b)タイム(Thymus vulgaris Linne’(Labiatae))の全草の粉末1kgに水20Lを加え、撹拌抽出した。得られた抽出液をろ過し、そのろ液を減圧下にて濃縮し、乾燥してタイムエキス末を得た。
c)ルイボス(Aspalathus Linearis)の葉の粗末1kgに水10Lを加え、1時間加熱抽出した。得られた抽出液をろ過し、そのろ液を減圧下にて濃縮し、乾燥してルイボスティーエキス末を得た。

試験湯は、実施例1の組成物30グラムを約200リットルの湯(約40℃)に溶解して調製した。試験期間は2週間であった。被験者は、試験期間中、内服薬および外用剤を従前どおり使用した。痒みの程度は、以下の表4に示す5段階の判断基準を用いた。

・5%ラウリル硫酸ナトリウム(SDS)5mLをwellに注入して、前腕被験部位に固定して10分間浸漬塗布(荒れ肌処理)する(T. OKA, M, Skin-softening effect of acetylhyaluronate on stratum corneum. J. cosmet, Sci, 50, 171-184(May/June 1999):以下、「文献2」と称する。)。
・荒れ肌処理後、すべてのwellを前腕被験部位より除去し、塗布部位をSDSのヌメリが消えるまで十分に水洗して、タオルで水分を拭き取る。
・その後、すぐに被験薬等を各々5mLずつwellに注入して、前腕被験部位に固定して10分間浸漬塗布する(文献2)。
・浸漬塗布後、すべてのwellを前腕被験部位より除去し、塗布部位の被験薬等をキムワイプで拭き取る。
・被験薬等除去の10分後に、TEWLを測定する。
