Description
I.システム概要
図1は、本発明の一実施形態に係るデータセンタの間取り図を示す。周囲の壁1は、データセンタの周囲の壁又は小売店等の商業用建物の周囲の壁であってもよい。データセンタは、複数のHVACユニット2(又は他の環境維持モジュール)、複数の環境センサ3及び複数のサーバラック4を含む。示されるように、HVACユニットは、コンピュータルーム空調装置(CRAC)ユニットである。
いくつかの実施形態において、監視制御器15は、各HVACユニット2の入力12へのコマンドを算出することにより複数のHVACユニット2の動作を調整できる。コマンドは、センサ3からの環境センサ読み取り値に基づいて算出される。入力12は、種々の異なるHVACユニット2及び/あるいはHVACユニット2内のデバイス又は回路に対応してもよい。
環境センサ3は、温度、湿度及び気圧等の環境の物理的状態の値を測定できる。環境センサ3は、例えば有線通信手段又は無線通信手段(例えば、Modbus、BACnet、Wi−Fi、WiMAX、ZigBee又は他のあらゆる適当なプロトコル)により読み取り値を監視制御器15に返送できる。センサの例には、温度センサ、湿度センサ及び気圧センサが含まれる。単一のセンサは、複数の環境条件、例えば上記の条件のうちの3つ全てを測定できてもよい。環境センサ3は、規則的なパターンに従って又はランダムに位置付けられてもよい。更に環境センサ3は、センサのクラスタにより編成されてもよく、あるいは個々に配置されてもよい。
一実施形態において、監視制御器15は、入力12に提供され且つHVACユニット2の最終制御要素(例えば、アクチュエータ)に対して直接使用されるコマンドを算出する。入力12に送出されるこれらのコマンドは、例えば有線通信手段又は無線通信手段により提供されてもよい。これらのコマンドは、HVACユニット2のあらゆる数の動作レベルを開始、停止又は変化させてもよい。
一実施形態において、監視制御器15は、環境センサ3及び/又はHVACユニット2から状況標識13を受信する手段を有する。一態様において、状況標識13は、HVACユニット2又はセンサ3が現在動作可能であるかに関する情報を提供してもよい。別の態様において、状況標識13は、戻り空気温度、排出温度、使用されているユニットの容量の部分(例えば、割合)(これは動作レベルの一例である)及び冷水バルブ(例えば、320)がどのくらい開いているか等のHVACユニットの設定を提供してもよい。状況標識13は、説明のためにHVACユニット2及びセンサ3とは別個に示され、HVACユニット2又はセンサ3自体から実際に受信されてもよい。
II.伝達関数行列及び負荷行列の初期化
伝達関数行列(TM)は、環境センサに対する環境維持モジュールを増加(及び場合によっては同等に減少)する影響の基準である。行列は、システムの全てのセンサ又はセンサの一部分のみに対して影響を及ぼしてもよい。一態様において、TMの行Jの数は、環境センサ(CRACユニットを使用する実施形態に対してコールドアイルセンサとも呼ばれる)の数に等しくてもよく、列の数は環境維持モジュールの数に等しくてもよい。従って、一実施形態において、モジュール毎に1つの列しかない。そのような一実施形態において、モジュールのエネルギー消費の1つの基準、すなわち動作レベルが決定される1つのパラメータしかない。別の実施形態において、モジュールに対して2つ以上の行があってもよいため、各々がモジュールの動作レベルの測定値を提供する2つ以上のパラメータがあってもよい。尚、行及び列は切り替わってもよい。更に「行列」という用語は、値のあらゆる索引付け可能なアレイであってもよい。
ステップ540において、各々が対応する第1のセンサ温帯Y2と第2のセンサ値Y2との差が算出される(例えば、プロセッサ10により)。従って、使用されているN個のセンサがある場合、変更された動作パラメータ毎にY2J−Y1JのN個の各値があり、Jは1〜Nにわたる。この差は正又は負であってもよい。一般に冷却するために、変化が動作レベルの上昇である場合、温度(冷却のための関心センサ値)は低下し、Y2J−Y1Jの各々は負である。更に一般に冷却するために、変化が動作レベルの低下である場合、温度は上昇し、Y2J−Y1Jの各々は正である。しかし、これらの関係は常に当てはまらない。例えば、モジュールの戻り温度が所望の排出温度以下である場合、モジュールは、冷却能力をoffにしてもよい。従って、空気が依然として送風機により送り出されることによりいくらかの熱が空気に伝えられるため、モジュールは、冷却しないが実際には加熱する。従って、いくつかの伝達行列要素は他の反対符号を有してもよく、それは非直感的である。

