Description
上記課題を解決する内燃機関の排気浄化装置は、車両に搭載される内燃機関の排気通路に設けられて排気中の微粒子を捕集するフィルタと、排気通路における上記フィルタよりも下流に設けられた選択還元型のNOx浄化触媒と、を備える。更に、同装置は、排気通路における上記フィルタよりも下流かつ上記NOx浄化触媒よりも上流の部分に設けられて同排気通路内に尿素水を噴射する添加弁と、フィルタ再生要求があるときに前記フィルタを昇温させることにより同フィルタに捕集された微粒子を除去するフィルタ再生処理を実行する制御部と、を備える。そして、上記制御部は、内燃機関のアイドル運転中におけるフィルタ再生処理が、車両の走行中におけるフィルタ再生処理の実行を挟まずに規定回数続けて実行されているときには、フィルタ再生要求があるとしてもアイドル運転中のフィルタ再生処理を実行しないように構成されている。
図1に示されるように、車両に搭載される内燃機関5の排気通路6には上流から順に、酸化触媒2、フィルタ3、NOx浄化触媒7が設けられている。上記酸化触媒2は排気中の一酸化炭素(CO)や炭化水素(HC)を酸化して浄化し、上記フィルタ3は排気中の微粒子(PM)を捕集する。上記NOx浄化触媒7としては、尿素水の供給を受けて排気中のNOxを還元して浄化する選択還元型のものが採用されている。また、排気通路6におけるフィルタ3よりも下流側であって、且つ、NOx浄化触媒7よりも上流側の部分には、排気通路6内に尿素水を噴射するための添加弁8が設けられている。そして、添加弁8の噴孔9から噴射された尿素水は、排気通路6内の排気と共にNOx浄化触媒7に流される。
電子制御装置11は、同ルーチンのステップ101(S101)の処理として、フィルタ再生処理を実行する前になされるフィルタ再生要求があるか否かを判断する。このフィルタ再生要求は、例えば、フィルタ3における微粒子の堆積量が予め定められた閾値を越えて多くなったときになされる。また、フィルタ再生要求が一度なされると、フィルタ再生処理の終了条件が成立して同処理が終了するまでは、フィルタ再生要求が維持される。そして、S101で否定判断であれば、電子制御装置11はフィルタ再生処理ルーチンを一旦終了する。一方、S101で肯定判断であればS102に進む。
内燃機関5のアイドル運転中には、燃焼される燃料の量が少なくなって排気温度が低くなる。このため、アイドル運転中にフィルタ再生処理を行ったときの排気の熱では、添加弁8の噴孔9周りの温度を、尿素が析出する温度T1以上に上昇させることはできても、同尿素を消失させることができる温度T2以上に上昇させることができないおそれがある。この場合、添加弁8の噴孔9周りに更に尿素が堆積してしまい、そうしたアイドル運転中のフィルタ再生処理が車両の走行中のフィルタ再生処理を挟まずに何回も続くと、添加弁8の噴孔9周りで尿素の堆積が進んでしまうおそれがある。
(1)フィルタ再生処理の実行に伴って添加弁8における噴孔9周りでの尿素の堆積が進むことを抑制できる。
・図2のフィルタ再生処理ルーチンにおけるS106の処理については必ずしも実行する必要はなく、このS106の処理を省略することも可能である。

フィルタ再生要求があるときに前記フィルタを昇温させることにより同フィルタに捕集された前記微粒子を除去するフィルタ再生処理を実行する制御部と、
を備える内燃機関の排気浄化装置において、
前記制御部は、内燃機関のアイドル運転中における前記フィルタ再生処理が、車両の走行中における前記フィルタ再生処理の実行を挟まずに規定回数続けて実行されているときには、前記フィルタ再生要求があるとしてもアイドル運転中の前記フィルタ再生処理を実行しないように構成されている
ことを特徴とする内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
