Description
本実施の形態におけるカルバゾール化合物は、ジベンゾフラン骨格もしくはジベンゾチオフェン骨格の2位がカルバゾール骨格の3位に結合したカルバゾリル基の窒素が、アントラセン骨格の9位または10位に直接又はフェニレン基を介して結合したカルバゾール化合物である。このカルバゾール化合物において、アントラセン骨格及びジベンゾフラン骨格もしくはジベンゾチオフェン骨格は置換基を有していても良く、これらが置換基を有する場合、当該置換基としてはそれぞれ独立に炭素数1乃至6のアルキル基、炭素数6乃至13のアリール基のいずれかを選択することができる。
続いて、本実施の形態では、一般式(G1)で表されるカルバゾール化合物の合成方法について説明する。カルバゾール化合物の合成方法としては種々の反応を適用することができる。例えば、以下に示す合成反応を行うことによって、一般式(G1)で表されるカルバゾール化合物を合成することができる。
実施の形態1に記載のカルバゾール化合物(G1)は、下記合成スキーム(A−1)のように合成することができる。すなわち、アントラセン誘導体のハロゲン化物(化合物A)と、カルバゾール誘導体(化合物B)とを、塩基存在下で金属触媒、金属、または金属化合物によりカップリングさせることにより、本実施の形態で示すカルバゾール化合物(G1)を得る。
実施の形態1に記載のカルバゾール化合物(G1)は、nが1である場合、下記合成スキーム(A−2)のようにも合成することができる。すなわち、アントラセン誘導体のハロゲン化物(化合物C)と、カルバゾール化合物(化合物D)の有機ホウ素化合物とを、パラジウム触媒を用いた鈴木・宮浦反応によりカップリングすることで、一般式(G1)で表されるカルバゾール化合物を得ることができる。
本実施の形態では、実施の形態1に記載のカルバゾール化合物を有機半導体素子の一種である縦型トランジスタ(SIT)の活性層として用いる形態を例示する。
本実施の形態では実施の形態1に示したカルバゾール化合物を用いた発光素子の一態様について図1(A)を用いて以下に説明する。
本実施の形態は、複数の発光ユニットを積層した構成の発光素子(以下、積層型素子ともいう)の態様について、図1(B)を参照して説明する。この発光素子は、第1の電極と第2の電極との間に、複数の発光ユニットを有する発光素子である。発光ユニットとしては、実施の形態4で示した有機化合物を含む層103と同様な構成を用いることができる。つまり、実施の形態4で示した発光素子は、1つの発光ユニットを有する発光素子であり、本実施の形態では、複数の発光ユニットを有する発光素子ということができる。
本実施の形態では、実施の形態1に記載のカルバゾール化合物を含む発光素子を用いた発光装置について説明する。
本実施の形態では、実施の形態6に示す発光装置をその一部に含む電子機器について説明する。実施の形態6に記載の発光装置は、実施の形態1に記載のカルバゾール化合物を含む発光素子を含むことから、消費電力が低減された発光装置であり、その結果、本実施の形態に記載の電子機器は、消費電力が低減された表示部を有する電子機器とすることが可能である。また、駆動電圧の小さい電子機器とすることが可能である。また、信頼性の高い電子機器とすることが可能である。
本実施例では実施の形態1に示したカルバゾール化合物である、3−(ジベンゾフラン−2−イル)−9−[4−(10−フェニル−9−アントリル)フェニル]−9H−カルバゾール(略称:FrCPA)の合成方法について説明する。FrCPAの構造を下記構造式に示す。
