切断速度の実験
1.94マイクロメートル波長で作動するフラッシュ組織蒸発ベースのレーザシステムを製造及び使用して生体外組織切断試験が行われた。使用したされたパルスエネルギは、ほぼ3.5mJであり、シリカベースの光ファイバ導波管を通じて送出し、パルス繰返し数は、400Hzであった。ファイバ先端をマウントに位置決めして固定した位置に保持した。豚の腎臓組織サンプルを有する移動可能な試験スタンドをファイバ先端の直前のビームを通じて移動した。組織サンプルの大体の長さは、2cmで、厚みはほぼ2mmであった。フラッシュ蒸発システムは、8秒でサンプル全体を断ち切った。システムは、毎秒長さ2.5mm×深さ2mmの切り込みを入れた。パルス当たりに除去された組織の容積は、6.28xl0-7cm3/パルスであった。この切断速度は、従来技術レーザシステムより飛躍的に高速である。例えば、隣接熱損傷なしのモードで作動するように最適化された流束量と共に類似のパルス繰返し数及び入射光スポットサイズを有するエキシマレーザシステムは、200倍の遅さである3.14x10-9cm3/パルスの速度が得られる。同様に、隣接熱損傷なしのモードで作動するように最適化された流束量と共に類似のパルス繰返し数及び入射光スポットサイズを有する光破砕ベースのエルビウムYAGシステムは、40倍の速度である、1.57x10-8cm3/パルスのパルス当たりに除去される容積が得られる。隣接熱損傷なしの切除に向けて最適化された流束量と共に類似のパルス繰返し数及び入射光スポットサイズを有する精力的な研究本位のフェムト秒システムは、同様に、40倍以上の遅さである、1.49x10-8cm3/パルスの速度が得られる。図6は、実質的に隣接組織損傷がない様々な形態の切除に関して切断速度を比較する棒グラフを示している。光化学、光破砕及びイオン化ベースのシステムは、一般的な手術用途のための適するファイバ送出手段を持たず、一般的に高低線送出に限定される。

Claims (26)
- 洞手術に向けて組織を治療する装置であって、

前記レーザから組織上のスポットにパルスを送出するために該レーザに結合された導波管と、
前記レーザが、組織の容積がスピノーダル分解を用いて放出されるようにある一定の容積の組織を前記スポットで照射するための波長とパルス当たりのエネルギとを有し、前記レーザパルスが、該容積からの応力及び熱エネルギ伝播を抑制するのに十分に短い持続時間を有する作動モードを有効にするユーザ入力を有する該レーザシステムに結合されたコントローラと、
