighting systems)、
−光ファイバー用途システム(fiber−optics application systems)、
−プロジェクションシステム(projection systems)、
−自発光ディスプレイシステム(self−lit display systems)、
−画素化ディスプレイシステム(pixelated display systems)、
−セグメントディスプレイシステム(segmented display systems)、
−警戒標識システム(warning sign systems)、
−医療用照明用途システム(medical lighting application systems)、
−表示標識システム(indicator sign systems)、及び
−装飾照明システム(decorative lighting systems)、
−携帯用システム(portable systems)、
−自動車用途(automotive applications)、
−温室照明システム(green house lighting systems)。
実施例Iに係るセラミックは、Li3Ba2La1.8Eu1.2(MoO4)8を90体積%及びLu3Al5O12:Ce(0.65%)を10体積%含み、以下のようにして作製した。
0.7894g(4.000mmol)のBaCO3、2.3030g(16.000mmol)のMoO3、0.2217g(3.000mmol)のLi2CO3、0.4223g(1.200mmol)のEu2O3、及び0.5865g(1.800mmol)のLa2O3を、粉砕助剤としてのアセトンと共に乳鉢中ですりつぶした。得られた粉末を、乾燥させ、磁器製坩堝に移し、大気中、800℃で12時間焼成した。こうして得られたケーキを、粉砕し、36μmの篩に掛けた。融点は、約960度である。
2.9651g(7.451mmol)のLu2O3、0.0168g(0.098mmol)のCeO2、及び1.2745g(12.500mmol)のAl2O3を、粉砕助剤としてのアセトンと共に乳鉢中ですりつぶした。得られた粉末を、乾燥させ、磁器製坩堝に移し、CO雰囲気下、1750℃で12時間加熱した。融点は、約2040〜2080℃である。
90体積%のLi3Ba2La1.8Eu1.2(MoO4)8及び10体積%のLu3Al5O12:Ce(0.65%)の混合物を、ミルで充分に粉砕した。こうして得られた粗蛍光体粉末を、有機グリコールバインダーと混合し、プレス加工してペレットとし、300MPaでの冷間静水圧プレスによって圧縮した。こうして得られたセラミック素地(green bodies)を、タングステンホイル上に置き、上述した還元性雰囲気中、1700°で加熱した。室温まで冷却した後、セラミックを切断してウエハにした。量子収率は67%であり、色点はx=0.510及びy=0.458に位置している。
例IIに係るセラミックは、Li3Ba2La1.8Eu1.2(MoO4)8を85体積%及びLu3Al5O12:Ce(0.65%)を15体積%含む。これは、実施例Iのセラミックと同様に作製した。量子収率は68%であり、色点はx=0.473及びy=0.488に位置している。
実施例IIIに係るセラミックは、Li3Ba2La1.8Eu1.2(MoO4)8を80体積%及びLu3Al5O12:Ce(0.65%)を20体積%含む。これも、実施例Iのセラミックと同様に作製した。量子収率は74%であり、色点はx=0.455及びy=0.504に位置している。
実施例IVに係るセラミックは、Li3Ba2La1.8Eu1.2(MoO4)8を90体積%及びY3Al5O12:Ce(2.5%)を10体積%含む。これも、実施例Iのセラミックと同様に作製した。量子収率は42%であり、色点はx=0.500及びy=0.483にあり、Y3Al5O12:Ceの融点は約1940〜1980℃である。
実施例Vに係るセラミックは、Li3Ba2La1.8Eu1.2(MoO4)8を85%及びY3Al5O12:Ce(2.5%)を15%含む。これも、実施例Iのセラミックと同様に作製した。量子収率は51%であり、色点はx=0.483及びy=0.500に位置している。
実施例VIに係るセラミックは、Li3Ba2La1.8Eu1.2(MoO4)8を80体積%及びY3Al5O12:Ce(2.5%)を20体積%含む。これも、実施例Iのセラミックと同様に作製した。量子収率は69%であり、色点はx=0.477及びy=0.507にある。
Claims (12)
- 発光材料を少なくとも2種含む蛍光体セラミックを含み、
前記発光材料のうちの1種は、その他の発光材料の融点よりも200℃以上低い融点を有し、且つマトリックス材料として用いられる、
発光デバイス。 - 前記マトリックス材料の融点が1300℃以下である、請求項1に記載の発光デバイス。
- 前記マトリックス材料が、赤色発光性である、請求項1又は請求項2に記載の発光デバイス。
- 前記マトリックス材料が、その他の発光材料の融点よりも400℃以上低い融点を有する、請求項1〜請求項3のいずれか一項に記載の発光デバイス。
- 非マトリックス材料が、ガーネット構造を有する材料を含む、請求項1〜請求項3のいずれか一項に記載の発光デバイス。
- 前記発光材料のうちの前記マトリックス材料ではない1種が、緑色発光性又は黄色発光性である、請求項1〜請求項4のいずれか一項に記載の発光デバイス。
- 前記発光材料のうちの前記マトリックス材料ではない1種が、青色発光性である、請求項1〜請求項6のいずれか一項に記載の発光デバイス。
- 前記蛍光体セラミックが、マトリックス材料ではない発光材料を2種以上含み、
前記蛍光体セラミック内に、これらの非マトリックス発光材料に属する選択された材料のみが本質的に存在する1又は複数のゾーン又は領域が存在する、請求項1〜請求項7のいずれか一項に記載の発光デバイス。 - 前記蛍光体セラミック中の前記マトリックス材料の体積分率(完成蛍光体セラミックにおける体積%/体積%)が20%以上99%以下である、請求項1〜請求項8のいずれか一項に記載の発光デバイス。
- 前記マトリックス材料が下記を含む群より選択される材料を含み:

を含む、請求項1〜請求項10のいずれか一項に記載の発光デバイスを製造する方法。 - オフィス照明システム、家庭用途システム、店舗照明システム、家庭照明システム、アクセント照明システム、スポット照明システム、劇場照明システム、光ファイバー用途システム、プロジェクションシステム、自発光ディスプレイシステム、画素化ディスプレイシステム、セグメントディスプレイシステム、警戒標識システム、医療用照明用途システム、表示標識システム、装飾照明システム、携帯用システム、自動車用途、及び温室照明システムのうちの1つ又は複数に用いられる、請求項1〜請求項10のいずれか一項に記載の発光デバイスを含むシステム。