500mL三口フラスコ中で、ジベンゾフラン8.4g(50mmol)、ヨウ素6.2g(25mmol)、オルト過よう素酸5.7g(25mmol)、氷酢酸150mL、水30mL、硫酸500μLの懸濁液を、60℃にて4.5時間加熱撹拌した後、16時間室温で撹拌した。生じた析出物をろ取し、このろ物をトルエン150mLに溶かしてトルエン溶液を作製し、このトルエン溶液を水にて3回洗浄した。洗浄後のトルエン溶液に硫酸マグネシウムを加えて水分を吸着させた。これをろ過し、得られたろ液を濃縮した後、ヘキサンを加えて超音波を照射し再結晶を行ったところ、白色粉末の目的物を11.3g、収率77%で得た。ステップ1の合成スキームを(a−1)に示す。
500mLの三口フラスコに5.0g(17mmol)の2−ヨードジベンゾフランを入れ、フラスコ内を窒素置換した。このフラスコに150mLのテトラヒドロフラン(THF)を加えて、この溶液を−80℃に冷却した。この溶液に13mL(20mmol)のn−ブチルリチウム(1.6mol/Lヘキサン溶液)を、シリンジにより滴下して加えた。滴下終了後、溶液を同温度で1時間攪拌した。攪拌後、この溶液へ2.8mL(25mmol)のホウ酸トリメチルを加え、室温に戻しながら15時間攪拌した。攪拌後、この溶液に約50mLの希塩酸(1.0mol/L)を加えて、1時間攪拌した。攪拌後、この混合物の水層を酢酸エチルで抽出し、抽出溶液と有機層を合わせて、飽和炭酸水素ナトリウム水溶液と飽和食塩水で洗浄した。有機層を硫酸マグネシウムにより乾燥し、乾燥後、この混合物を自然ろ過した。得られたろ液を濃縮したところ、淡褐色固体を得た。この固体をトルエン/ヘキサンで再結晶したところ、目的物の白色粉末を2.0g、収率55%で得た。ステップ2の合成スキームを(a−2)に示す。
300mL三口フラスコに2.3g(9.4mmol)の3−ブロモ−9H−カルバゾールと、2.0g(9.4mmol)のジベンゾフラン−2−ボロン酸と、0.42g(1.4mmol)のトリス(2−メチルフェニル)ホスフィンを入れた。この混合物に30mLのエタノールと、50mLのトルエンと、10mLの炭酸カリウム水溶液(2.0mol/L)を加えた。この混合物を減圧しながら攪拌することで脱気した。この混合物に63mg(0.28mmol)の酢酸パラジウム(II)を加えた。この混合物を90℃で5時間攪拌し、室温まで冷却してから15時間放置したところ、褐色固体が析出した。析出した固体を吸引ろ過して回収した。回収した固体を約30mLの熱したトルエンに溶解し、この溶液をセライト(和光純薬工業株式会社、カタログ番号:531−16855)、アルミナ、フロリジール(和光純薬工業株式会社、カタログ番号:540−00135)を通して吸引ろ過した。得られたろ液を濃縮して白色固体を得た。この固体をトルエン/ヘキサンで再結晶したところ、白色粉末を0.87g、収率27%で得た。ステップ3の合成スキームを(a−3)に示す。
200mL三口フラスコに1.0g(2.6mmol)の9−(4−ブロモフェニル)−10−フェニルアントラセンと、0.86g(2.6mmol)の3−(ジベンゾフラン−2−イル)−9H−カルバゾールと、0.50g(5.2mmol)のナトリウム tert−ブトキシドを入れた。このフラスコ内を窒素置換した後、50mLのトルエンと、0.20mLのトリ(tert−ブチル)ホスフィン(10wt%ヘキサン溶液)を加えた。この混合物を減圧しながら攪拌することで脱気した後、この混合物に75mg(0.13mmol)のビス(ジベンジリデンアセトン)パラジウム(0)を加えた。この混合物を窒素気流下、110℃で2時間攪拌した。攪拌後、この混合物をセライト、アルミナ、フロリジールを通して吸引ろ過した。得られたろ液を濃縮して淡黄色油状物を得た。この油状物をトルエン/ヘキサンにより再結晶したところ、淡黄色粉末を1.4g、収率80%で得た。ステップ4の合成スキームを(a−4)に示す。