一実施形態において、LOAD行列は、システムの容量に対するモジュールの動作レベルを低下させる影響の基準を提供する。例えばLOAD行列は、他のCRACユニットのうちの1つをoffにする場合にコンピュータルームのサーバの熱負荷に対処するように増加するCRACユニットの容量の割合に厳密に関連してもよい。一実施形態において、LOADの行及び列の番号は環境維持モジュールの数に等しい。
III.エネルギー使用量を削減するためのTMの使用
伝達行列は、センサを許容可能な範囲内に維持するために使用されてもよい。伝達行列は、削減されたエネルギー量を使用しつつセンサを許容可能な範囲内に維持する動作レベルを決定するために更に使用されてもよい。エネルギーに対する影響力を決定するため、動作レベルの変化は、アクチュエータ毎に固定値であると仮定される(しかし、全て同一ではない)。このように、各アクチュエータは、互いに比較されてもよく、センサに最も影響を及ぼすアクチュエータを識別してもよい。従って、アクチュエータに伝えられたエネルギー量が最も効率的であるため、このセンサが範囲外である場合、最も影響力を有するアクチュエータは、最もエネルギー効率のよいアクチュエータとして解釈されてもよい。
IV.センサ値を範囲に維持
図6は、本発明の一実施形態に従って高い効率で所望の範囲内にセンサ値を維持するように環境維持システムを制御する方法600を示すフローチャートである。方法600は、特定のセンサ値が所望の範囲外のセンサ値を有する場合に動作レベルを変化(上下)させるのに最適な1つ以上のアクチュエータを決定する。例えば、センサ(例えば、高温すぎるコールドアイルセンサ)の温度が閾値を上回る場合、方法600は、可能な限り迅速に又はエネルギー効率のよい方法でセンサを範囲に戻すように動作レベルを上昇(例えば、開始)させるべきモジュールを決定してもよい。一実施形態において、方法600の全て又は一部は、制御器15、あるいは本明細書において説明される別のコンピュータ又はプロセッサにより実行される。

上述したように、アクチュエータを減少することにより、範囲外のセンサ値を所望に変化させることができる場合もある。変化は、センサ値を範囲に戻すようにするほど十分でない場合もあるが、依然として所望の方向である。例えばデータセンタを冷却する場合、モジュールを停止することにより、実際にはセンサ温度が低下する可能性がある。
V.動作レベルを低下させることによるエネルギーの節約
全てのセンサが範囲内にある場合、アクチュエータの動作はエネルギーを節約するために軽減されてもよい。そのように軽減された動作は、センサ値に対して範囲外状態を防止するように制御されてもよい。例えば予測された変化値は、センサ値を範囲に戻すアクチュエータを決定するために先に使用されたように、範囲外状態を発生させないアクチュエータを決定するために使用されてもよい。

VI.モジュールの停止
上述したように、動作パラメータの動作レベルを低下させるモジュールを識別する処理の結果、モジュールを完全に停止させてもよい。図8は、本発明の一実施形態に従って複数のモジュール及びセンサを含むモジュールを停止することにより環境維持システムを制御する方法800を示すフローチャートである。方法800は、停止させるのに最適なモジュールを決定できる。特に方法800は、システムが冷却でき且つセンサが温度センサである一例を説明する。
VII.開始及び停止
いくつかの実施形態において、制御システムは、変更(増減)すべきアクチュエータを追跡し、センサ値を所望の範囲内に効率的に維持し、且つ種々の時間において範囲外状態を発生させずにエネルギーを節約するために減少されてもよいアクチュエータを追跡できる。一実施形態において、センサ値を範囲内に維持するための論理は、エネルギー使用を減少するための論理より優先される。例えば、効率の低いCRACがあり且つ同時にホットスポットがある場合、CRACを停止するのではなく開始する。
VIII. 共分散行列
伝達行列に加え、一実施形態は共分散行列を使用できる。一実施形態において、共分散行列は、制御動作の数の大きさの正方行列である(すなわち、共分散行列は、uの要素数と同数の行及び列を有する)。初期の共分散行列は、大きな数(例えば、1e6)で乗算された恒等行列であってもよい。一態様において、共分散行列は、センサに対応する伝達行列の推定された値の不確実性を説明してもよい。例えば共分散行列は、特定のセンサに対応するパラメータの伝達行列ベクトルの不確実性を提供してもよい。一実施形態において、他方のアクチュエータを超える一方のアクチュエータの動作レベルを変化させることにより、そのパラメータがセンサに影響を及ぼす方法に関するより多くの情報があるため、そのアクチュエータに対応する共分散行列の要素を減少できる。

IX.ペナルティ関数
