Description
本願は、米国仮特許出願第61/587,260号(2012年1月17日出願)、米国仮特許出願第61/728,940号(2012年11月21日出願)、米国仮特許出願第61/773,031号(2012年12月4日出願)に基づく優先権、および利益を主張する。上記出願の各々は、全体が本明細書に記載されたかのように参照により本明細書に引用される。
本発明は、概して、電気活性光学系において使用するための可撓性薄膜に関する。本発明の実施形態は、膜の少なくとも1つの表面上に回折構造を有する薄膜、およびそのような膜を作製する方法を含む。本発明の実施形態はまた、そのような薄膜を備えている、レンズ素材を含む。本発明の実施形態はまた、そのような薄膜を備えている、レンズ素材を作製する方法を含む。
Claims (18)
- 湾曲基板と、表面起伏特徴を有する膜と、前記膜及び前記湾曲基板の間に配置される光学的な電気活性材料とを備える電気活性システムを作製する方法であって、
(a)第1の表面を有する第1の基板を提供することであって、前記第1の基板は、水溶性固体材料から成る、ことと、
(b)第1の表面を有する第2の基板を提供することであって、前記第2の基板は、固体材料から成り、前記第2の基板の第1の表面は、1つ以上の起伏構造を備えている、ことと、
(c)硬化性液体材料を提供することと、
(d)前記硬化性液体材料を前記第1の基板の第1の表面と前記第2の基板の第1の表面との間に配置することであって、前記第1の基板の第1の表面および前記第2の基板の第1の表面は、互に隣接している、ことと、
(e)前記硬化性液体材料を硬化させ、ポリマー膜を前記第1の基板の第1の表面と前記第2の基板の第1の表面との間に形成する、ことと、
(f)前記第1の基板を表面起伏特徴を有するポリマー膜から除去することと、
(g)湾曲基板に前記表面起伏特徴を有するポリマー膜を固定する、ことと、
(h)前記湾曲基板及び前記表面起伏特徴を有するポリマー膜が形成する空間に電気活性材料を配置する、ことと
を含む、
方法。 - 前記空間は、前記湾曲基板及び前記表面起伏特徴を有するポリマー膜により密閉された空間である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記電気活性材料は、前記表面起伏特徴を有するポリマー膜の注入部位を介して、前記空間に注入される、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記水溶性固体材料は、水溶性ポリマーを備えている、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記水溶性ポリマーは、ポリビニルアルコール、ポリアクリルアミド、ポリアクリル酸、ポリイソシアネート、澱粉、またはセルロースを備えている、請求項4に記載の方法。
- 前記第1の基板の第1の表面及び前記第2の基板の第1の表面は、湾曲表面である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記第1の基板の第1の表面の曲率半径は、前記第2の基板の第1の表面の曲率半径の15%以内である、請求項6に記載の方法。
- 前記第1の基板の第1の表面は凸状表面であり、前記第2の基板の第1の表面は凹状表面である、請求項6に記載の方法。
- 前記硬化性液体材料は、光硬化性材料または熱硬化性材料である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記1つ以上の起伏構造は、反転回折構造である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記1つ以上の起伏構造は、1nm〜500μmの範囲の高さを有する、請求項10に記載の方法。
- 前記第2の基板の第1の表面は、複数の起伏構造を備え、1つ以上の隣接している対の起伏構造は、1nm〜500μmの範囲の距離だけ分離されている、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記硬化性液体材料を前記第1の基板の第1の表面と前記第2の基板の第1の表面との間に配置することは、1μm〜1mmの距離だけ、前記第1の基板の第1の表面を前記第2の基板の第1の表面から分離することを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 水性媒体により前記第1の基板が前記ポリマー膜から除去されることを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- (g)前記ポリマー膜を前記第2の基板から除去することをさらに含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマー膜は、
湾曲した第1の表面と、
1つ以上の起伏構造を備え、前記湾曲した第1の表面と反対側に配置されている湾曲した第2の表面と、を備え、
前記湾曲した第1の表面は、凹状であり、前記湾曲した第2の表面は、凸状であり、前記湾曲した第1の表面の曲率半径は、前記湾曲した第2の表面の曲率半径の15%以内である、請求項1乃至請求項15のいずれか一項に記載の方法。 - 凹状表面および前記凹状表面と反対側にある凸状表面を有する湾曲基板を提供することを含み、
前記ポリマー膜の前記湾曲した第2の表面が、前記湾曲基板の凹状表面に面するように、前記湾曲基板の凹状表面上に配置されている、請求項16に記載の方法。 - 凹状表面および前記凹状表面と反対側にある凸状表面を有する湾曲基板を提供することを含み、
前記ポリマー膜の前記湾曲した第2の表面が、前記湾曲基板の凹状表面に面するように、前記湾曲基板の凹状表面上に配置されている、請求項16に記載の方法。
