Description
以下、実施の形態について、説明する。本実施の形態では、表示装置として、有機エレクトロルミネッセンス(Electro Luminessence:EL)素子を用いた表示装置1を例として説明する。
はじめに、表示装置1の構成について説明する。図1は、本実施の形態に係る表示装置1の構成例を示す概略図である。図2は、本実施の形態に係る画素回路30の構成を示す回路図である。図3は、本実施の形態に係る表示装置1の構成を示すブロック図である。図4は、本実施の形態に係るゲート駆動回路14の構成例を示す回路図である。
画素回路30は、図2に示すように、発光素子32と、駆動トランジスタ33と、選択トランジスタ35と、画素容量38とを有している。
次に、制御装置20およびゲート駆動回路14の構成について説明する。
ここで、本実施の形態に係る制御装置20およびゲート駆動回路14の動作について説明する。
本実施の形態に係る表示装置1によると、リフレッシュを中止する動作を利用して、次のような効果が得られる。
図10は、変形例1に係る画素回路130の構成を示す回路図である。本変形例に係る画素回路130は、実施の形態に係る画素回路30と比べて、スイッチトランジスタ37を備えている点で相違する。
図11は、変形例2に係る画素回路230の構成を示す回路図である。本変形例に係る画素回路230は、変形例1に係る画素回路130と比べて、スイッチトランジスタ36を備えている点で相違する。
図12は、変形例3に係る画素回路330の構成を示す回路図である。本変形例に係る画素回路330は、変形例2に係る画素回路230と比べて、スイッチトランジスタ34を備えている点で相違する。
なお、本発明は、上述した実施の形態および変形例に記載した構成に限定されるものではなく、適宜変更を加えてもよい。

Claims (3)
- 行列状に配置された複数の画素回路を有するパネル部と、
前記パネル部に表示される映像信号を前記画素回路へ供給するソース駆動回路と、
前記映像信号の書き込みタイミングを示すゲート信号を、前記画素回路へ行順次に供給するゲート駆動回路と、
リフレッシュ中止信号を受信する制御端子と、を備え、
前記ゲート駆動回路は、前記ゲート信号の供給中に前記制御端子で前記リフレッシュ中止信号が受信されると、後続の行の前記画素回路へのゲート信号の供給を中止し、
前記ゲート駆動回路は、
前記リフレッシュ中止信号として機能するスタート信号を受信するスタート端子と、
前記パネル部の行に対応して設けられた複数のレジスタを多段に接続したシフトレジスタと、を有し、
初段のレジスタは前記スタート端子から前記スタート信号を取得し、
前記シフトレジスタは、前記スタート信号をレジスタ間で転送しながら行ごとのゲート信号として出力し、
2段目以降のレジスタにおける前記スタート信号は、前記初段のレジスタで取得される新たなスタート信号に応じてクリアされる、
表示パネル。 - 表示パネルの制御装置であって、
前記表示パネルは、行列状に配置された複数の画素回路と、映像信号を前記画素回路へ供給するソース駆動回路と、前記映像信号の書き込みタイミングを示すゲート信号を前記画素回路へ行順次に供給するとともに、前記ゲート信号の供給中に与えられるリフレッシュ中止信号に応じて後続の行の前記画素回路へのゲート信号の供給を中止するゲート駆動回路と、を有し、
フレームレートが可変の複数のフレーム画像で構成される映像を表す映像信号を受信し、前記映像信号を前記表示パネルへ供給する映像信号供給部と、
新たなフレーム画像に対応する映像信号の供給を開始するときに、前記リフレッシュ中止信号を前記表示パネルへ供給する走査制御部と、を備える、
表示パネルの制御装置。 - 表示パネルと制御装置とを備える表示装置であって、
前記表示パネルは、
行列状に配置された複数の画素回路を有するパネル部と、
前記パネル部に表示される映像信号を前記画素回路へ供給するソース駆動回路と、
前記映像信号の書き込みタイミングを示すゲート信号を、前記画素回路へ行順次に供給するゲート駆動回路と、
リフレッシュ中止信号を受信する制御端子と、を備え、
前記ゲート駆動回路は、前記ゲート信号の供給中に前記制御端子で前記リフレッシュ中止信号が受信されると、後続の行の前記画素回路へのゲート信号の供給を中止し、
前記制御装置は、
フレームレートが可変の複数のフレーム画像で構成される映像を表す映像信号を受信し、前記映像信号を前記表示パネルへ供給する映像信号供給部と、
新たなフレーム画像に対応する映像信号の供給を開始するときに、前記リフレッシュ中止信号を前記表示パネルへ供給する走査制御部と、を備える、