上述したように、特定のアクチュエータに対する動作パラメータは、種々の動作値(レベル、設定等)を有してもよく、その結果、各々が種々のエネルギー量を消費する。このようにエネルギー(例えば、電気、蒸気、天然ガス等)の使用が異なることにより、システムを動作するコストは増加しうる。また、アクチュエータ毎のエネルギー使用は種々のアクチュエータ間で異なってよく、特定の種類のアクチュエータ内でも異なってよい。アクチュエータを起動するコストは維持コストに更に依存してよく、維持コストはアクチュエータの設定に依存して変動してよい。従って、アクチュエータを起動するコスト(例えば、エネルギー及び/又は維持)に対処することは、特に所望のセンサ範囲を更に所望する場合に非常に複雑になりうる。

より一般的な意味において、特定のセンサに対するPSへの部分寄与PS(Si)は、Riに基づく関数であってよい。例えば関数PS(Si)は、設定値を下回るあらゆる値に対するものであってよく、Riを上回るSiの値に対してあらゆる所望の方法で増加してよい。多数の基準値と比較する代わりに、関数は、特定の範囲(例えば、所望の温度範囲)を下回る値に対して正であり、その範囲内でゼロであり、且つその範囲を上回る値に対して正であってよい。その範囲の両側の正数は、場合によっては種々の関数形式を有する。各寄与PS(Si)は、例えば合計することにより、PSに対する全体的な値を決定するために使用されてもよい。
X.伝達モデルの精度の使用
上述したように、実施形態は、予測誤差のサイズに基づいて個々の制御コマンド(すなわち、動作レベルを設定する)の変化dU(例えば、最適な変化)又は制御コマンドの累積サイズを変倍できる。米国特許出願第12/396,944号公報におけるフィードバック方法を含むdUの変化を決定する方法に関係なく、そのような実施形態を使用できる。例えばモジュール1330は、予測誤差が増加するにつれ予測制御動作があまり使用されなくなるように、最適な制御コマンドの累積サイズを変倍できる。一態様において、ピアソン相関係数は、伝達モデルにおいて予測誤差を決定するために使用される。
XI.中点及び極値の変更
ペナルティ関数から取得された最適なdU及びdUを決定するために使用された伝達モデルの精度に関する情報の各々は、種々の方法で使用可能である。一実施形態において、最適なdUは、アクチュエータに対するフィードバック設定を乗算するスカラとして使用されてもよい。以下に説明するように、このフィードバック設定は、伝達モデルに基づいていなくてもよく、例えばセンサ分散の中点又は極値の値で動作する単純な発見的フィードバックループ(例えば、平均温度又はほぼ最高温度で動作するPIDループ)に基づいてよい。同様に、伝達モデルの精度は、伝達モデルを使用する中点又は極値の方法に対して使用可能である。
XII.コンピュータシステム
本明細書で説明したコンピュータシステムのうちのいずれかは、あらゆる適切な数のサブシステムを利用してもよい。そのようなサブシステムの例をコンピュータ装置1800の図18に示す。いくつかの実施形態において、コンピュータシステムは単一のコンピュータ装置を含み、サブシステムはコンピュータ装置の構成要素であってよい。他の実施形態において、コンピュータシステムは、各々が内部構成要素を含むサブシステムである多数のコンピュータ装置を含むことができる。
Claims (28)
- 複数のアクチュエータ及び各々が環境の物理的状態の値を測定する複数のセンサを含む環境維持システムを制御する方法であって、
前記センサに対応するセンサ値Sを受信するステップと、
前記アクチュエータの動作レベルUへの潜在的な変化dUを決定するステップと、
前記センサ値Sの予測された変化dSを決定するために、アクチュエータの動作レベルの変化と結果として得られるセンサ値の変化との関係を提供する伝達モデルをdUに適用することと、
前記予測された変化dSから新しいセンサ値SNewを決定することと、
SNewを使用してペナルティ関数への第1の寄与を決定することであって、前記第1の寄与はそれぞれの新しいセンサ値と1以上のそれぞれの設定値との差であり、前記1以上のそれぞれの設定値は前記センサについての基準値であることと、により
コンピュータシステムを用いて前記ペナルティ関数への前記第1の寄与を算出するステップと、
前記動作レベルUへの前記潜在的な変化dUに対応する新しい動作レベルUnewを決定することと、
新しい動作レベル毎に前記新しい動作レベルで前記対応するアクチュエータを動作するコストを決定することと、
前記コストを集約して第2の寄与を取得することと、により、
前記コンピュータシステムを用いて前記ペナルティ関数への前記第2の寄与を算出するステップと、
前記潜在的な変化dUに対する前記第1の寄与及び前記第2の寄与に基づいて前記ペナルティ関数の第1の値を決定するステップと、
前記動作レベルUへの複数の潜在的な変化に対する前記ペナルティ関数の値に基づいて前記アクチュエータの前記動作レベルUへの最適な変化を決定するステップと、
前記最適な変化に基づいて前記アクチュエータの前記動作レベルを設定するステップと、
