Claims (14)
- 電池アセンブリであって、前記電池アセンブリは、
(a)複数の電極プレートの1つ以上のスタックであって、
(i)1つの表面にアノードを有し反対側の表面にカソードを有する基板を備える1つ以上の双極プレートと、
(ii)前記電極プレートの各々の間に配置されるセパレータ及び液体電解質と、
(iii)1つの表面上に蒸着されるカソードを有する第1基板を有する第1単極プレートであって、前記1つ以上のスタックの端部に配置される第1単極プレートと、
(iv)1つの表面上に蒸着されるアノードを有する第2基板を有する第2単極プレートであって、前記第1単極プレートに対して前記1つ以上のスタックの反対側の端部に配置される第2単極プレートと、
を備える複数の電極プレートの1つ以上のスタックと、
(b)前記電池アセンブリの端部に取り付けられる第1端部プレート内部補強構造体を有する第1端部プレートであって、一体構造体である第1端部プレートと、
(c)前記第1端部プレートに対して前記電池アセンブリの反対側の端部に取り付けられる第2端部プレート内部補強構造体を有する第2端部プレートであって、一体構造体である第2端部プレートと、
を備え、
前記第1端部プレートは、前記第1単極プレートに、第1複数の周辺取り付け機構で周辺に且つ第1複数の内側取り付け機構で前記周辺内の内面の周りに取り付けられ、
前記第2端部プレートは、前記第2単極プレートに、第2複数の周辺取り付け機構で周辺に且つ第2複数の内側取り付け機構で前記周辺内の内面の周りに取り付けられ、
前記第1端部プレート及び前記第2端部プレートは、充電サイクル、放電サイクル、又は前記充電サイクル及び前記放電サイクルの両方の間に前記複数の電極プレートを補強し、
前記第1端部プレート内部補強構造体は前記第1端部プレートの中に型成形され、前記第2端部プレート内部補強構造体は前記第2端部プレートの中に型成形され、
前記第1端部プレート及び前記第2端部プレートは、前記複数の電極プレートの内側への変形を防止するために、前記液体電解質で充填する前に5psiから30psiの真空排気中に前記複数の電極プレートを補強する、電池アセンブリ。 - 前記第1端部プレート内部補強構造体は、400ksi以上の剛性を有する前記第1端部プレートをもたらし、前記第2端部プレート内部補強構造体は、400ksi以上の剛性を有する前記第2端部プレートをもたらす、請求項1に記載の電池アセンブリ。
- 前記電池アセンブリが前記充電サイクル中に真空充填される場合、前記第1単極プレート及び前記第2単極プレートが実質的に変形することから防止されるように、前記第1端部プレートは前記第1単極プレートに取り付けられ、前記第2端部プレートは前記第2単極プレートに取り付けられる、請求項1又は2に記載の電池アセンブリ。
- 前記第1端部プレート内部補強構造体、前記第2端部プレート内部補強構造体、又はその両方は、1つ以上のリブ構造体を含む、請求項1〜3の何れか一項に記載の電池アセンブリ。
- 前記第1複数の周辺取り付け機構、前記第1複数の内側取り付け機構、前記第2複数の周辺取り付け機構、及び前記第2複数の内側取り付け機構は、接着材料、テープ、ヒートステーク、機械的ファスナー、又はそれらの組み合わせを含む、請求項1〜4の何れか一項に記載の電池アセンブリ。
- 前記第1複数の周辺取り付け機構及び前記第1複数の内側取り付け機構は、複数の第1ヒートステーク、複数の第1機械的ファスナー、又はその両方であり、第2複数の周辺取り付け機構及び第2複数の内側取り付け機構は、複数の第2ヒートステーク、複数の第2機械的ファスナー、又はその両方であり、
前記複数の第1ヒートステーク、前記複数の第1機械的ファスナー、又はその両方は、前記第1端部プレートの少なくとも2つ以上のリブ構造体の間に個別に配設され、前記複数の第2ヒートステーク、前記複数の第2機械的ファスナー、又はその両方は、前記第2端部プレートの少なくとも2つ以上のリブ構造体の間に個別に配設される、請求項1〜5の何れか一項に記載の電池アセンブリ。 - 前記第1複数の周辺取り付け機構は複数の第1機械的ファスナーであり、前記第2複数の周辺取り付け機構は複数の第2機械的ファスナーであり、
前記第1単極プレート、前記第2単極プレート、又は前記第1単極プレート及び前記第2単極プレートの両方が、前記第1機械的ファスナー、前記第2機械的ファスナー、又はその両方を受ける複数のナットを含む、請求項1〜6の何れか一項に記載の電池アセンブリ。 - 前記内面で前記第1端部プレートを前記第1単極プレートに取り付ける前記複数の第1機械的ファスナー、複数の第1ヒートステーク、又はそれらの組み合わせは、前記1つ以上の双極プレートの何れの中にも延在せず、
前記内面で前記第2端部プレートを前記第2単極プレートに取り付ける前記複数の第2機械的ファスナー、複数の第2ヒートステーク、又はそれらの組み合わせは、前記1つ以上の双極プレートの何れの中にも延在しない、請求項7に記載の電池アセンブリ。 - 前記複数の電極プレートの前記1つ以上のスタックは、電気化学セル内に組み立てられ、
前記1つ以上のスタックは、横断方向に互いに位置合わせされる前記1つ以上の双極プレート、前記第1単極プレート、前記第2単極プレート、前記セパレータ、前記第1端部プレート、及び前記第2端部プレートの各々に1つ以上の開口部を含み、前記1つ以上の開口部は、それに合わせて型成形され、一体化されたチャネルを形成するように位置合わせされるインサートを含み、前記セパレータにおける前記インサートは、前記チャネルと前記電気化学セルとの間を連通する通気孔を有する、請求項1〜8の何れか一項に記載の電池アセンブリ。 - 1つ以上のチャネルは、前記複数の電極プレート、前記第1端部プレート、前記第2端部プレート、及び前記液体電解質を貫通し、
前記1つ以上のチャネルの一部を形成する1つ以上の開口部は、前記第1端部プレート、前記第2端部プレート、又はその両方の前記内部補強構造体を貫通する、請求項9に記載の電池アセンブリ。 - 前記第1複数の内側取り付け機構及び前記第2複数の内側取り付け機構は各々、複数のヒートステークを含む、請求項1〜10の何れか一項に記載の電池アセンブリ。
- 前記第1複数の周辺取り付け機構及び前記第2複数の周辺取り付け機構は各々、複数のねじファスナーを含む、請求項1〜11の何れか一項に記載の電池アセンブリ。
- 前記1つ以上のリブ構造体は、格子、グリッド、及び/又はハニカムパターンの複数のリブ構造体を含む、請求項4に記載の電池アセンブリ。
- 前記第1端部プレート内部補強構造体、前記第2端部プレート内部補強構造体、又はその両方は、複数のリブ構造体を含み、
前記複数のリブ構造体のうちの1つ以上は、前記第1端部プレート、前記第2端部プレート、又はその両方の前記インサート及び/又は前記開口部と交差及び/又は合流する、請求項9に記載の電池アセンブリ。
