を特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の表示デバイス。 - 多層フィルム体の形の表示デバイスであって、該表示デバイスが、第一のエリアにおいて、第一の電極と、第二の電極と、第三の電極と、表示材料を備える表示層と、を有し、前記表示層が、前記第一の電極と前記第二の電極との間に配置され、前記第三の電極が、前記表示層の前記第一の電極から離れた側に配置され、前記第一の電極の全ての側面を誘電体層により囲むことにより、前記第一の電極が絶縁された電極として形成され、前記表示層により広がる面に垂直に観察した場合、前記第一の電極が、前記第二の電極及び前記第三の電極の双方と、少なくとも部分的に重なり、
前記第二の電極が、前記第一のエリアにおいて、モチーフの形で形成され、前記第三の電極が、表示層により広がる面に垂直に観察される場合、少なくとも前記モチーフの背景エリアにおいて備えられ、その結果、前記第二及び第三の電極に印加される電圧の極性が変化すると、前記モチーフの反転表示がもたらされ、

を特徴とする請求項6に記載の表示デバイス。 - 前記第一及び第二の電極間の距離と、前記第一及び第三の電極間の距離と、前記第二及び第三の電極間の距離とが、c12を前記第一の電極と第二の電極との間のキャパシタンス、c13を前記第一の電極と第三の電極との間のキャパシタンス、c23を前記第二の電極と第三の電極との間のキャパシタンスとした場合、c23が、1/(1/c12+1/c13)より小さいように選択され、及び/または、前記第三の電極が、前記第二の電極のエリアにおいて、凹部を有し、前記第一の電極と前記第三の電極との間の距離が、前記第二の電極のエリアにおいて、前記第三の電極が備えられ前記第二の電極が備えられないエリアよりも大きく、d1を前記第一の電極と前記第二の電極との間の距離、d2を前記第一の電極と前記第三の電極の凸部との間の距離、d3を前記第一の電極と前記第三の電極の前記凹部との間の距離とした場合、d1が略d2と等しく、d3がd2よりはるかに大きいこと、