を備え、
前記最適な変化に基づいて前記アクチュエータの前記動作レベルを設定するステップは、予測されたセンサ値と測定されたセンサ値とを比較することにより前記伝達モデルの精度を決定し、前記伝達モデルの前記精度に基づいて前記最適な変化を調整することを含むこと
を特徴とする方法。 - 前記最適な変化に基づいて前記アクチュエータの前記動作レベルを設定するステップは、更に
前記調整された最適な変化をUに追加するステップを含むことを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。 - 前記最適な変化を調整することは、正規化、ランダム化及び変倍のうちの少なくとも1つを含むことを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記最適な変化に基づいて前記アクチュエータの前記動作レベルを設定するステップは、
前記アクチュエータに対する新しい設定を受信するステップと、
前記最適な変化に基づいて前記新しい設定を調整するステップとを含むことを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。 - 前記センサ値Sの中点と中点基準との比較又は
前記センサ値Sの極値と極値基準との比較に基づいて新しい設定を提供するPIDオブジェクトを使用して前記新しい設定を算出するステップを更に備えることを特徴とする請求項4記載の方法。 - 前記動作レベルUへの複数の潜在的な変化は、前記最適な変化を決定するように解析され、所定の潜在的な変化に対応する前記ペナルティ関数の値Cが、dUがゼロであることに対応するベースラインC0未満である場合、前記複数の潜在的な変化のうちの最適な変化として前記値Cが前記ベースラインC0未満となるような前記潜在的な変化が選択されることを特徴とする請求項1から5のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 新しい動作レベルでアクチュエータを前記動作するコストは、エネルギーコスト及び維持コストのうちの少なくとも1つを含むことを特徴とする請求項1から6のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記新しい動作レベルを伴う前記対応するアクチュエータの前記動作するコストを決定するステップは、
エネルギー使用率毎のコストを受信するステップと、
前記エネルギー使用率毎のコスト及び前記新しい動作レベルを前記対応するアクチュエータの前記動作するコストを出力する関数に入力するステップとを含むことを特徴とする請求項7記載の方法。 - 前記第1の寄与を決定するためにSNewを使用することは、
センサ毎に、
SNewをパラメータとして前記センサの少なくとも1つの設定値を有するそれぞれの関数に入力し、部分的な第1の寄与の出力を取得するステップと、
前記センサから前記部分的な第1の寄与を合計するステップとを含むことを特徴とする請求項1から8のいずれか1項に記載の方法。 - それぞれの関数は、
前記対応する新しいセンサ値SNewと設定値との差分を利用するステップと、
前記差分に利得係数を掛けて前記センサに対する前記部分的な寄与を取得するステップとを含むことを特徴とする請求項9記載の方法。 - 前記アクチュエータの動作レベルUへの潜在的な変化dUを決定するステップは、前記新しい動作レベルUnewを受信することで達成され、この場合Unew=U+dUであり、前記センサ値Sの予測された変化dSを決定するために伝達モデルをdUに適用するステップは、前記伝達モデルを前記潜在的な変化dUに適用することで達成されることを特徴とする請求項1から10のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記アクチュエータの動作レベルUへの潜在的な変化dUを決定するステップは、現在の潜在的な変化を決定するために過去の潜在的な変化を取り入れる最適化アルゴリズムを使用することを特徴とする請求項1から11のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記設定値は種々のセンサ値を含むことを特徴とする請求項1から12のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記伝達モデルは数値の行列であることを特徴とする請求項1から13のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 複数のアクチュエータ及び各々が環境の物理的状態の値を測定する複数のセンサを含む環境維持システムを制御する、コンピュータにより実行されるステップを含む方法であって、
前記アクチュエータの動作レベルU1に対応する、前記センサに対応するセンサ値Sを受信するステップと、
