Iedge=Icenter/(1+R)
ここで、Icenterは少なくとも1つの反射板に隣接しない同色の光源の平均強度であり、Rは反射板の反射率である。したがって、発明者は、反射板の反射率を考慮することにより端部光源の強度を好適に調整できるという洞察に達した。上記したように、反射板が完全ミラーである場合、すなわち反射率が100%の場合、Iedge=Icenter/2である。反射板の反射率は100%でなくてもよく、かかるずれは補償され得ることを理解されたい。

ここで、Icenterは列の端に配置されていない同色の光源の平均強度である。したがって、この実施形態は、光源が水平な列に沿って配置されている場合、反射板が端部光源と同じ「水平位置」に配置される例に対応する。この場合、端部光源からの発光の半分が反射板によって反射されない可能性がある、すなわち、発光の半分のみが反射板を「見て」、反射板によって反射される。したがって、発光の半分は反射板内の仮想光と結合して、中央光源と同じ強度の単一の光源となり、これは、仮想及び実際の光源の無限アレイの形成を容易にする。言い換えれば、アレイが水平な列として配置される場合、ミラーは端部光源の「上方」に配置され得るという事実から、端部光源から発せられる光の半分のみがシステム内に反射され、他の半分が失われ得る、すなわち、「実際の」IedgeはやはりIcenterの半分であり得る。

ここで、Gは強度Gの緑色光、Pは強度Pの紫色光、G*は強度Gの反射緑色光、P*は強度Pの反射紫色光を表す。したがって、中央緑色LEDの強度の半分の端部緑色LED(1/2G)は、自身のミラー光(1/2G*)と合わせて強度Gの緑色光、すなわち上記パターンにおける(1/2G*+1/2G)として視認される。同様に、中央紫色LEDの半分の強度の端部紫色LED(1/2P)は、自身のミラー光(1/2P*)と合わせて強度Pの紫色LED、すなわち上記パターンにおける(1/2P+1/2P*)として視認される。
Claims (14)
- −第1及び第2の光源が交互に並ぶ光源のアレイであって、前記第1の光源は第1の色の光を発し、前記第2の光源は第2の色の光を発する、当該光源のアレイと、
−前記光源のアレイの端部に沿って配置される少なくとも1つの反射板と
を含み、
前記少なくとも1つの反射板に隣接する少なくとも1つの光源、及び当該少なくとも1つの光源の前記反射板内の虚像の結合強度は、前記少なくとも1つの反射板に隣接しない同色の前記光源の平均強度の約80〜120%である、発光デバイス。 - 前記少なくとも1つの反射板は、前記光源のアレイにほぼ垂直に配置される、請求項1に記載の発光デバイス。
- Iedgeによって表される、前記反射板に隣接する前記光源の強度は、次の式によって求められ、

ここで、Icenterは前記少なくとも1つの反射板に隣接しない同色の前記光源の平均強度であり、Rは前記反射板の反射率である、請求項1又は2に記載の発光デバイス。 - 前記光源のアレイは、光源の一次元列である、請求項1乃至3のいずれか一項に記載の発光デバイス。
- 前記反射板は、前記光源の列を通過する仮想の軸上のある位置から、前記光源の列にほぼ垂直に延び、前記ある位置は、前記光源の列の端に配置された1つの光源の中心の位置とほぼ同じ前記軸上の位置であり、
Iedgeによって表される、前記列の端に配置された前記光源の強度は、次の式によって表され、

ここで、Icenterは前記列の前記端に配置されていない同色の前記光源の平均強度である、請求項4に記載の発光デバイス。 - 前記少なくとも1つの反射板から前記反射板に隣接する前記少なくとも1つの光源の端までの距離はdによって表され、

であり、ここで、pは、第1の光源の中心と前記第1の光源に隣接する第2の光源の中心との間の距離である、請求項1乃至5のいずれか一項に記載の発光デバイス。 - 前記光源のアレイは光源の二次元アレイである、請求項1乃至3のいずれか一項、又は請求項1乃至3のいずれか一項に従属する請求項6に記載の発光デバイス。
- −前記光源のアレイの少なくとも第1の外側列に沿って延びる、反射率R1の少なくとも第1の種類の反射板と、
−前記光源のアレイの少なくとも第2の外側列に沿って延びる、反射率R2の少なくとも第2の種類の反射板であって、前記光源の第2の外側列は前記光源の第1の外側列とは異なる方向に延びる、当該少なくとも第2の種類の反射板と
を含み、
−Iedge1によって表される前記第1の種類の反射板に隣接する前記列内の光源の強度は、次の式によって求められ、

−Iedge2によって表される前記第2の種類の反射板に隣接する前記列内の光源の強度は、次の式によって求められ、

−Icornerによって表される、前記第1の種類の反射板及び前記第2の種類の反射板の両方に隣接する角部光源の強度は、次の式によって求められ、

ここで、Icenterはいずれかの反射板に隣接する列に含まれない同色の前記光源の平均強度である、請求項7に記載の発光デバイス。 - 前記第1の種類の反射板を2つ、及び前記第2の種類の反射板を2つ有し、前記複数の反射板は囲まれた領域を形成し、前記アレイは前記囲まれた領域内に配置される、請求項8に記載の発光デバイス。
- 前記光源は発光ダイオードである、請求項1乃至9のいずれか一項に記載の発光デバイス。
- 前記第1及び第2の色は、それぞれ紫色及び緑色である、請求項1乃至10のいずれか一項に記載の発光デバイス。
- 前記少なくとも1つの反射板に隣接する少なくとも1つの光源の色及び/又は強度を測定する少なくとも1つのセンサをさらに含む、請求項1乃至11のいずれか一項に記載の発光デバイス。
- 請求項1乃至12のいずれか一項に記載の発光デバイスを含むエッジリット又は直接照明バックライトデバイスであって、前記少なくとも1つの反射板は、前記光源のアレイの端部に沿って配置される前記バックライトデバイスの少なくとも1つの内壁である、エッジリット又は直接照明バックライトデバイス。
- バックライトデバイスの照明用の発光デバイスの動作方法であって、前記発光デバイスは、
−第1及び第2の光源が交互に並ぶ光源のアレイであって、前記第1の光源は第1の色の光を発し、前記第2の光源は第2の色の光を発する、当該光源のアレイと、
−前記光源のアレイの端部に沿って配置される少なくとも1つの反射板と
を含み、
−前記方法は、前記少なくとも1つの反射板に隣接する前記少なくとも1つの光源、及び当該少なくとも1つの光源の前記反射板内の虚像の結合強度が、前記少なくとも1つの反射板に隣接しない同色の前記光源の平均強度の約80〜120%となるように、前記少なくとも1つの反射板に隣接する前記少なくとも1つの光源の強度を調整するステップを含む、方法。
