Description
従来の転相乳化(PIE)を用いて調製したような乳化凝集トナーの元々の粒径および粒度分布を示すために、この比較例をコントロールとして行った。
本実施形態の磁気によって発動する混合を用い、この実施例を調製した。10gのアモルファスポリエステル樹脂1(Mw=44120、開始Tg=56.8℃)を、室温で攪拌しつつ、20gのメチルエチルケトンおよび2gのイソプロピルアルコール溶媒混合物に溶解した。この混合物1.62gを、0.5gのマイクロ磁気粒子(Royalink Industries Corp.製のCarbonyl Iron Powder、平均粒径が約4〜5μm)とともに10mlガラスバイアルに移した。次いで、10wt%のNH3・H2O溶液0.017グラムを加え、樹脂を中和した。次いで、この混合物に、15,000ガウスの永久磁石をバイアルの隣に約1分間置くことによって、磁気粒子によって混合した。この混合物に、磁気粒子で混合しつつ、一定間隔でDIW約1.5グラムを滴下した。平均粒径は、図6に示すように約125nmである。
従来の方法を用いて調製したラテックスの元々の粒径を示すために、この比較例もコントロールとして行った。
この実施例も、本実施形態の磁気によって発動する混合を用いて調製した。
Claims (16)
- ラテックス粒子を調整するために1つ以上の材料を混合する方法であって、
(a)容器中で、樹脂と有機溶媒、界面活性剤、中和剤を接触させ、この容器内で樹脂組成物を作成することと;
(b)この容器中で、前記樹脂組成物と、脱イオン水(DIW)とを接触させることと;
(c)この容器に粒子直径が約5nm〜約50μmである磁気粒子を加えることと;

- 前記樹脂は、ポリエステルである、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記ラテックスまたはエマルションは、粒径が約5nm〜約1,000nmの単一分布を有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記中和剤は、水酸化アンモニウム、炭酸ナトリウム、水酸化カリウム、水酸化ナトリウム、炭酸水素ナトリウム、水酸化リチウム、炭酸カリウム、トリエチルアミン、トリエタノールアミン、ピリジン、ピリジン誘導体、ジフェニルアミン、ジフェニルアミン誘導体、ポリ(エチレンアミン)、ポリ(エチレンアミン)誘導体、アミン塩基、ピペラジン、およびこれらの混合物からなる群から選択される、請求項1に記載の方法。
- その後に、再使用するために磁気粒子を集めることを更に含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記磁気粒子は、常磁性、フェリ磁性、強磁性または反強磁性の材料で構成される、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記磁気粒子は、非磁性のコーティングを有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記変動磁場は、強度が約500ガウス〜約20,000ガウスである、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記変動磁場が1つ以上の電磁石を介して加えられる、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記変動磁場は、環状に、上下に、左右に、または三角形の動きで磁気粒子を動かすように加えられる、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記変動磁場は、永久磁石を動かすことによって加えられる、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 望ましいラテックスの粒径は、約5nm〜約1,000nmである、請求項1に記載の方法。
- トナー粒子を調製するために1つ以上の材料を混合する方法であって、
(a)容器中で、樹脂と有機溶媒、中和剤とを接触させ、この容器内で樹脂組成物を作成することと;
(b)この容器中で、前記樹脂組成物と、脱イオン水(DIW)とを接触させることと;
(c)この容器に粒子直径が約5nm〜約50μmである磁気粒子を加えることと;
(d)この磁気粒子に磁場を加え、磁気粒子を移動させ、この容器内で樹脂組成物を混合し、ラテックスまたはエマルションを作成することと;
(e)ラテックスまたはエマルションを含むプレトナー組成物から粒子を凝集させることと;
(f)凝集粒子を融着させ、トナー粒子を作成することとを含む、方法