前記アクチュエータの新しい動作レベルU2を受信するステップであり、この場合U2−U1=dUである、ステップと、
前記センサ値Sの変化dSを予測するステップであって、前記変化dSは前記変化dUに対応し、前記予測は伝達モデルに従って実行される、ステップと、
前記新しい動作レベルU2で前記アクチュエータを動作するステップと、
後続して新しいセンサ値Snewを測定するステップと、
前記受信するステップ、予測するステップ、動作するステップ及び後続して測定するステップを複数回繰り返すステップと、
前記予測されたセンサ値を前記測定されたセンサ値と比較することにより前記伝達モデルの精度を表す値を決定するステップと、
前記アクチュエータの現在の動作レベルへの前記伝達モデルに基づく提案された変更を受信するステップと、
前記精度を表す値に基づいて、前記アクチュエータの前記現在の動作レベルへの前記提案された変更を調整するステップと、
前記提案された変更に対する前記調整に基づいて前記アクチュエータの前記現在の動作レベルを設定するステップと、
を備えることを特徴とする方法。 - 前記精度を表す値を決定するステップは、
前記予測されたセンサ値及び前記測定されたセンサ値を格納するステップと、
センサ毎に、
前記予測されたセンサ値と前記測定されたセンサ値との差分を算出するステップと、
前記差分を集約するステップと、
前記集約された差分の規模に基づいて前記精度を表す値を決定するステップとを含むことを特徴とする請求項15記載の方法。 - 前記予測されたセンサ値は予測されたセンサ値の差分として格納され、前記測定されたセンサ値は測定されたセンサ値の差分として格納されることを特徴とする請求項16記載の方法。
- 予測されたセンサ値と測定されたセンサ値との差分を算出するステップは、前記差分を算出する前に前記値のうちの少なくとも1つを変倍及び/又はオフセットすることを含むことを特徴とする請求項16又は17記載の方法。
- 前記精度を表す値は、ピアソン相関係数を使用して決定されることを特徴とする請求項16から18のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記提案された変更は、
予測されたセンサ値と設定値との差分を含む第1の寄与と、
前記提案された変更の結果得られる動作レベルと関連付けられたコストを含む第2の寄与と、を含むペナルティ関数の最適化から決定されることを特徴とする請求項15から19のいずれか1項に記載の方法。 - 新しいセンサ値Snewを測定するステップは、前記新しい動作レベルU2で前記アクチュエータを動作し始めた後の所定の時間において実行されることを特徴とする請求項15から20のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記センサ値Sの変化dSを予測するステップは、dUに前記伝達モデルを掛けることで達成されることを特徴とする請求項15から21のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記アクチュエータの新しい動作レベルU2を受信するステップは、dU及びU1を受信することにより達成されることを特徴とする請求項15から22のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記アクチュエータの前記現在の動作レベルへの前記提案された変更を調整するステップは、
前記アクチュエータの動作の範囲を指定するステップと、
前記範囲に基づいて前記提案された変更を調整するステップとを含むことを特徴とする請求項15から23のいずれか1項に記載の方法。 - 前記範囲は前記動作を完全な動作性より狭い範囲に限定し、前記提案された変更は動作の百分率であり、前記調整することは前記限定された範囲に基づいて前記百分率を変更することを特徴とする請求項24記載の方法。
- 前記伝達モデルは数値の行列であることを特徴とする請求項15から25のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 実行されると複数のアクチュエータ及び各々が環境の物理的状態の値を測定する複数のセンサを含む環境維持システムを制御するようにコンピュータを制御する複数の命令を含むコンピュータプログラムであって、前記コンピュータプログラムは請求項1から14及び請求項15から26のいずれか1項に記載の方法のステップを実行するように構成されていることを特徴とするコンピュータプログラム。
- 複数のアクチュエータと、
各々が環境の物理的状態の値を測定する複数のセンサと、
請求項1から14及び請求項15から26のいずれか1項に記載の方法の各ステップを実行するように構成された1以上のプロセッサと、
を備えることを特徴とする環境維持システム。
