Description
The present disclosure relates to a method of manufacturing a membrane-electrode assembly (MEA: membrane-electrode assembly) and a membrane-electrode assembly.
As a method for producing a membrane-electrode assembly used in a fuel cell, a transfer base material to which a catalyst layer having a desired shape is applied and a solid polymer electrolyte membrane are thermocompression-bonded with a hot press, a thermal laminating roll, etc. A method of peeling only the base material of the transfer base material has been proposed.
For example, Patent Document 1 discloses a method using a hot laminate roll and a method using a hot press as a method for producing a membrane-electrode assembly. In the method of using a thermal laminating roll described in Patent Document 1, a transfer substrate is disposed on both sides of a long solid polymer electrolyte membrane and a solid polymer electrolyte membrane, and a catalyst layer having a desired shape is provided. And contact the two, and thermocompression bonding with a pair of thermal laminating rolls to integrally bond the solid polymer electrolyte membrane and the catalyst layer. Thereafter, only the base material from the transfer base material is peeled off from the catalyst layer using a pair of peeling rolls.
Moreover, in the method using the hot press described in Patent Document 1, the catalyst layer supported on the catalyst layer-supporting base material is transferred to the solid polymer electrolyte membrane using the hot press. Comparing the two methods described in Patent Document 1, since the transfer of the catalyst layer to the solid polymer electrolyte membrane can be continuously performed by the transfer method using a thermal laminating roll, the transfer is performed using a hot press. The manufacturing speed can be improved as compared with the method.
By the way, in the transfer method by thermocompression bonding using a heat laminating roll or a hot press described in Patent Document 1, both the polymer contained in the solid polymer electrolyte membrane and the catalyst layer are heated to a high temperature near the glass transition temperature. Thereby, since adhesion between layers increases, transfer from a catalyst layer carrying base material to a solid polymer electrolyte membrane becomes possible. Further, at the time of thermal transfer, it is necessary to pressurize the catalyst layer-supporting substrate and the solid polymer electrolyte membrane at a high temperature. When performing thermocompression bonding, it is necessary to heat the polymer contained in the solid polymer electrolyte membrane and the catalyst layer to a high temperature close to the glass transition temperature, but at this time the heat and pressure generate heat wrinkles in the catalyst layer supporting substrate There is a problem to do. When thermal wrinkles occur, the transferability to the catalyst layer is lowered, and the power generation performance of the obtained membrane-electrode assembly may be lowered. In addition, since the solid polymer electrolyte membrane itself is also pressurized under high temperature, there is a possibility that the planarity may be lowered. When the planarity of the solid polymer electrolyte membrane is lowered, wrinkles and gaps are generated when a gasket, a separator, or the like is laminated, and the power generation performance may be lowered.
Further,

Further, as shown in FIG. 1 (G), the liquid catalyst ink 3 is applied to the lower surface side of the electrolyte membrane substrate 1 in the same manner as the processing in FIG. Then, as shown in FIG. 1H, the
In the above embodiment, the solid
Hereinafter, although the specific example of the material which comprises the solid
フッ素系高分子電解質としては、例えば、デュポン製Nafion(登録商標)、旭硝子製Flemion(登録商標)、旭化成製Aciplex(登録商標)、ゴア製GoreSelect(登録商標)などを用いることができる。
As the polymer material constituting the solid

Moreover, in the said embodiment, the
Furthermore, in the above embodiment, the base material layers of the first and second multilayer
Furthermore, in the above embodiment, the adhesive layer of the first and second multilayer
Furthermore, in the above embodiment, the first and second cuts are made in the size corresponding to the
Furthermore, in the said embodiment, the heating temperature by the
Furthermore, in the above embodiment, the coating apparatus for forming the
Further, the adhesion between the solid
Furthermore, in the method of manufacturing the membrane-electrode assembly 4 according to the above-described series of steps, it is preferable that all steps be performed continuously in consideration of production efficiency, but all steps in consideration of the yield in the coating step of the

According to the said structure, since the process which requires the thermocompression bonding in the glass transition temperature vicinity is not used, the high quality membrane-electrode assembly 4 excellent in a thermal wrinkle and planarity can be manufactured. In addition, the dimensional change of the solid

Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in detail with respect to Examples 1 and 2. However, the present invention is not limited only to these examples.
In Example 1, the membrane-electrode assembly 4 was manufactured in the same manner as in the above embodiment using the roll-to-roll method, and the planarity and the like were made.
First, polyethylene naphthalate (TEONEX Q51, made of Teijin DuPont Film, 25 μm thick) is used as a base of a continuous multilayer plastic film to be a base of the first and second multilayer
In Example 1, the appearance of the solid
In addition, as a comparison of Example 1, an electrolyte membrane base without the second
Table 1 shows the evaluation results in Example 1 and Comparative Example 1. As shown in Table 1, in Example 1, when the solid
Next, in Example 2, the influence on the planarity etc. by the peeling force of the adhesive layer was investigated. In Example 2, the same solid
The conditions and evaluation results of the peeling force in Example 2 and Comparative Example 2 are shown in Table 2. As a result of the evaluation, it was confirmed that peeling occurred when the electrolyte membrane substrate 1 was cut out when the peeling force at 25 ° C. was less than 0.02 N / 25 mm. Further, as shown in Table 2, when the peeling force at 80 ° C. is less than 0.2 N / 25 mm, floating occurs when the discontinuous flat portion is removed, and not only ink penetration occurs. It was confirmed that the flatness is reduced by the wrinkles (Comparative Examples 2-1 and 2-3). Further, it was found that when the peeling force at 80 ° C. was 3.0 N / 25 mm or more, adhesive residue was generated on the solid polymer electrolyte membrane when the discontinuous flat portion was removed (comparison (comparison) Example 2-2).
