Description
図1〜図6に示されている本発明の一実施形態にかかるコネクタ10は、所定の電子回路が形成された印刷配線基板Pに実装されて使用されるものであって、絶縁性を有する樹脂材からなるハウジング11をコア体として備えている。そのハウジング11には、金属製の帯状部材からなるコンタクト部材12が多極状をなすように取り付けられているとともに、それらのハウジング11及びコンタクト部材12が、金属製の中空の筒状体からなる導電性シェル13によって外方側から覆われた構成になされている。
上述したハウジング11は、ブロック状をなすハウジング本体部11aと、そのハウジング本体部11aから突出する平板状のハウジング突部11bとを備えており、ハウジング11における「コネクタ後方側」に配置されたハウジング本体部11aから、上述したハウジング突部11bが「コネクタ前方側」に向かって突出する配置関係になされている。
また、ハウジング11に取り付けられているコンタクト部材12は、上述したハウジング本体部11aからハウジング突部11bにかけて延在する帯板状部材から形成されている。ここで、印刷配線基板Pの実装表面から垂直に離れる高さ方向を「上方向」、その反対の印刷配線基板Pの実装表面に向かって近付く方向を「下方向」としたとき、上述したコンタクト部材12は、上下方向において2段のものが重なり合うように対向する配置関係になされている。
一方、上述した導電性シェル13は、ハウジング11及びコンタクト部材12の全体を外方側から覆う中空筒状部材から形成されているが、「コネクタ前後方向」における両端部に、「コネクタ幅方向」に横長状をなす開口部がそれぞれ設けられている。それらの両開口部は、「コネクタ前方側」及び「コネクタ後方側」にそれぞれ向かって開放状態になされた構成になされている。
一方、上述したハウジング11の内部には、図7に示すように金属製の平板状部材からなるグランドプレート14が埋設された状態で配置されている。このグランドプレート14は、上述したハウジング11のハウジング本体部11aからハウジング突部11bにかけて、下降する傾斜段差部を介して延在しており、上述したコンタクト部材12が多極状に配列された領域の全範囲にわたって延在している。そして、このグランドプレート14の表裏(上下)両面に沿うようにしてコンタクト部材12が上下2段にわたって配置されている。
ここで、前述したように2段にわたって配置された上下のコンタクト部材12,12は、グランドプレート14及びハウジング11を挟んで上下に近接した状態で対向配置されているが、それら上下のコンタクト部材12,12同士の間部分に薄厚状に形成されたコンタクト対向領域には、ハウジング11のハウジング突部11b及びハウジング本体部11aの一部分が配置されている。このコンタクト対向領域の内部に配置されたハウジング11のハウジング突部11b及びハウジング本体部11aの一部分は、グランドプレート14に当接しているとともに、コンタクト部材12に当接した状態に配置されている。
このように、コンタクト保持体11b1及びコンタクト補助保持体11a1によってコンタクト部材12が保持された状態では、射出成型金型を用いたインサート成形方法が好適に採用される。

Claims (5)
- 互いに対向した状態に配置された導電性のコンタクト部材が、絶縁性のハウジングに取り付けられたものであって、
前記対向配置されたコンタクト部材同士の間部分におけるコンタクト対向領域に、前記ハウジングの一部分からなり前記コンタクト部材と当接することで前記コンタクト部材を保持するコンタクト保持体が配置された電気コネクタにおいて、
前記コンタクト保持体が、前記コンタクト対向領域における一部の領域に配置されているとともに、前記コンタクト対向領域の他の領域には、前記ハウジングの他の部分が、前記コンタクト保持体とは別個の部材として配置されている一方、
前記コンタクト保持体の内部に金属部材が配置され、当該金属部材の対向する両側表面の各々に前記コンタクト保持体が配置されたものであって、
前記金属部材の対向する両側表面の各々に配置された前記コンタクト保持体が、前記金属部材に設けられた貫通穴を通して連結されていることを特徴とする電気コネクタ。 - 互いに対向した状態に配置した導電性のコンタクト部材を、絶縁性のハウジングに取り付ける方法であって、
前記対向配置したコンタクト部材同士の間部分におけるコンタクト対向領域に、ハウジングの一部分からなり前記コンタクト部材と当接することで前記コンタクト部材を保持するコンタクト保持体を配置する電気コネクタの製造方法において、
前記ハウジングに、前記コンタクト部材を対向した状態に配置して取り付けるにあたって、予め、前記コンタクト保持体を樹脂材で成形しておき、
その予め成形した前記コンタクト保持体を、金属部材の対向する両側表面の各々に配置し、前記コンタクト対向領域の一部に前記コンタクト保持体を配置することで、当該コンタクト保持体により前記コンタクト部材を対向した状態に保持し、
その後に、前記コンタクト対向領域における前記コンタクト保持体以外の他の部分を、樹脂材にて一体に成形することにより、前記金属部材の対向する両側表面の各々に配置した前記コンタクト保持体を、前記金属部材に設けた貫通穴を通して連結させることを特徴とする電気コネクタの製造方法。 - 前記ハウジングが、ハウジング本体部と、そのハウジング本体部から突出して相手コネクタに嵌合されるハウジング突部と、を有するものであって、
前記コンタクト保持体が、前記ハウジング突部に相当する位置において前記コンタクト部材を保持した状態に配置され、
当該コンタクト保持体における前記コンタクト部材を保持する表面が、前記コンタクト部材よりも幅広の平坦面からなることを特徴とする請求項1記載の電気コネクタ。 - 前記コンタクト対向領域には、前記ハウジング本体部に相当する位置に前記コンタクト部材を保持するコンタクト保持補助体が配置され、
当該コンタクト保持補助体には、前記コンタクト部材を収容可能な凹溝が設けられていることを特徴とする請求項3記載の電気コネクタ。 - 前記コンタクト部材が、多極状に配列されていることを特徴とする請求項1記載の電気コネクタ。