まず、第1の電極102として110nmの膜厚でケイ素を含むインジウム錫酸化物(ITSO)が成膜されたガラス基板101を用意した。ITSO表面は、2mm角の大きさで表面が露出するよう周辺をポリイミド膜で覆い、電極面積は2mm×2mmとした。この基板上に発光素子を形成するための前処理として、基板表面を水で洗浄し、200℃で1時間焼成した後、UVオゾン処理を370秒行った。その後、10−4Pa程度まで内部が減圧された真空蒸着装置に基板を導入し、真空蒸着装置内の加熱室において170℃で30分間の真空焼成を行った後、基板を30分程度放冷した。
以上により得られた発光素子1及び比較素子1を、窒素雰囲気のグローブボックス内において、発光素子が大気に曝されないように封止する作業を行った後、これらの発光素子の動作特性について測定を行った。なお、測定は室温(25℃に保たれた雰囲気)で行った。なお、発光素子1及び比較素子1は、同一基板上に形成しており、発光層113以外は同一工程で形成している。
上記実施例で用いたN,N’−ビス〔4−(9−フェニル−9H−フルオレン−9−イル)フェニル〕−N,N’−ジフェニル−ピレン−1,6−ジアミン(略称:1,6FLPAPrn)(構造式(vi))の合成方法について具体的に説明する。1,6FLPAPrnの構造を以下に示す。
100mL三口フラスコにて、マグネシウムを1.2g(50mmol)減圧下で30分加熱撹拌し、マグネシウムを活性化させた。これを室温に冷まして窒素雰囲気にした後、ジブロモエタン数滴を加えて発泡、発熱するのを確認した。ここにジエチルエーテル10mL中に溶かした2−ブロモビフェニル12g(50mmol)をゆっくり滴下した後、2.5時間撹拌してグリニヤール試薬とした。
9−(4−ブロモフェニル)−9−フェニルフルオレン5.8g(14.6mmol)、アニリン1.7mL(18.6mmol)、ナトリウム tert−ブトキシド4.2g(44.0mmol)を200mL三口フラスコに入れ、フラスコ内を窒素置換した。この混合物にトルエン147.0mLとトリ(tert−ブチル)ホスフィンの10%ヘキサン溶液0.4mLを加えた。この混合物を60℃にし、ビス(ジベンジリデンアセトン)パラジウム(0)66.1mg(0.1mmol)を加え3.5時間攪拌した。攪拌後、フロリジール(和光純薬工業株式会社、カタログ番号:540−00135)、セライト(和光純薬工業株式会社、カタログ番号:531−16855)、アルミナを通して吸引ろ過し、ろ液を得た。得られたろ液を濃縮した。得られたろ液を濃縮し得た固体を、シリカゲルカラムクロマトグラフィー(展開溶媒はヘキサン:トルエン=2:1)により精製し、得られたフラクションを濃縮し、目的物の白色固体6.0gを収率99%で得た。上記ステップ2の合成スキームを下記(E1−2)に示す。
1,6−ジブロモピレン0.4g(1.2mmol)、参考例1のステップ2で得た4−(9−フェニル−9H−フルオレン−9−イル)ジフェニルアミン(略称:FLPA)1.0g(2.4mmol)、ナトリウム tert−ブトキシド0.3g(3.6mmol)を50mL三口フラスコに入れ、フラスコ内を窒素置換した。この混合物にトルエン11.5mLとトリ(tert−ブチル)ホスフィンの10%ヘキサン溶液0.20mLを加えた。この混合物を70℃にし、ビス(ジベンジリデンアセトン)パラジウム(0)31.1mg(0.05mmol)を加え4.0時間攪拌した。攪拌後、フロリジール、セライト、アルミナを通して吸引ろ過し、ろ液を得た。得られたろ液を濃縮した。得られたろ液を濃縮し得た固体を、シリカゲルカラムクロマトグラフィー(展開溶媒はクロロホルム)により精製し、得られたフラクションを濃縮し、黄色固体を得た。得られた固体を、トルエンとヘキサンの混合溶媒により洗浄した後、吸引ろ過をおこない黄色固体を得た。得られた黄色固体をクロロホルムとヘキサンの混合溶媒で洗浄したところ、淡黄色粉末状固体0.8gを、収率68%で得た。
