Claims (10)
- ガラスシートを製造する方法において、
(I)対向するエッジと、延伸方向を横切る横方向に沿って前記対向するエッジ間に延在する、横方向部分とを有するガラスリボンを、前記延伸方向に沿って、成形ウェッジの底部から下流の粘性ゾーン内へとフュージョンドローするステップ、
(II)前記ガラスリボンを前記粘性ゾーンから下流の硬化ゾーン内へと延伸するステップであって、前記ガラスリボンが、粘性状態から弾性状態に硬化するステップ、
(III)前記ガラスリボンを前記硬化ゾーンから下流の弾性ゾーン内へと延伸するステップ、
(IV)前記ガラスリボンの前記横方向部分の全体を前記弾性ゾーン内において割断装置のアンビル部分に係合させるよう、真空を生成するステップであって、このとき前記真空が、互いに独立して動作する複数の圧力ゾーンにより提供され、前記圧力ゾーンの夫々が吸着カップの組を備えており、さらに前記吸着カップの夫々の吸着エリアが、対応する前記圧力ゾーンと流体連通している、ステップ、
(V)前記弾性ゾーン内において、前記ガラスリボンの前記横方向部分に沿って罫書き線を形成するステップ、および、
(VI)前記横方向部分の全体が前記真空によって前記アンビル部分に押し付けられている間に、前記ガラスリボンから前記罫書き線に沿って前記ガラスシートを割断して取り外すステップ、
を有してなる方法。 - 前記複数の圧力ゾーンが、少なくとも1つの側部圧力ゾーン対がまたがっている、少なくとも1つの中心圧力ゾーンを含み、前記ガラスシートを割断して取り外すステップの後、前記側部圧力ゾーン対が前記横方向部分の側部エリアを解除し始める前に、前記中心圧力ゾーンからの真空力を減少させて、前記横方向部分の中心エリアを解除し始めることを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記ガラスシートを割断して取り外すステップの後に、前記中心圧力ゾーンで正圧をかけて前記中心エリアを前記アンビル部分から離れさせることを特徴とする請求項2記載の方法。
- 前記ガラスリボンが前記アンビル部分に係合するときに、前記複数の圧力ゾーンが独立して調節されることを特徴とする請求項1から3いずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記ガラスリボンを、前記横方向において非直線状の外形で硬化するステップと、押圧機器を用いて前記ガラスリボンの前記横方向部分を、前記アンビル部分に押し付けて平坦にするステップとをさらに含み、その後、前記ガラスシートを前記ガラスリボンから割断して取り外す前に、前記ガラスリボンが前記非直線状の外形に戻るのを前記真空によって防ぐことを特徴とする請求項1から4いずれか1項記載の方法。
- ガラスリボン割断装置において、
前記ガラスリボンの主表面に係合するように構成された係合面を備えた、アンビル部分、
互いに独立して動作するように構成された複数の圧力ゾーンであって、前記圧力ゾーンの夫々が吸着カップの組を備え、かつ前記吸着カップ夫々の吸着エリアが、対応する前記圧力ゾーンに流体連通している、複数の圧力ゾーン、
を備え、前記吸着カップが前記ガラスリボンの表面に係合して、前記吸着カップの夫々の前記吸着エリアが、対応する前記圧力ゾーンの動作によって少なくとも部分的に真空吸引されて、前記ガラスリボンを前記アンビル部分に引き寄せるように構成されていることを特徴とする装置。 - 前記アンビル部分が弾性材料を備えていることを特徴とする請求項6記載の装置。
- 前記吸着カップ夫々の一部分が、前記アンビル部分の前記係合面を越えて延在していることを特徴とする請求項6または7記載の装置。
- 前記吸着カップの係合面が、前記アンビル部分の前記係合面を、約0.5mmから約1mmの範囲の距離だけ越えて延在していることを特徴とする請求項8記載の装置。
- 前記吸着カップの係合面が前記アンビル部分の前記係合面と同一平面上になるように、前記吸着カップ夫々の一部分が潰れるように構成されていることを特徴とする、請求項6から9いずれか1項記載の装置。
